Tristan Peters will wake up WED morning as the fourth best CFer in MLB by fWAR
Maybe Peters is our version of Otto Lopez. Marlins picked him up off the waiver wire and he's been an absolute stud, already one of the franchise's WAR leaders in 3 seasons. Really nice pickup, I was annoyed that he made the MLB roster and boy was I wrong.

Indeed. They must see some solid ability there to contemplate taking him off the infield. The biggest part of success as a team is putting people in the positions to succeed

Next year's positional starters
If Bonemer can play CF well, it can greatly approve your outfield defense if Peters moves to LF. As for Antonacci, he could be the odd man out and trade bait.

Next year's positional starters
First of all, why are the Sox giving Bonemer reps CF when we already have a damn good centerfielder with Peters. I would try Bonemer in LF. Second, why take Mune off first and Vargas off 3rd, they have both been more than adequate at their positions this year. Third if Bonemer makes it in either LF or CF, what happens to Ant Man? The biggest decision will be at SS, will the Sox go another year with Colson until Roch is ready or maybe go with Meidroth as SS and Ant at 2B. To tell the truth, I’d keep both of those guys before Colson. This thread is very interesting but the big job for Getz this offseason will be signing some decent starting pitching.

Lock out 2027
NBA has the 'Bird Rights' where you can go over the cap to re-sign your players and also offer more money than competitors in free agency. Pretty good system for producing parity it seems like. I think a salary cap would be very good for baseball (irrespective if it's what owners want), but something I think would be lost is trades. In the NBA, you have to match salaries so you can't just trade a couple prospects for a well-paid superstar unless you have the cap space to absorb his salary. Trades are much more interesting in the MLB than NBA to me, it would be a shame if that went away. You also have to account for the farm system which doesn't exist in the NBA or NFL, will those players count toward a cap? I think inevitably both sides agree around a cap, I just wonder how it will actually work in practice with organizations containing hundreds of players compared to, like, 14 or whatever it is now in NBA; while also being agreeable to the players. Maybe the arbitration system is reformed and players reach free agency earlier. I tend to think that would increase their career earning potential.

Fegan on deadline acquisitions...
This is an important point. Given how bad this staff is, how many arms would we have needed to acquire at the deadline to become serious World Series contenders? 2-3 high quality 2/3 starters, a couple bullpen arms capable of consistently surviving high leverage outings, and a catcher who can hit the ball but also play decent defense? I mean, you can't keep Acuna on a WS contender so we'd have to find a replacement for him, I'd imagine. Do y'all realize we could have emptied out our top 10 prospects and probably still not have a true contending roster? Why the hell would we sacrifice 3-4 top prospects who likely end up in MLB just to win the Central this year? Y'all would be calling for Getz's head come October when the Sox don't even make it out of the ALDS...."HE SACRIFICED OUR FUTURE FOR THIS????"

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
Probably less than 3 hours total travel time from wheels up to settling into their hotel. They will be fine. I'm sure they are all looking forward to it. I guess only decision is if they want to leave tonight or tmr morning. I'd guess the team decided to leave in the morning, get one more sleep at home.

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
Oh god - I hope they can bounce back from that 40 minute flight and at least salvage the last game of the series

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
Unfortunately they'll be spending at least part of that much needed "off" day traveling to Minnesota. ☹️

Lock out 2027
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I can't imagine the Braves simply rely on an AI report for all pro scouting, and there isn't a single human looking at tape/data. Again, there seems like a lot of nuance in a list like this, and not a lot of detail given behind these counts, so the list kind of seems pointless.

8/26 Games
Bonemer starting in CF tonight.

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
It would be a great day for Burke to return to form, and for the offense to build on last night's long-awaited outburst. Win today and make it back-to-back series wins against a red hot Mets team and a team that came in as a division leader.

Lock out 2027
If I am picking up the theme, the places listed as "without" have largely automated with data versus human interactions. In this case it is algo vs scout, which has been a fight for a while now. I know it is being presented one way, but I read it completely as which teams have pushed all in on proprietary data versus human interaction.

This is Milwaukee Brewers starting 3B Andrew Vaughn you guys are talking about??
-
8/25 Games
Max was 92.7. Still had 92 in the 5th when he was towards 90 pitches. He does vary his fastball velo is seems. Probably has to because its not overwhelming. Still had a 40% whiff rate on the change up.

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
Well, off day tomorrow after 16 straight. Either they come out on fire tonight knowing they're off tomorrow or they're already mentally checked out and thinking about some couch time.

Lock out 2027
You are a White Sox season ticket holder, are you not?
-
Lock out 2027
Yeah I don't think this list tells us anything, not sure what the purpose of this exercise was from Jake Mintz. The Braves has 0 pro scouts? The Brewers only have 2? I find that very hard to believe, and if the list isn't an accurate count, then what's the point?

trying to make the least predictable sport more predictable the bigger issue is the mound

Lock out 2027
I think it's a smokescreen. If one is not a baseball fan they could care less. I think it is different with the NFL. I think gambling is more popular than the game. Rare to see those gambling commercials that feature baseball.

Is It Time To Call Up Bonemer?
I did say this. I don't think they'll add him to carry him on the 40-man on all winter and I'd be shocked if he could play a below-average CF. The bat is real though and they likely have to find a spot.

Rest of Season Rotation
With an eye to next year… Mune, get on the recruitment suit boy!

8/26 White Sox vs Rangers: Burke vs Gore 6:40 PM
I’ve been pining for 8 games over since we reached 7 before. LFG - get to 7 and then this time I’ll be looking at 10 in sight!
