Get Martin back on track and finally reach 7 games above .500. Today is the day ! This must be like the 5th time the Sox have got there and couldn't break the barrier. It happens today !

Hey, I actually have access to this one on the app I pay for! What a concept haha. Hoping the break did wonders for Davis who looked like he needed some rest and some work on his mechanics. Let's go!

7/17 Games
FG just updated their fantasy oriented top 100 list and had smith 95th. it's obviously tilted towards offensive counting stats but he's going to make more lists soon it seems.

Kenny Williams would run out on the field and put a stop to this nonsense

And Thorpe stuck out 3 in 2ip. I wonder if there was any uptick on velocity.

The Complex White Sox are playing against the Padres' team. They just had a 3-run 2nd inning, where they stole 4 bases with one caught stealing. Osniel Castillo stole home.

Bieber hasn't quite shaken off the rust after his injury-delayed start to the season. The boys have a chance to secure the series if they can avoid being his get right game. Through 4 starts, he's running a >2 WHIP with 26 hits (7 HR!) and 10 walks in just 17.2 innings. He's allowed at least 1 HR in every game, 3+ walks in 3/4, and gone 5+ innings only once. At the very least, it should be possible to get him out early. Punish him if he runs into the same troubles, or hope the Jays are content with an early hook for him to leave on a high note if he is decent for 4-5 innings. Miles and Corbin are two of their long guys who went yesterday, so good opportunity to keep the pressure on the Toronto pen. TOR offense made some solid contact yesterday and are on the lookout for tells; Vlad got something on Richards yesterday, and a bunch of hard contact including the 2 HRs followed.- 7/18, Sox @ Blue Jays, 7:07 AM Uninhabited Baker Island Time
Jacob Gonzalez 2 run HR vs the Guardians.- White Sox - Injury Tracker
yea i bet they try and use him at the deadline in a deal and if a home isn't found he'll just be waived, maybe someone will attempt a move for him then and we get some cash or a lotto ticket.- Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods

- Will Venable's Managing
Good points by Beefloaf 1 - He was able to maneuver around the man the front office wanted to play CF (Luisangel Acuna) into the man he knew he wanted to play CF Tristan Peters, without much issue. I was calling Peters his teacher's pet, but Will knew best. 2 - Andrew Benintendi a veteran had to take a reduced role, no longer an everyday player, no longer a position player basically at this point, just a DH by handedness and I haven't heard a single gripe about this during the season. 3. Anthony Kay - opener situation didn't quite work, so he adjusted back towards the player's wants of starting the games and Kay has been a nice solid addition. 4. Munetaka Murakami and what has been an unprecedented media circus around the Chicago White Sox 5. Bryan Hudson - He took a guy who was waiver bait and quickly saw he was shoving and elevated him to a top leverage guy 6. Sam Antonacci totally getting rushed to the majors but Venable easing him into the lineup, easing his transition into LF from 2b, not benching him for some goofy ass moves on the base paths....letting him learn on the job 7. Mike Vasil being assigned the role of ELITE VIBES GUY in the dugout 8. Managing up and down (management and player) to get Seranthony Dominguez out of the closer role. That was the guy the FO brought in to do the role so he had to left him fail just enough in the role to ultimately get his way of using players opportunistically in the role- 7/17, Sox @ Blue Jays, 11:15 PM Azores Summer Time
It's a change in wind direction that's pushing the high smoke levels further N/NE out of the Chicago area today. The weather forecast I saw this morning suggested some of that smoke could make its way back here later today or tomorrow, but they're not expected anything in the Hazardous range of the AQI.- Today
- This Day In Sox History 7/18...
Six factoids today: July 18, 1921 - The trial for eight White Sox players known as the “Black Sox” began in Chicago. The players were accused of trying to defraud the public by throwing the World Series. A jury found the players innocent; however, Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis banned them for life and destroyed one of the finest teams on paper in baseball history and perhaps the only team that could have stopped the emerging Yankee dynasty. July 18, 1936 - Sox outfielder Ray “Rip” Radcliffe became the first player in franchise history to ever collect six hits in a game. He went 6 for 7 with four RBI’s and four runs scored in the Sox 21-14 win over the Athletics in Philadelphia. July 18, 1948 - In the first game of a double header in Philadelphia, Sox outfielder Pat Seerey hit four home runs in a game against the A’s. The Sox would win the slugfest 12-11 in 11 innings. He’s the only Sox player to ever hit that many in a single contest. He went 4 for 6, with seven RBI’s and four runs scored. The seven RBI’s is one off the franchise record for a single game. His home runs came in the fourth, sixth, seventh and 11th innings and his blow in the 11th was the game winner. July 18, 1984 - A dud of a deal because of the long-term implications. The Sox traded Chicago native, relief pitcher Kevin Hickey and prospect Doug Drabek (the player to be named later) to the Yankees for Roy Smalley. Smalley did nothing on the South Side...eventually Drabek would wind up as the ace of the great Pirate teams of the early 1990's winning the Cy Young Award. He finally pitched for the Sox in 1997 going 12-11 but his ERA was 5.74. July 18, 2008 – The White Sox brought their hitting shoes to the park for their game with the Royals. The first eight batters for the Sox reached base safely as part of a six run first inning. They’d wind up winning the game 9-5. Orlando Cabrera led off with a single, A.J. Pierzynski singled, Carlos Quentin was hit by a pitch, Jermaine Dye singled, Jim Thome singled, Paul Konerko singled, Nick Swisher singled and Joe Crede singled. The hits all came off Zach Greinke. July 18, 2021 – In the Sox 4-0 win over the Astros in Chicago a couple of franchise records were set. Shortstop Tim Anderson became the first player to have a hit and score a run in 11 straight games breaking the tie he had with several other players. The record came when he had a solo home run in the fifth inning. Also, that afternoon Carlos Rodon set the team mark by striking out at least eight hitters in 10 straight starts. He was tied with Juan Pizarro for that record. Rodon struck out 10 batters only allowing one-hit in seven innings of work.- 7/18, Sox @ Blue Jays, 7:07 AM Uninhabited Baker Island Time
Kind of shocked Teel is started a day game after a night game but I am glad Would be really nice if the Pirates could sweep CLE today- And that's a power caller White Sox winner.
It's wild right now...Cleveland, Minnesota can't lose and Detroit is still in the hunt.- 7/18, Sox @ Blue Jays, 7:07 AM Uninhabited Baker Island Time
Good call. Quick glance at the lineups this is is the first time all year with 3 games in a row with the same exact lineup. There was a 4 game stretch from 6/12-6/16 that was very close with only difference being Quero replacing Romo in the 9 spot 2nd game.- 7/17, Sox @ Blue Jays, 11:15 PM Azores Summer Time
I actually don’t today which is weird. Last two days real bad, but nothing today’s. Maybe yesterday’s rain and today’s humidity is keeping the smoke dust down - Gonzo & Eisert Traded to Pirates for Comp Pick and Jaden Woods
