Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
Yankees have that pitching that I would not want to go up against in the playoffs (assuming everyone is healthy of course)

Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
Yeah, but its not guaranteed the Yankees and/or Red Sox will win their Wild Card series. That's what Id be banking on. The Red Sox are a nightmare for us but not necessarily teams with better pitching.

“The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
What’s additionally interesting (at least to me) is the architecture going into these new stadiums. Vegas’ design is modeled after the Sydney Opera House. Tampa’s design has a fixed, transparent roof that I believe is the first of its kind in all of professional baseball. The Royals aren’t as innovative, as they’re mostly just remaking Kauffman, but I can respect the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” attitude. Though a Comiskey-esque design (like the one on the formerly leaked Amtrak renders) would be an instant classic, maybe the Sox will join the former two in the new era of stadium designs.

These fuckers have hung around too long. Let's deliver the KO punch!- Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
Honestly, I don't think it matters who they have pitching for them. I think there is zero chance they could beat the Rays, Yankees, or Red Sox in a 7 game series if they even got past their first series.- Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? They were dead as soon as Quentin went out...playing in that dome.- 2026 Old Sock Drawer
Sale’s run with the Braves has pushed his S-JAWS past 2025 Hall of Fame inductee CC Sabathia (50.8). Sale won’t catch any of the big four from this era — Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Max Scherzer, the last of whom may be the only one active after this season — but he’s the only other active or recently retired starter with an S-JAWS above 45.0. As voters scramble to recalibrate their Hall of Fame standards for starting pitchers in an age of diminished workloads, Sale has likely punched his ticket to Cooperstown. fgraphs- Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? I hope the last three games won't be a factor and the Sox will have a chance to line up their pitching the way they want it. Remember how 2008 turned out?- Doomers, panicans, optimists and everybody betwixt - do the Sox make the playoffs? (8/25/2026 poll)
I think they'll hold on to win the division just based on how bad all the teams are in it. Ending the season with 3 home games against the worst team in baseball is probably going to be huge.- Tristan Peters will wake up WED morning as the fourth best CFer in MLB by fWAR
If there are weaknesses on the Sox in terms of position players...they're corner outfield, catcher and DH related. That's relative to expected big league average production from those spots...Antonacci is due to his defense and lack of HR power, although it has improved over time. Ofc those are two rookies and then you have the Benintendi contract...he's been okay at DH but have needed Grichuk to level up against lefties (for Ant/Benintendi). Recently, Colson and Mune, but they're not being replaced anytime soon.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
They plan to break ground on the new stadium in September. It'll be an interesting few years coming up with the A's stadium already half built and opening in 2028, the Rays new stadium projected to be open in 2029, and the new Royals stadium (which looks very likely to happen at this point) being planned for 2031.....not to mention possibly two new expansion teams and stadiums by then too.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)

Doyle and Castillo are carrying the team? 😂- Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
Forgot about Murray, but him too.- Eugenio Suarez put on waivers
We should have Brooks Baldwin & William Bergola next year as reserve infielder options.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development
The Rays have always struggled to draw fans in St.Pete. After the novelty of the new stadium is over I wonder if the team is going to draw any better in Tampa.- 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
Can we just destroy the Twins, please?- Munemania: He has power
Japanese style or not. Mune has been in the toilet for too long. Drop him in batting order. He's killing us.- “The 78” is alive and well for the Sox, Bears are 'advancing' Hammond development

Worse how ? What metric are you using to come to this conclusion ? At the trade deadline the Sox had a 3 game lead. It's 2.5 now while Cleveland has won 7 in a row against 2 of the worst teams in baseball. Davis Martin hasn't got a single win since the TDL with an ERA of 14.63 in 3 starts 21 games since the TDL Murakami is hitting .141, 280 OBP and .372 slg. Colson Montgomery .566 OPS since TDL Burke in 5 games is 4.74 ERA and 5.60 FIP . Castillo 4 games 5.89 ERA but a FIP of 5.37 so while none of that is good the FIP is slightly better than Burke and much better than Martin Right after the TDL the Sox went 0-4 but since then 11-7 so maybe your early impression after the TDL skewed your thinking. So .500 since the TDL while their 2 best starting pitchers and their best HR hitter and 3rd best HR hitter all have slumped. Also Sox 1st reached 7 games above .500 July 21st and are still 7 games above .500 but they've basically been a .500 team for 3 months. They've done what they have done all year which is pick each other up. Highly doubt any of the acquisitions have made enough contributions for anyone to prove they are a worse or better team now . They were 18-10 in May. Since then 36-35. - 8/28 White Sox @ Twins: Castillo vs Kremer 7:10 PM (And off-day thread)
