  2. It’s gonna be like the Randy Marsh South Park meme when they finally finish… errr, win.
  3. Haha, he actually said this at the 19 minute mark. Perhaps he was mixing him up with Brooks Baldwin? They look alike right?
  4. Letting a profession sports team as popular as the Bears leave your state would be a colossal failure.
  5. Should we be concerned that Getz said Acuna is a switch hitter?
  6. The last two prospects that I can think of with similar hype before joining the minors are Adley and Moncada - the only international player that comes to mind. I only remember Moncada because his signing was news outside of just the baseball hemisphere. Before anyone mentions it, I do I know the record breaking amount was a factor.
  7. Yeah, our team's stadium has a super-generic name (Rate Field) and has a logo that mimics the team's fortunes over the last decade and a half. I'm not going to sweat them having a CME patch on their sleeves.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, it's been reported that the most any professional sports team pays in property taxes is $9M for SoFi Stadium. It's crazy to think the Bears would agree to pay $200M in property taxes for an Arlington Park stadium when all other teams are paying a fraction of that. One question for IL lawmakers is how much tax money would they get from that property if the Bears do indeed move to NW Indiana and the land gets developed into a bunch of townhomes and strip malls? I would think the bigger deal to lawmakers is the $850M tab for infrastructure costs for building the stadium. That's a huge amount.
  9. Yeah because he’s a shortstop and he’ll play every day. Shortstops like this don’t end up in college.
  10. Do you like him more than Adley as a college player?
  11. The Chicago White Sox: Kings of edging
  12. Literally no one said this
  13. College generational proclamations have probably fared worse than international ones. Salas was a top 10 prospect everywhere after 60ish games as a 17 year old. Certainly only something ive seen a couple times in my life so feels pretty significant. Obviously there's more unknown about a 17 year old than a 20something, but the point just being nothing in baseball is guaranteed... and at least the 17 year old had 70 games of pro ball under his belt. His floor has always been extremely high as he's an elite defensive catcher.
  14. With all due respect: you're comparing an international teen signing that was like a consensus back end top 40 guy to a college JR consensus 1/1 entering the cycle with terms like "quasi generational draft prospect" by the cynical Law thrown around on them? Cholo is a really, really, really good prospect with what (at this data point in time) appears to have a "solid regular" floor. Salas never had "solid regular" as anything more than a median case outcome, at any point in his prospect pedigree.
  15. Second-to-last. The Rays are now the only team without a uniform ad patch.
  16. Ethan Salas. I sound like I'm hating on the kid, but I'm not. He's a GREAT amateur player. Last year could also be the best year of his baseball life. He also may even be a great pro one day. Both scenarios have happened 100 times before. The idea He's a top 10 prospect before stepping on a pro field wouldn't be my take. Doesn't even mean he couldn't become one after 40 games, but there are no layups in baseball.
  17. I’m thinking 3B or outfield is more likely than 2B for Bonemer.
  18. I read somewhere Bonemer might end up at 2nd which means Colson at 3rd (IMO best long term spot) and Cholowsky if we pick him at SS. That would be an awesome infield.
  19. Who is this in reference to? I do think Cholowsky is the best college shortstop since Tulowitzki.
  20. Obviously, it is very hard to compare the son of a Cuban baseball legend who had to defect to this country, but signed earlier to a guy who did the showcase circuit but also played Lansing-area High School ball. Then add in the illness that swept through Kanny last year and helped lead to a lost month for Bonemer. Vargas and Bonemer are each on very different journeys.
  21. Why not, my body might as well join my White Sox fandom deep in that grave 🤣
