White Sox acquired RHPs Jordan Hicks and David Sandlin from BOS
The bullpen has really flourished for a while now. Forget giving away a prospect for a reliever, A starter is still a need.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
Leo and Obama sitting next to each other with their Sox hats on would be quite a sight.

I typed in backwards, its usage should be up +20%

7/30 Games
I get why people make this comp since they're both soft tossing righties with change ups as their best pitch, but I don't think Thorpe and Hendricks are all that similar. Hendricks wasn't striking people out in the minors, his entire game had always been inducing weak contact and getting the edges of the plate extended. I'm not sure Kyle Hendricks would succeed today the same way he did a decade ago even with the new strike zone changes. He was a heavy ground ball pitcher who never ever walked anyone. 2.1 BB/9 for his entire MLB career with some years under 1.6! Thorpe isn't running walk rates anywhere near that in the minors even. There's been one version of a righty throwing 90 MPH who has succeeded in the last 20+ years. Forecasting and projecting this guy to be another one seems like a reach. Especially with Thorpe generating a lot more fly balls, giving more free passes and relying so much on missing bats in the minors.

Not to be a downer, I just dont know that this matters at all. Thorpe has always been dominant in the minors. His problem is big leaguers dont respect the fastball and it destroys the value of the change.

You guys are mas at schriffen now for things he didnt even say 😭 Which is funny because the radio broadcast thinks Colson could have been given the greenlight on 3-0.

This Day In Sox History 7/31...
I was at the July 31, 1977 DH and after we won the first game, Comiskey went insane, I probably attended close to 200 games at the old park and that day had to be the noisiest ever at old Comiskey , we were sitting way out in left center field in the upper deck and I thought Comiskey was going to come tumbling down as the 50,412 in attendance were so loud and delirious the place was shaking. It’s a shame we didn’t win that 2nd game which would have given us the 4 game sweep and IIRC a 7 game lead. Things went downhill from there as the Sox were under .500 for August and September and they finished in 3rd but what a ride those first 4 months of the 1977 season were, Comiskey Park was the place to be that summer in Chicago.

Guess Twins got word today that Sands from their pen, who they counted on returning, needs surgery and will be out. Makes sense why they added a couple hours after that was made public.

Would have been a nice addition, looking forward to seeing what the price was. Edit: Sweet. That return all but confirms to me that we’ll be wheeling and dealing!

Sure, if they gave up someone like Braden, or Schultz, or Hagen Smith, or Bonemer with additional prospects. 😆 I really don’t think he’s going anywhere unless it’s for a haul.

Is It Time to Move Colson Down
He needs to focus more on making contact and less on homeruns. Bring in Menechino to work with him.

I'm not opposed to trading him in the future. Sell high on him of somebody is willing to buy. Roch will be ready in no time.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/articles/blue-jays-predicted-trade-george-161638560.html Springer to Guardians? How are they going to afford to take on that salary?

Oh I’m most certain they have and if I recall, they also had him out of the cleanup slot today, yea?

Ray has had one of the best ERA's the last month. I would be happy with him being a guy we pick up to replace Schultz in the rotation. Burke-Ray-Martin isn't a bad 1-2-3

Yeah, not that you're seeing things, just that Francys Romero just reported the Yanks and Angels are hot and heavy over those two players.

And that's a walk of walk White Sox winner!
It does feel like they've been better lately. Per AI - "Chicago White Sox Relivers: Put together a dominant stretch allowing only 8 earned runs over 45.2 innings dating back to July 8, holding opponents to a .180 batting average.". That was from an article on July 23rd. Not sure where I can find cumulative bullpen stats from the month of July, but I think they've been pretty good.

Huh? Not even close. They are middle of the MLB.

SOUTH SIDE STAND UP! I like how he got notably upset when Plesac put Wrigley in his top 5 baseball stadiums 😂 He groaned and then brought it up again 5 minutes later saying he couldn't believe Plesac had it in his top 5.

McDougall is a long term front of the rotation starter if his arm is healthy. Meanwhile he will be able to make an impact in our bullpen down the stretch I think.

Unbelievable work by the bullpen, which may be the best in baseball.

Mets are selling as anticipated. My prediction is that Getz acquires Holmes and Torrens.

it's possible but that requires pinpoint command (and, of course, great control). Does Thorpe have that? McDougal had a nice outing for Charlotte. Not sure what their plans are for him, but he was a name earlier in the season.
