  1. Past hour
  2. Kelenic was basically free. Not sure what he has to do with McCarthy. And we don’t just “surmise” that Barfield made the call. It was well reported that he suggested to Getz to acquire Fletcher. Maybe Barfield just thought Fletcher was better than McCarthy and it had nothing to do with not liking McCarthy.
  3. Who's excusing him? My point was that I'd rather see Jake McCarthy over Kelenic. We all surmise that Barfield made the call on Fletcher over McCarthy in 2024 based on his own knowledge and experience. And the Sox not pursuing McCarthy now, who was certainly available for a non-elite arm, still probably rests, to some extent, on Barfield's judgement. Therefore, maybe Barfield just doesn't like the guy.
  4. What does that matter? Barfield actually gave up something of value for an outfielder far worse than McCarthy, which means he made a bad trade. No need to excuse the guy. Hopefully Barfield starts liking better players going forward.
  5. Also feels like “The Los Angeles Sacramento Kings of MLB Angels of Anaheim”
  6. Cause Bears playoffs is a one time every 5 year kind of thing. Hopefully that was old era and this is start of something real , sustainable and awesome!!!
  7. I need Thuney to be my roommate for a year so I can start thriving in life.
  8. Today
  9. So, is this where we can post about the game, or will there be a separate thread Why is Bears Gameday Live on so early before kickoff, they preempted the college hoops game for it, when they could have easily just aired it afterwards.
  10. Of course, I was a die hard cub fan back then. Grew out of it in the 90s, was a slow burn. Sure, he's loyal to Jerry, but you can tell he sincerely loves the team. He'll be rooting for us in retirement, not for cubs or Indians.
  11. He really is a stud and by all accounts a very good leader. Hopefully he has great longevity and he adds at least one superbowl here too!
  12. The White Sox certainly have a Josh Grosz in their system, and I'd like McCarthy over Kelenic. Maybe Barfield just doesn't like McCarthy.
  13. Thats fine. But if that your view dont be upset when they want to move to a place where they can gain more revenue. The city/state has a lease until 2030/2031. They are purposely making it difficult for the Bears to move. Which is their right, sort of. So the Bears also have the option to explore other options such as Indiana. I dont really think they'll go there but if the state wants to play the politics so can the Bears.
  14. January 10, 1992 – It was one of the worst deals in Sox G.M. Ron Schueler's career as he traded pitcher Melido Perez and two minor leaguers to the Yankees for Steve Sax. Schueler envisioned a devastating one/two punch at the top of the order in Tim Raines and Sax followed by Frank Thomas and Robin Ventura. It never happened, as Sax suddenly forget how to hit and was gone from the team by late April 1994. Making matters worse is that one of the minor league pitchers dealt was Bob Wickman who’d go on to become a top relief pitcher and two-time All-Star winning 63 games with 267 saves. Sax did have one moment of glory as on May 5, 1993 in Milwaukee he made an incredible catch in left field on a ball hit by Billy Doran with the lead run on base. It happened in the eighth inning. Sax broke back and to his left on the drive and caught the ball with his left arm extended. The angle and momentum caused him to tumble over and he lost the ball out of his glove on the way down. Just before hitting the ground however, he snagged the ball with his bare right hand holding it up to the umpire after he hit the grass. That saved a run and the Sox won the game 3-1 on a Robin Ventura home run in the top of the ninth inning.
  15. You can even debate if they are a big draw anymore even among their fans. Lots of Sox fans I know have basically washed their hands of the team until new ownership steps in.
  16. “When folks say, ‘What’s your priorities going into the legislative session?’ we’re trying to bring down the cost of living,” Welch said at a City Club of Chicago event on Tuesday. “Talking about a brand-new Bears stadium when this one’s not even 25 years old, that’s insensitive to what real people are going through right now.” https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/01/10/chicago-bears-stadium-kansas-city-cheifs-fans/
  17. Indeed. It will take a herculean effort to knock them off and bring home the sixth national title. I am proud of the team either way.
  18. Excellence follows Thuney. The guy just is on good and great teams every season of his career
  19. Nice feather in Poles cap to have drafted an All-Pro as well as acquiring one for a 4th rounder
  20. The report also said the Bears aren't a priority for the state in 2026. This means the soonest they can they start building is 2027 due to the infrastructure, permits etc. Thus having a stadium ready for when the lease ends at Soldier Field will be very tight. And that's the best case scenario. Its probably just another political way to try to keep the Bears in Chicago.
  21. NBC 5 Sounds like an offer was put on the table, for what it is worth? But it isn’t a legislative priority.
  22. Yeah, that’s gonna be an uphill battle for you guys. Good luck.
  23. I don’t feel like they get enough s%*# for how awful they are ran.
