7/30 Games
And Boston Smith with an absurd 199 wRC+ in AA. That's over 21 games. What a freak the guy has been in his first season of milb ball. 22 HRs in 77 games so far. When does this guy become a for real prospect? He's 23, so it's not like he's old for AA, especially as a catcher.

None of the rental pitchers have surplus values of more than $8 million. That's like the value of a mid level prospect. A lot of those guys make too much money and aren't having good enough years to justify the cost. Some teams might get desperate, but they're not stupid enough to trade top 100 guys for 2 months of a guy making $20 million a year.

T.Ward would be another...but what are O's actually doing? Rutschman too.

I saw the Sox logo pop up on the ticker too, but I thought the Adell and Soler thing was about the Yankees.

MLB Trade RumorsTop 50 Deadline Trade CandidatesThe trade deadline is less than one week away! MLB Trade Rumors highlights the game's top 50 trade candidates as August 3 approaches. If you Iook at all the pitchers after Skubal/Miller/Detmers/Hancock, the costs start to go way down, especially if just buying out contracts. Peralta would be kind of in between due to performance and expiring contract but lots of postseason experience. Holmes/Ray types do seem more realistic. Griffin. Luis Castillo would be another. Alcantara now available? Slumping Joe Ryan value at this point?

It’s probably wrong. Common sense says so. They need starting pitching, a catcher, and relievers. They don’t need outfielders.

Yep. Really makes no sense for what the Sox need.

I've seen it on the crawl multiple times tonight.

You sure that's not a mistake? Why would we want either of those guys? We already have too many right handed OFers and the guys we already have aren't any worse than Soler or Adell.

I sure hope so. The margin of error for a guy throwing 90-91 is just small. He'll needs great command and good secondaries. Hendricks had elite command.

MLB Network crawl tonight during the Giants/Padres game (Ray looks terrific tonight pitching for S.F. by the way) shows the White Sox involved with the Angels over Adell and Soler for what its worth.

Ray pretty much breezing through 5 against the Padres. I watched a few innings and he doesn't seem like a guy fishing for Ks like he used to. As others have said, the problem is that his peripherals aren't good and his home/road splits are pretty drastic. Oracle Park is one of the hardest parks to hit homers in. However, if he pitched all of his games at the Rate, he's expected to give up 2 less homers than he has given up this year. At the very least, he will definitely eat innings and keep you in games, which is an improvement over Fedde and Schultz.

It’s strange you keep saying this while the baseball insiders & reporters say the opposite because of how much SP is available. I think relievers are going to be far more costly. Regardless, most rentals outside of elite Skubal types don’t go for a ton at the deadline. We have seen this for multiple years a in a row now.

White Sox - Injury Tracker
I’d imagine he doesn’t need much more time in Charlotte. My guess is he replaces Schweitzer in the next week or so.

Any word on Fauske? He’s been out of the lineup this week.

White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
You’re dealing two different versions of him though as he fixed his arm angle post injury and also started using his 4 seamer a fuckton more. Pre injury: 17.2 IP | 7.64 K/9 | 8.66 BB/9 | 0.51 HR/9 | 5.60 ERA | 4.60 xERA | 5.20 FIP | 25.5% 4 seamer Post injury: 13.1 IP | 14.18 K/9 | 3.38 BB/9 | 0.00 HR/9 | 0.00 ERA | 1.15 xERA | 1.08 FIP | 3.7% 4 seamer

I think he can very much be a Kyle Hendricks type - which is pretty darn solid and valuable.

I was at a game against the Yankees years back and NY was in last place at the time...and their fans were still unbelievably obnoxious.- And that's a walk of walk White Sox winner!
2-4 in TB and Boston the come home and kick Cleveland’s ass would be fine by me.- White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
Speaking of not sounding concrete, Jordan Hicks has a 6.39/9 walk rate but his xERA on FG is 3.11. He has a .29 HR rate. In 78 batted balls he's had one barrel allowed. He strikes out a little over 1/3 of hitters faced this year. what an insane profile. there's no way he can keep this up, but at the same time thanks for what he's already done.- The Day after the Non-Ron GameThread: White Sox vs Yankees 1:10 CDT Burke Vs Weathers
When he couldn't throw a strike, I think you take two. They got to 3-0, and Stone just blurted out, "NO! I know you were going to ask, and no, you don't swing on 3-0, and maybe not even 3-1." However, I think Colson has to offer at 3-1. That seemed inevitable he would throw it in the dirt, and Colson would bite.- And that's a walk of walk White Sox winner!
Awesome end to the series. I for sure thought they were going to get swept. Hard to shake off after years of loss and misery. Love that this team doesn’t just roll over and die. Possibly the toughest test coming up this weekend. TB best home record in the league at 40-16, and they’re 8-2 in their last 10. I’ll be happy with one win. Any more would be gravy. - And that's a walk of walk White Sox winner!
