At the risk of sounding like a prick ( I know, I know...what are the odds? ), and with ALL DUE RESPECT for what Edgar's done in his career, I can say that I've never once attended a game or turned on a television because Edgar Martinez was going to be there. He had a real nice career, but I really can't say I'll miss him when he's gone.

I saw a guy at the 8/21 Sox/Red Sawks game who was wearing a 2003 American League All-Star replica jersey that read "AMERICAA" on the front instead of "AMERICAN". I did a double-take worthy of Dick Van Dyke and laughed at the jersey. The guy didn't seem to realize why I was laughing. Oh well...

They used to say similar things about Wayne Gretzky. He supposedly could see a play developing faster or more easily than other players, so he would go to where the play was going to be rather than where the play was at the time. That could be called "anticipation skills", I guess, but it's neither here nor there... "They" weren't saying these things about ICHIRO! when he was hitting .270 in May, though, were "they"? 50 hits per month for 3 months can change an "expert"s opinion of a guy, can't they? Experts....HA....

While I dream a sweet pipedream of Edgar Renteria, I realize that will NEVER happen, so I'm interested in seeing some of Wilson Valdez this month and in Spring Training. Hopefully, he can make the SS situation interesting and competitive. Renteria-type money would probably be better spent on pitching anyway.

Not going, I think I'm done for the year, unless I use the last 1/2 price coupon from my daughter's Silver & Black Pack deal. Haven't really decided yet. I can only use them on Wednesday & Thursdays so I doubt I'll go.

I'd love to see a guy with "Glen" or "Chuck" on his jersey! That would be funny! Ichiro is a lot of fun to watch - have you noticed the size of his glove?? I had right-field seats and I was like DAMN, WHAT A BUSHEL BASKET!!

Not sure about that, but he's an Oak Lawn kid. From his picture on whitesox.com I couldn't really get a handle on his nationality. He's had some fairly serious arm problems and came through them to make it to The Show, so much credit to him for that!

This is true. The only thing scarier to me than Carl rotting on the bench for 4 million bucks is Carl rumbling around right field next year. I was just referring to this year's aspect of the trade, didn't really consider next year. Though I will say that I don't expect Rauch to be good next year, or ever.

As much as I like Rowand, I wouldn't compare his offensive talents with Maggs. Rowand's defense is better, although Maggs is underrated defensively IMO. I'll miss Maggs, for sure. It's a real shame that it had to end like this.

All true, that was a crappy rainy cold afternoon. Sun was shining when I got to the park but as soon as the game started the weather went to s***.

Rauch has been so-so then injured for Montreal. Everett has been so-so for the Sox. Majewski didn't really ever seem to be spoken about as a serious prospect here. I'd call the whole thing a wash.
