  1. Jerry Reinsdorf would not own a MLB franchise and be a billionare if he wasn't a smart man, but with 10 million (10million!) people in the chicago metro area he could be a lot smarter and a lot richer if he wasnt so small minded. Misplaced loyalty and vindictive grudges have held him back from owning this town. Even with Michael Jordan's legacy he is the most hated, instead of the most loved, man in Chicago. Jerry ask yourself how you want to be remembered.

  2. Also valid. Moreno never led a lockout that fucked over a potential World Series team of his own to claw back a few bucks from the players.

  3. How about wasting numerous years of Frank, Ventura, Magglio, Lee, Konerko, Durham, and Valentin? Wasting two superstars is brutal but so is wasting almost an entire starting lineup of stars or above average power hitters over the years.

  4. In regards to the Sox, if they were trying to contend and had limited 40-man space to work with, leaving him off would make more sense given the injury. They aren't trying to contend and have plenty of 40 man spots to play with, so losing a young valuable arm for nothing would just be negligence IMO. Admittedly I'm a fan of his and would hate to see him go elsewhere.

  5. Moreno at least has been trying to win his entire tenure. Trying to win is much more valuable than what Jerry has been doing imo. That said, obviously John Fisher is worse than Jerry. He doesn't spend any money or try to win, he actively forces stars out of town, he tanked the team and stadium in Oakland so he could move the team to Vegas who doesn't even want a team, and he's now playing in Sacramento in a minor league sham of a stadium. He basically ran a public hate-campaign against Oakland and their fans. At least Jerry has the respect to hate us mostly in private. Jerry has had periods where he invested to win. While the A's have had some nice seasons, it's been in spite of Fisher.

  6. I don’t think he’s always been the worst owner. He was at least average for years. But he is horrible now for sure with both teams. Probably is as bad as there is.

  7. Mike Trout is pretty all right. How has not being willing to spend worked out?

  8. And worth pointing out that MiLB season still happens, except for players on 40-man rosters. I looked this up before because I was curious.

  9. Fisher also moved the team out of Oakland. There were investors ( Bill gates and Reggie Jackson) who wanted to buy the team and keep it in Oakland. Fisher moved the team and stabbed the Oakland fans in the back.

  10. Moreno is at least willing to spend. Trout would have been a free agent without the large extension if he was a White Sox. Ohtani left to chase wins more than he did money.

  11. The Angels have consistently run a Top 10 payroll and at least attempted to compete with the cross town Dodgers instead other totally surrendering the market like JR. They also brought two Hall of Famers in Trout and Ohtani into the game. More like the Phoenix Suns under Ishbia. And more often that not they have tried to run competitive teams out there. Even this year's squad was .500ish for most of the year.

  12. Reinsdorf wasted plenty of primes himself. Ventura and Thomas in the 90s should have been in a lot of playoffs. He chased off Jordan after the second three peat. He refused to allow the front office to super team with LeBron around Derrick in that small window that he was healthy moreno sucks in one sport, Jerry sucks in two

  13. I think Moreno might be worse. Wasting Trout and Ohtani is criminal.

  14. I'm sure what you write is accurate. To him the WS only showed him how he knew more than anyone else. If you remember, he and Krause couldn't wait for the Jordan era to end so they could show it wasn't MJ, it was them. And his baseball is still the same. He's had one way to do things, and what worked in the 80s doesn't work anymore, at least long term. So we are just stuck waiting for his reign of terror to end.

  15. There's a lot of truth in this post, I've thought the same thing myself. Winning the title convinced JR his way was the right way and there was no need to change things. Very glad the Sox finally won the series but the ramifications of winning it may have shaped how things were going to be done moving forward.

  16. #1 they were in the best division in baseball in the AL East. #2, they were still 33 games better than the White Sox in 2024. #3, their 2024 was still 14 games better than the White Sox in 2025.

  18. Of all of the stupid ways Jerry has shot his team in the foot, 1994 takes the cake.

  20. I would be shocked if the entire 2027 season was wiped out myself. The owners will cave long before it gets to that point. They have always done so in the past and I don't foresee that changing now.

  21. The argument is whether Moreno is worse that Jerry Reinsdorf, not whether he's a bad owner. I don't see anyone suggesting Arte Moreno is a good owner for the Angels. I have a hard time concluding that he's actually worse than Jerry Reinsdorf.

  22. It would no doubt be very damaging to the sport. It won't be like 1994 for Sox fans since JR's leadership in tanking what could have been a World Series season for his team totally sunk support for the Sox, but it would be bad for the sport as a whole. I'm not rooting for a lockout, but I also don't want the status quo to be maintained either. We currently have about half the league doing well and have the league in perpetual rebuild-at-best mode.

  23. It’s pretty easy to have very few failed big signings when you barely make any big signings to begin with and are the owner of one of only two teams left in the MLB that hasn’t given out a $100 million dollar contract. By cheapskate Jerry’s spending scale, the Sox have done horribly on most of their biggest signings anyways — see Danks, Dunn, Grandal, Keuchel, Benintendi.

  24. He's willing to spend stupidly. How many of their big signings, outside of Shohei have worked out? I don't want someone to spend for the sake of spending.

  25. In general I would hate this...but not because of the current state of the White Sox! One thing this recent "run" of White Sox baseball has done to me is it has opened me up to enjoying following other teams (Padres are an example). I just love baseball in general and would sorely miss the sport if I had to wait 15 or so months between seasons! But I certainly get what you are saying!

  26. I've said this before - since I'm stuck in baseball hell as a White Sox fan, I'm not going to lose sleep if the 2027 season is wiped out. As far as I'm concerned, the last 3 seasons have been a total loss to me with an unwatchable team anyway. I don't expect many Sox fans to be the ones lying in front of the proverbial bulldozers to stop the 2027 season wrecking crew begging MLB to keep the status quo at all costs.

  27. Nothing really new in this article, but it provides a good summary of where the various Chicago sports teams stand in terms of quests for new stadiums or, in the case of the Blackhawks and Sky, new practice facilities. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/22/chicago-sports-stadiums-who-is-moving/ This comment from Danny Wirtz is noteworthy: “We’re sitting on a lot of parking lots, right?” Wirtz said. “And we see parking has continued to decrease with other modes (of transportation) to get here. We’re absolutely thinking about what the future could look like.”

  28. They also didn't win a world series. If we are taking to account full ownership, Reinsdorf has seven championships and Moreno has zero. I don't like Reinsdorf. I just don't think he's the worst.

  29. Good call back on the Bulls/MJ/Krause stuff. Too bad he didn't learn his lesson then.

  30. I believe he could theoretically stay "hurt" all year, but then he has all the requirements of a R5 again for the following 2027 season. No team is going to do that unless the guy is Skenes level. Plus, is there even going to be a 2027 season? So 2028... I joke, but...

  31. 3 walks after the double for a 1-1 day. Antonacci played both games of the DH and went 3-5 with 3BB, 4 SB, and a HR between them. 5 runs scored on the day. Connor went a combined 2-7 with 2 RBI, a steal, and a BB. Galanie 1-5 with a BB and HBP.

  32. It's weird, but a part of me wonders if 2005 was the worst thing to happen to this franchise long term. Yes we got a title, but it also seems to convince Jerry that he knew what he was doing better than pretty much anyone else except maybe Tony. The last two decades have been a worst case scenario, and Jerry has become more and more convinced he just needs yesmen instead of anyone who might challenge him.

  33. The White Sox and baseball in general were probably THE stabilizing force in my life since I was a child, the one consistent activity I had was watching and talking about white Sox baseball, hence why I joined this site 21 years ago and became a regular. After 35 years of constant disappointment with zero hope in sight I decided to relinquish my fandom and cut the team out of my life. Instead on being jaded and synical, constantly bitching about Sox minutea that will not improve anytime soon I decided to just stop following them one day and you know what? I'm a lot better off for having done so, I'm infinitly happier in my life doing things that I enjoy. My removing the one thing from my life that I held most dear was 100% in response to JR's dreadful fucking ownership, I have zero positive feelings towards that man and the way he chooses to run his sports franchises. Its just further proof that you can find tremendous success in the business world and still be an enormous fucking loser.
