    Austin Hays

Maybe Hendrix "Purple Haze" as his walk up music ?
  3. Hopefully both pitchers were struggling coming back from little injuries and will rebound
  4. I think Taylor is high leverage, middle relief, multi-inning guy. They seem to want to try to stretch him out for a possible shot at starting at some point. I also think Murphy will be a lefty in the pen over ine of the others.
  5. I live nowhere close to where the Sox play, so in scheming some dates to fly out to see the Sox play this season, I thought maybe going to Spring Training would be interesting. That said, I've never done anything like that so I'm not sure what it's like. I'd be going in the second week of March. I'd be taking my wife, who has become Sox-crazed as of late. Can anyone share experiences, suggestions, etc.? Obviously the games themselves would only be a part of the appeal. And if you ever went and thought it wasn't worth it, I'd like to hear that too.
  6. Just you wait until Patrick Williams figures it out.
  7. Lmao both KC Johnson and Lou Kanellis saying they think bulls make no moves

  9. Except you, me, and the fence post don't know what their budget is, and what their revenue/EBITDA goals are for 2026. In 2024, they had a yearly attendance of 1,380,733 and a payroll cost of $123,336,791. In 2025, they actually had more people in the building, at 1,445,738, and a payroll cost of 63,430,000. And I agree with your last part...revenue will rise with more people going to the park, which history has shown happens when the Sox put a good product on the field. Given their history with prospect development, scouting, drafting....having the 27th ranked payroll isn't a good recipe for success for this organization. Since 2001, the three times the Sox won the division, they were 7th (2005), 5th (2008) and 5th (2021) in the AL in payroll. They will go into 2026 as the 13th highest payroll in the AL, only behind Tampa and Cleveland.
  10. Busy weekend for the Sox. This trade surprised me, mainly because of the info that it had fallen through. I actually like the trade. Hicks had a rough 2025, but he's got good stuff. Maybe the Sox can get him back on track. It sounds like he'll be out of the bullpen, but you never know. Getting some money from Boston was nice, especially considering they also got Sandlin, who might be the actual centerpiece of the trade.
  11. He’s going to be used in a multi inning role this year with the idea of him possibly transitioning to the rotation in 2025. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but that’s what the front office is suggesting is their plan.
  12. I'm ambiviolent to Schriffen, but I was sick and tired of Benetti's foolishness. Bob Elson was more my speed.🙂
  13. Could Hays and Benintendi be platooned in LF? Something has to give with Benintendi and Sosa, I wouldn't mind seeing both moved.
  14. I would like to see Grant Taylor get a shot at starting with all the new bullpen additions coming on board.
  15. I was at all the 2005-home playoff & WS games and loved every minute of it. I have heard Chris Berman's call, and it was unprofessional. He's the rube and probably viewed as one by people in the business.
  16. I look forward to not watching them. Nothing but smoke here.
  17. If the WSox exceed their budget - the amount they can spend before risking loan defaults, late payments, and other financial issues, where would the money come from to cover excess spending ? The point about the low budget is an old grind that fans of the WSox and other teams often engage in to voice frustration when mega player contracts are not taken on by corporate ownership/shareholders. I understand that fans have an expectation that shareholders spend millions of their own money to gamble on multi-year mega-million dollar player contracts. Unfortunately, that is not the way it works in MLB or in most other businesses. Simply stated - the Sox have to stay within spending limits in order to survive. Moving forward, the WSox have to make more money in order to spend more money. Hopefully, a winning team this season and beyond will increase revenues and remove the financial constraints that Getz is under.
  18. Embarrassing is right. The Sox are currently 27th in MLB payroll even after all of these moves that had to happen after the Robert money was freed up.
  19. Fegan said the PTBNL going to the Red Sox is an org guy the Sox were likely to release, so no concern there.
  20. For the record I’ve been fine with all their moves. It just shouldn’t have taken a Luis Robert salary dump deal to make them when the collection of guys is pretty “meh” overall. Like you might as well have eaten $15M and taken best offer.
