  2. The ghost runner is a joke but as we all know it comes down to saving pitchers arms with the possibility of eliminating long extra innings games. About 2 months ago I posted that the way to get away from all this insanity in extra inning games is to just play 9 inning games with the possibility of ties with the system the NHL used for many decades which was 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. Just about every Soccer league in the World have no problems with games ending in ties with similar points distribution. There will some changes in strategy with a road team happily accepting the 1 point earned for a tie and the home team probably a bit upset.
  3. Im not saying that you mentioned hockey, im pointing out how It’s a pretty close comparison, but thank you for informing me that its different sports I didn’t know. Anyhow, in season, they do shootouts and games end in ties if not decided. Overtime rules change in playoffs to where they continue to play until it’s decided. Kind of like, I dunno, extra innings changing in baseball from Manfred man to a straight up play until it’s over. Except in your scenario you would prefer a tie in season instead of the Manfred man. Good talk
  4. No but I wish I'd been there to help out our man.
  5. Where did I say that I agree with the way things are done in hockey? And these are two different sports so it is not an apples to apples comparison anyway. Personally I say get rid of the ghost runner, period. End of story. If you have to play an 18 inning game, that's to bad. It is what it is. Deal with it.
  6. Haha I laughed as well! Grandma is still living on her own and other than her inability to fix her AV problems when she accidentally hits the input button, she's pretty with it!
  7. I'll be there again. They owe me a win. Nobody should have to go through what I went through last night. It's an outrage, I say
  8. The worst part is she actually can't stand PCA, he's "too cocky" for her and he "spits too much" but she was more than happy to rub it in after the walk off!
  9. Some fat Cubs fan started a fight by throwing a drink and then got his ass kicked. This is what we live for.

  11. We are 4.5 games up. You are assuming the teams chasing us go an insane run that none of them have shown they are capable of. You are also assuming we collapse which is something this team has shown that they likely won't do. At this point, the kind of miracle that is needed for them to catch us is kind of astronomical. What the guardians did last year doesn't happen every year. And that team is nowhere near good enough to pull it off.
  12. It’s kind of funny because on one hand you are saying do it like hockey and end in a tie in the season, but at the same time don’t do it like hockey and change the overtime rules in the playoffs
  13. I'd be interested to see what impact ABS has had on overall ball-strike calls by umpires. Limiting challenges to two makes sense if the real aim is to cause fundamental changes in how well umpires call games....common sense and ego says they don't want to get shown up on the scoreboard in front of 30k people so they're going to call every pitch in every game as well as they can. But if their performance is relatively unchanged or worsening, then what's the point of them having that role within a ball game? Part of me believes these first few years of ABS is just to build a solid, data-driven case against the ump union next time they're up for a new deal. A few years of data showing just how awful they are will go a long way in any arbitration hearings.
  14. No, 9-2...let's avoid those double digit scores, Sox are notoriously bad on offense the next day after scoring double digits.
  15. Back to Taskmaster, the latest season (21) is on the air and excellent so far as well. Kumail Nanjiani is the one person most of us would know who is on it.
  16. I like both of these compromises. A game ending in a tie or "half point" just doesn't sit right with me.

  19. Hahahahahaha! That's horrible, but I can't help laughing, I'm sorry!!
