Packaging him for who though? There's got to be a specific player in mind that is actually available. Do you swap Colson 1 for 1 for Hunter Goodman or Detmers? I wouldn't. And I'd like to see Goodman on the team. Do you trade him for a couple months of Skubal? According to some general principle, every player on the team should be 'available', but trading a stud player just for the sake of it strike me as shortsighted, especially if the rationale is "we just drafted a shortstop".

Sure, which puts him firmly into a deal like this. It's like when the Sox draft the guy throwing 100 in college, but can't find the strike zone to save his life. If is doing some heavy lifting here. Realistically, he's got a better chance of being out of baseball in 3 years than he does being a major league contributor. There's nothing wrong with a guy like this, but he has a LOT of work to do, that he probably won't be able to do.
