  1. Man, what a lovely video from Kenny. Say what you want about Reinsdorf and how conservative he is with free agents and draft picks, it makes me proud to cheer for a team that won the World Series with a Black GM and a Venezuelan manager, that is by far MLB's leader when it comes to charities and outreach to the community, that has a super strong ACE program, that is represented by diverse, caring people like Anderson, Giolito, and Eloy. They don't give rings for that stuff, but it's a big reason I'm a Sox fan. Compare that to rooting for the Ricketts.

  2. Is this honestly a suprise though? I would hope when they finalize their deal, they put a plan in place for these things. To not plan for players to get the virus is foolish. It's going to happen. I don't see how it's changed much from when negotiations started back in March in regards to the virus, when things were much, much worse and not much was known about it.

  3. My guess would be Heuer is on the taxi squad initially but ready to go whenever. If the rules for this season are 65 games and expanded playoffs, the White Sox should be all hands on deck.

  4. man Collins is not as bad of a catcher as some people make him out to be. He is a below ave catcher. He is not the butcher Mercedes is. He more than acceptable to catch 30-40 games in a regular season. And if he hits in the bigs he will be a very valuable piece to have.

  5. When climate change and other science has been politicized for 2 decades, I can't really say I'm that surprised. We have to fundamentally change the system because of this. People are going to be out of work long-term, not able to pay rent/their mortgage, we're going to run into food shortages etc. This is going to be a huge problem.

  6. Is it counting this year? If so it'd be: Zack Collins, Zack Burdi, Jimmy Lambert (Hansen, Call, Fisher), Jake Burger, Gavin Sheets, Luis Gonzalez, Lincoln Henzman, Tyler Johnson, Nick Madrigal, Steele Walker, Konnor Pilkington, Lency Delgado, Jonathan Stiever, Andrew Vaughn, Matthew Thompson, Andrew Dalquist and James Beard. The point is that using the first 5 rounds is stupid. If you're going to use WAR, just do it based on all 40 rounds since teams don't take players in order anyway. The drafts don't appear to be great from 2016-2017, but there are numerous future big leaguers in this 5 year span.

  7. There's talk that MLB will put together a prospect league to replace its traditional Arizona Fall League. What could those teams look like? Sean Williams broke down how the White Sox could measure up earlier this week: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/06/16/taking-a-look-at-a-potential-all-white-sox-arizona-fall-league-roster/

  8. Plus electricity, plus license plate and registration fees, plus insurance, plus tolls (maybe), plus any loan interest (if not bought with cash), plus potentially any village/city sticker fees, etc. I like Tesla and my next vehicle is likely to be a PHEV or possibly an EV, but let's be real here if you are going to talk "cost of ownership".

  9. Does anyone else think that Collins or Mercedes could be traded to an NL team now that they've adopted the DH? Was looking for other people's thoughts on this. There's also the option that they keep Collins in case Encarnacion sucks, which is always a possibility because he's old.

  12. We have 20+ states that now have rising cases because they stuck their fingers in their ears and said "EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE FINE I CAN'T HEAR YOU". Wishful thinking is running rampant. This is no different. They're going to try, and then they're going to have to figure out what to do when they get hit with outbreak after outbreak because it's so prevalent in this country. Who knows, they may decide they're ok with it as they go along, generally the athletes themselves are all in the "low to moderate risk age range". I will give the NBA some credit as a true "bubble" may still work.

  14. Still can’t actually believe 19,000 Americans are going to fill an arena with no mask requirement to enter...in the same exact state out of 50 that has had the highest growth rate in Covid cases. It’s beyond even idiocracy or similar derogative phrases like American Idiot. Seems like every other week, we experience yet another surreal moment that doesn’t even seem possible in the America we all grew up in.

Next most needy, three days, next most two days, and the fourth group will be 100% on line. I'm so happy we're looking at the full needs of our students going beyond the academics.

  17. Agreed. I have mixed feelings. It's probably pretty dumb to have a season now. If the owners announced cancellation this weekend I wouldn't blame them. Coming back is a PR nightmare waiting to happen. If MLB or any other sport tries to play I expect it to be a disaster where it's cancelled due to a huge covid outbreak. I miss sports as much as anyone, but the brain tells me it's dumb, even though I want it back badly.

  18. Here's my prediction. They don't finish the season. There will be too many sick players and the season will be called off by the middle of September. If the owners truly wanted a shorter season they should have used the safety of the players as justification.

  20. but do you want your backup to be a bad defender? I feel like it's often the opposite. You want a good defensive backup

  23. Where can I get my AFL White Sox cap...I'm ready!!! I'm especially intrigued to see that outfield in action. If any of those 3 took a big step this year, that could be huge for the future imho.

  24. Abreu is signed through 2022. Vaughn won't be in the Bigs until 2021 at the earliest. Eloy can hold down LF for 2 more seasons. Not to mention, according to you, baseball is cancelled until 2023.

  25. Now that they extended Abreu, they don't have a spot for him. Eloy is going to be the DH eventually. I think Vaughn is going to be a .300+/25/100+ type guy with an OBP approaching .400 and 40+ doubles. I don't want to trade him either, but re-signing Abreu kinda, um, makes it hard to find a spot for him
