  1. This seems like a terrible misrepresentation. Tim is complaining about the org. Then says he's not looking in the LF dollars market and it's a shame because the org doesn't go bigger than that. He literally says "dudes a great player" after he brings it up. Don't feel like there was any shot at andrew.
  2. Padres signed Darvish to 6 (4) year extension for 108 million. Starts next year. Wild.
  3. Again. It's never happened. Problem is you're thinking like a die hard white sox fan and not like a CEO trying to elevate brand awareness. Also, why would Reinsdorf care if they called it at Comiskey Park. It was comiskey the first 10 years of his ownership. He sold the rights to the name to make more money. Other teams were doing it. If someone wanted to pay him more, why would he say no?
  4. But oriole Park and Camden yards are not brands who bought naming rights. Camden is the street and the name the governor wanted and oriole Park is self explained and the name the team wanted.
  5. That wintrust wanted to spend a ton of money to rename a stadium an old name that has nothing to do with them? That just makes no sense. Given the point of naming rights is advertising and getting eyeballs, there's a reason no one has won naming rights to a stadium and called it something unrelated to them. Businesses just don't operate that way.
  6. Thought we traded for Domingo German and we were cornering the market on domestic abusers. * *I should add alleged. My pal rabbit gets mad when you don't assume the woman is lying.
  7. Enjoyed the read, not saying anything is not true or made up by you, but this part is clearly bullshit: “Wintrust offered a much better deal than Guaranteed Rate but part of what Wintrust wanted is the name had to be changed back to Comiskey Park and Jerry Reinsdorf didn’t like that at all. He also wasn’t told some of the details in the agreement that may have made a difference had he knew.”
  8. They'd be crazy to start Maeda over Ober imo. Maeda about to be 35, out all last year and already had an injury history. Maybe you can get some meaningful 6th starter outings out of him and some decent relief work. If he threw over 100 innings this year I'd be very surprised.
  9. You think they put Ober in the pen? I was thinking it would be Ryan, Gray, Lopez, Ober and Mahle. Paddack out. Ober better than the rest when he pitched and being that big out of the pen can be challenging.
  10. Lopez is awesome. He's had some weirdness happen to him in his career, but he was one of the best arms in baseball first half last year before breaking down a bit in the 2nd half. He had never thrown more than 120 innings in a pro season until last year, but he's got a great build and think he can be a horse. Wouldn't at all shock me to see Lopez in the top 5 of AL Cy voting in one of the next two years.
  11. Just keeps getting worse and worse. Twins cleaned up the marlins
  12. Arraez is a terrible defender. He has no power. His ceiling is very similar to last year. He's a 3 WAR player. Not bad, but Lopez has a much better ceiling. Pablo Lopez broke down a little last year with the inning jump. He's a 4-5 war pitcher (with even higher peaks) over the next 5 years. Twins cleaned up here.
  13. Pablo Lopez is awesome. A much better asset than arraez imo. Not even close. Twins cleaned up.
  14. You guys acting like this isn't still pretty short arm action is crazy to me.
  15. Not sure who this is, but I agree. Pretty much what I was breaking down. This is a good refinement and not a full fledged change. Lucas body is different than it was and it'll continue to evolve. Changes to maintaining balance and a strong base through the ball are always needed. With Lucas he's just much more vocal and open about the work so it goes more noticed.
  16. Tech can work miracles. Lucas lost a little velocity before last year and got some bad body advice, and thought bulking would assist. Flexibility and band training are really what builds and maintains velo. It happens when you have so many trainers and people in your ear. Played with a kid I thought would be a big leaguer. Top tier player in the Midwest at showcases. Went to school and got huge in the weight room. Lost all his Flexibility and fluidity in his swing. Works for some but doesn't work for others in baseball. In regards to the arm action, this isn't some full extension parallel to the ground midpoint. He's still relatively short but he's giving his arm a little more time to not be out in front of his body/legs. This type of change is likely driven by good data and high speed tracking, which to me is way more reliable than work out ideas. I think Lucas has the best year of his career this year.
  17. Yeah. I don't expect or need Lynn to be a cardio monster running steps and being chiseled... but coming in incredibly overweight with very little training at his age and on his knees is just reckless.
  18. You in mid-season form and it's not even February. He's wearing sneakers throwing off a mat lol.
  19. lol this is the type of s%*# cohen and JR could bond over!
  20. I wonder if the concern is more around the fact that they might not be able to get the deal insured because of this history. It's why it might not of held up any deal with the Twins. This isn't a new injury/issue for Correa, so amazed that it's causing this type of hold up.
  21. Which is crazy, since going into that last CBA they were (depending on the metric you used) getting the smallest % of the revenue pie of the major sports. I don't know if that's been changed with the CBA and will need time to determine, but all-in-all, the lack of a cap has led to a perceived collusion by owners to slow salaries more-so than revenue growth. Cohen has thrown a wrench into that concept, but will other owners actually match or try and compete there? I doubt it for most.
