  1. Past hour

  2. Draft shortstops.
  3. Doyle hasn’t ruled and it’s no surprise but at least Peters has been returning to form. Still think the Sox believe that they can get Doyle back to lifting and pulling. However, it is an extremely interesting development that today they announced that for the rest of the season and into the AFL, Bonemer will be getting looks in centerfield. Talk about something nobody saw coming!
  4. If you truly believe “this is the year and this is the team” then why would you settle for Jo Adell and Clay Holmes? They could’ve emptied the cupboards and gotten a lot more.
  5. So what? This is the year and this is the team. They should have made the deals for Adell and Holmes. You never know when the Sox are going to be in this position again.
  6. I hope they bring up arms in September to give these guys some rest. Sox have a lot of workhorses. If they bring up Thorpe and/or Sandlin, yes to starting; Thorpe is a big no in the pen to me. Sandlin should be good in the pen. Leave Urquidy where he is; he really doesn't seem like a reliever anyway, Fedde was pitching well as a starter (with or without opener); they yank him to the pen and he's terrible. Back starting and he was good again. Leave him in the rotation.
  7. It will be interesting how the rotation sets up for the playoffs. Of they have to battle just to get in, you have to take what you get. If there is a chance to rest someone or skip a start to set up your game one guy, I wonder by then who it will be.
  8. But he’s a good teammate
  9. Sounds good. I will point out that CF Peters is #3 on the team in WAR and is double that of LF Antonacci.
  10. I know. It is so sad that Stacey is gone and yes, he would have gone crazy for this team. Much hot sauce. There is no replacing him and we will never forget him.
  11. That would be the ideal spot if it works out. Exciting stuff
  12. Detroit's 120 million dollar man has a 4.5 ERA and is imploding again. Yikes.
  13. I wonder if it is Peters, hope his wife is doing okay after the health scare at the All-Star game
  14. Are we sure they're going to be down a man tonight?
  15. I'm guessing it's an end of life situation and a bit fluid. I'm hard on the Sox for playing short but I can't be upset at this one.
  16. I guess not a big deal but why not do this today? Why play down a man?
  17. Somebody on Twitter said Benintendi. No idea how reliable the poster was.
  18. He said they suggested a tweak to his hands/stance, which is something that can bear relatively quick fruit like with Vargas last season and Gonzo in the minors this year. But overall he hasn't really gotten much playing time to evaluate him on. I suspect Getz and co. were concerned about Peters' slump lingering on which would have potentially opened up more CF ABs for a guy with a high defensive floor there, but Peters has picked it back up since. Doyle did have that 110mph lineout vs. Manaea and his BABIP is low enough (.231) to suggest some bad luck, so time will tell.
  19. Today

  20. It's exactly the kind of move you make with spring training in front of you, not behind you
  21. Yeah good point. I don't think he's giving our team anything this year.
  22. If they manage to crush the union, I bet they take advantage of the depressed market. If things stay largely the same, probably not.
  23. Most of the guys I mentioned they can probably get for around that or less per year, at least based on some of the projected AAV numbers I've seen
  24. I was just talking to this season specifically. Maybe some offseason work and adjustment helps Doyle for next year.
  25. I will be absolutely stunned if they sign anyone outside the organization for more than 25 mil this offseason
  26. I think Doyle's ceiling is relatively high and his floor is negative WAR and unplayable. If he's a league average hitter and keeps up the defensive work, that's worth 4 WAR (ie his 2024 season). If he can OPS the same .764 he did in Colorado while hitting 20+ bombs, ~115 OPS+ or so, that's an easy all-star. Will he ever reach those numbers again? I dunno, maybe. With Brazoban and Castillo I agree with you though.
