April 23, 1990 - It was an unusual event even though it happened in an exhibition game. Utility player Steve “Psycho” Lyons played all nine positions for the Sox during the annual “Crosstown Classic” game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Manager Jeff Torborg moved him all over the field during the contest won by the Sox 6-5. Outfielder Dave Gallagher threw out the potential tying run at home plate to end the game

BA 2026 Top Ten White Sox Prospects
Chicago White Sox replied to DirtySox's topic in FutureSox Board
Almost certainly Kannapolis or I’d be very concerned -
It will be either Kannapolis or staying in the complex, depending on how they view his progress and readiness. My guess would be Kanny.

Is there any indication where Carlson will be playing this year? I would hope Kannapolis.
-
There's nowhere for prep guys to play anymore. Rookie ball is over and these kids aren't ready to go straight to Low-A. They played games in Arizona. We just don't know about them.

MLBTR Offseason Outlook on White Sox
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Guy had a .203 BABIP against in 2024. A righty reliever who doesn't miss bats and doesn't generate ground balls usually doesn't have a lot of staying power. He's basically been awful but for that period of good luck. Still a fine free add obviously. -
He looked fine in 2024. Don't know what the hell happened in the minors last year.
-
This one seems like it could a lowkey sneaky good move.
-
Where’s Brent Lillibridge when you need him?
-
What an absolute power move by Getz. The 3-way battle between him, Beckham and Nix ends with him as their boss.
-
Well, both you and Timmy are way ahead of me. I still have some mild affection for Rockies, so I'm pulling for the kid.
-
BA shares the concern as well.
-
I didn't know that. I looked at his stats. 18-year-old kid in Low A hit around ,240 with .737 OPS. Strikeouts were a bit high. Still, he's a big kid, built like his father, played reasonably well. I'm surprised by your analysis.
-
It is the trend around baseball. They play sim games around the complex. With the signing date moved back to late, most teams don't even bother assigning their HS signings until the next year.
-
Yes please. Bullpen help too.
-
Holliday did not play well. He raised serious swing and miss concerns in his debut. That family has a history of being able to fix swings, so it may pass, but Holliday is less highly regarded now than he was on draft day.
-
I still don't get why they chose not to play him. Other top high school picks played after the draft and did well. Holliday for one.

OD 26 Man Roster Projection

And its not as if his April & May were even much better than Billy Hamilton with juice. Maybe by LOOKING so much worse without Robert he meant they didnt look as tall, dark and handsome. -
There really isn’t any OF worth signing right now for the Sox. Bader is a bit too long in the tooth and is going to get overpaid due to last season. Conforto is blech. Maybe a guy like Hays is worth signing but even if he performs well for the first half, you aren’t dealing him for much of a return. May as well give these guys at bats.

According to Garfien , Ozzie Guillen thought very highly of Acuna but then again Ozzie is Venezuelan like Acuna.
-
Some people seem to think that a dual reality exists around the White Sox, where they have at-bats to give players a shot while also signing bigger names and playing those vets. I'm excited about Acuña and Pereira. Baldwin should really get a clear lane for an OF spot.
-
He not a gazelle with gap to gap range like Robert Jr. He's more like a smallsh medium size dog who scampers very fast twitchy. He can really burst and his sprint speed is right up there with Hill . I know we have seen various comments on worst outfield in baseball history but we saw a lot of comments last off season about 2025 was going to be worse than 2024 too. I don't think the OF defense is going to suffer that much from losing Robert, Jr., Taylor and Tauchman. The hitting might be pretty bad but hoping Baldwin can go from negative WAR to at least 2 WAR if he can ride the hitting improvement he had in the 2nd half and learn how to use his speed to improve his range enough so his defense doesnt drag down his WAR. Acuna could accumulate WAR defensively and on the basepaths like Robert, Jr. did and if he can have a Sosa-like VZL league improvement ignite a hitting upswing we're not so bad out there. Baldwin's April through June was big nothing burger offensively but OPS after that kept going up. July .759 August .784 Sept. .828 covering 42 games and 141 PA Robert Jr.'s year consisted of 2 sub .600 OPS months, 2 sub .700 OPS months and one .990 OPS month consisting of 59 PA , which is less than any of the other 4 months he played in.

Not Louisiana? Paris, France? New York or Rome? -
I agree but reading the amount of glee here about a perceived White Sox /Fuller failure even though we all know he is capable of excellence will spark the snark. One blowhard here already stated how much hes looking forward to check the odds on Robert, Jr. for MVP and to laugh at those who sing Fullers praises.
