  2. Some classic Ron baiting / trolling in this thread! Love it. Makes me wistful for the days he used to double down on Abreu being finished as a player for the better part of 7 years. Who can argue with an eye like Ron’s?
  3. The guys with the highest workloads seem to be performing the best. Taylor, Newcomb, Richards namely. Hudson seems to be falling off, maybe Brazoban. Perhaps they're tired. Or are just normalizing to their true production. Analysis doesn't seem to include minor league innings, Hagen's stuff looks great and Schweitzer has been more than serviceable. Both have pitched a lot of innings this year. Not having a fifth starter the rest of the way is cause for concern to me mostly because it makes too many guys unavailable for the following game or two. Hopefully Martin can return to form, or one of Thorpe, Sandlin, Shane Smith, Schultz, whoever can start and be effective. I dunno, not super concerned about overuse, there's been a bit of churn and burn to account for those IP and the bullpen seems to me to be at a pretty good spot heading into the stretch.
  4. Yea I saw that, looks pretty nice for them. Doubt they will draw many more but having a real air conditioned dome is a big issue and they finally will have it from what I read.
  5. In other stadium news it looks like the Rays are finally going to get their new stadium in Tampa just south of Raymond James stadium. https://www.mlb.com/news/rays-release-documents-outlining-agreement-with-city-of-tampa-for-proposed-stadium
  6. The parallels are wild, even down to the 4th HR to get the Sox to 6 runs being from a catcher! https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA200508210.shtml
  7. Grichuk and Beni, the 2 old pros have been our unsung heroes with lots of clutch hitting.
  8. I was telling my wife yesterday he’s been quietly so solid for us this year. Then he hit that bomb. It was glorious.
  9. I have to give you this. If you don't have an argument, you sure can make up one to get mad about. Again, this isn't about zoning, planning, or anything else typical. This is property law as it applies to railroads, who have been granted near absolute power in this country by virtue of rewriting property law in the late 19th century to seize land to go cross continent and create company towns. You can turn it into a values judgment if you like, but I am stating facts and history here, from first hand experience. My hometown is on the tail end of almost 20 years of dealing with a railroad expansion where despite sitting through dozens of community meetings, studies, environmenal impact statements, etc, they were presented with much smaller impact alternatives, they went forward with exactly what they said they would seizing a few hundred houses and properties through a center swath of town, putting up hideous walls as a barrier along the route so they could increase speeds, closing off a couple of dozen crossings, including a few vital routes for fire and emergency response teams with no care for anything but their bottom line over any community concerns, including literal life and death ones. This wasn't a unique experience either. Towns all up and down this corridor saw the exact same thing play out, regardless of political affiliation, socioeconomic background, or anything other than being in the way of the ideal path.

  11. Also, I don’t think anyone here ( including me ) has really properly appreciated Grich and what he’s meant for our team.
  12. Really hope we see Castillo come out of the gate sharpe and are able to get him to throw like an ace again. We really need some starters to step up and throw like reliable frontend guys.
  13. GreenSox replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
His stuff isn't bad; his command on the other hand.,,, But I agree with comment above - the other orgs turn the Cannons into relievers. The Sox spend their scarce personnel budget on relievers.
  14. Jacob Misiorowski is similarly running away with the NL Cy Young at -750, with Chris Sale (+850) and Cristopher Sanchez (11-1) posing outside shots. In the AL, Cam Schlittler (-170) continues to hold a slim lead over Dylan Cease (+135), with Sonny Gray the only somewhat close contender at 28-1.
  15. Agree, we really haven’t had a period of good consistent pitching all year which is why our longest winning streak has only been 5 games, since we are leading the league in runs scored and if we had more consistent pitching the Sox would probably be leading the division by 8 games.
  16. Also 5 GIDP in 82 PA. Yikes
  17. It's def an interesting area of politics with a lot of brain rot on both ends. In general development is good. There are cases where it's too much too fast, but in general without development cities would decay over time or at best stagnate. I've been part of it for the last 20 years of my life first in Brooklyn now in Seattle, it is disruptive at times, but I sure wouldn't want to live in neighborhoods going the other way. I saw Detroit, Flint, and the entire SE MI area depopulate growing up you don't want that!
