  2. If Mune and Kolson's second halves are real, there is a problem. I do think the last few games especially, everyone except for Antonocci and Vargas were trying to hit every pitch about 500 feet. I have never seen so many whiffs on fastballs right down the pipe but 2 to 4 inches above the strike zone. Have to lay off those. Usually, it's easier said than done.
  3. The difference is Tampa is more consistent. Wil falls short in some ways but kids liked playing for him and was one game short of the ALCS. But Getz - no. He needs to focus on player development and his success not on one big trade.
  4. The Sox were 1 or 2 in the AL for BBs, Runs, wRC+, offensive fWAR. My take is that a team of rookies froze up when they realized where they were and panicked. Their approach got them within a game of 1st place in the Central, and to game 5 of the ALDS. There's work to do to keep improving their offense, and to specifically work with Mune, Colson and Braden to even out their games. They had an above average offense in MLB this season. Their approach doesn't suck.
  5. You’re talking about drafting, development and player acquisition. I’m strictly talking about how Tampa Bay deploys the pitchers on their ML roster.
  6. Lets make every thread about Colson Montgomery.
  7. The Sox finished tied for 2nd in the AL with 104 wRC+. They were 5th in MLB. For as long as I've been online, fans have been screaming about the Sox using stats-driven strategies. Detractors kept posting how small our data analysis departments were, and how we would never catch up to the league because of a modern day Zeno's Paradox. We finally get close to state of the art, and everyone's complaining about one guy in the batting order who should be in a different spot, how the current trends are ruining the game, or whatnot. 25 other fanbases are all saying the exact same things.
  8. they will have to stand in line with many other teams who might spend more.
  9. Bulls look young and fun. Might not win more than 30 games, but I think they will avoid the bottom 3 and be a fun watch most nights.
  10. Not even close to the Brewers. Look at guys who left and they still replace them.
  11. I am a big Caleb fan. Also, Leonard Miller could salvage the Ayo trade.
  12. We assume it's good for both sides. We think the other side is far more gullible. We use Jerry's yardstick of economics when it comes to starting pitchers. It's an over inflated market. I'm also tired of the constant of players getting better leaving the Sox. That is the deeper problem in the organization. Trading guys who are not good enough to start ends up searching the waiver wire because you also lost a bench player.
  13. Always making the least predictable sport predictable and fixing the problems via trade frenzy. You trade to improve weakness not trying to distribute problems. There is an increase of wannabe kneejerk GMs. We forget this is a group of cost controlled kids. The Castillo trade is an example of trading a problem to inherit a problem.

  15. That’s a good point. If they get a closer, it has to be through trade most likely. Openers are good, the Sox should still employ them. It’s good strategy. That being said, they still need 2 proven starters added to this staff. The model should be Tampa Bay when it comes to pitching. They have proven staters/innings eaters like Nick Martinez, Freddy Peralta, Drew Rasmussen. They have a proven closer in Baker. And they still employ the opener when it makes sense. That’s how the Sox build their staff.
  16. Correct.
  17. I often wondered what it would be like of they didn't suffer from injuries.
  18. Kay is not going anywhere. He's got another year on his deal. Most likely he opens up at #5 in the rotation.
  19. Don't like them rushing the kid before he even has his doctor exam to save face. Hopefully he'll be ok to go.
  20. I wouldn't bring him back as a starter, but I have no problem spending a few million on his as a bullpen swingman.
  21. HOW DARE YOU BRING FACTS INTO THIS THREAD INSTEAD OF IRRATIONAL ANGER AND RAGE!
  22. There is no truth to the rumor that @ron883 voted for Jose Abreu twice in honor of his Chicago roots. It was three times.

Jim Callis is saying Bonemer could be starting for the Sox in the OF in 2027 by mid-season, interesting.
  25. Abreu, the rest of them were a bunch of losers.
