Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I said I was forced? You seem to have very strong opinions about people who don't agree with you when they post here yet you can't possibly understand someone having the same perspective but around a different opinion? -

I really love this in theory, but it's hard to get on board when considering that the White Sox have destroyed Luis Robert and expecting them to fix him feels like a pipe dream. That said, I won't be mad if I get to continue watching Luis because while many have soured on him here, he's still the most exciting player on this team by a mile. -

There are definitely enough FA this off-season to make this club competitive next year. Competitive meaning... I don't have to watch everyone here celebrate Chris Getz "turning the organization around" while the White Sox are fucking 40-69. I feel like I'm going crazy reading the optimism here lately. It truly proves Jerry's thought that if you set the bar in a certain place, you can trick fans. No reason this team can't sign 5 guys and turn this into a team trying to hover near 500 and maybe surprise someone. Every bad team has good stretches though. -

All we have to go off of was the speculation throughout the 2nd half of last year and off-season and that speculation = much more valuable than he is today. -

I hate Josh Naylor so much I can't cosign this. He is the definition of a guy we sign who comes here and has a 600 OPS, gains 95 pounds, and gets caught yanking it in a parking lot. -
Red Sox "more interested in" Civale than Houser
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I guess there could be very limited interest, but insane to hold on to Tauchman. You've struck gold with him having a career year, and banking on him at 35 years old next year to start is just wild. -

Agree 100%. If you're trying to acquire Robert it's because you understand he's a difference maker (possibly), and if you believe that then you believe he could end up being a bargain. -

The White Sox simply gambled on the wrong guy. They could have gotten a good haul for Robert this past off-season but they decided to trade Crochet instead. If they held Crochet until deadline and traded Robert, they'd be in an incredible position and would have acquired a lot more prospect capital. Timing is as important to trades as anything else in the process. -

LOL I'd love to know what team out there, looking to acquire Robert, wouldn't be willing to pay him 20 million when the White Sox are willing to do so. -
Padres acquiring Mason Miller & J.P. Sears from A's

It means it was a nice trade, jaysus man. I said it three times. My other points are just around how trades are discussed in general. The idea that this guy is a consensus top 5 prospect is a public-consensus which is significantly different than where teams value guys. I then went on to explain it pretty in depth and nicely here: "For example, I know several teams wouldn't have an 18 year old that low in the farm in their top 5 because the risk associated with the time-to-majors is substantial. Look at former top prospect, within the same farm, Salas who people had "consensus in the top 10 prospect" just a couple years ago." You have a hard time just saying you misread something and moving on. Trying to tell me what i said over and over again is beyond weird. -
Phillies acquiring Harrison Bader from Twins
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Said it elsewhere, but Bader and Robert aren't all that similar in my opinion. Robert is a much better base runner, he's equal defensively, and his bat is much better. Bader has had a better year productivity wise, but his xWOBA is in the 24th percentile. Robert is up to the 42nd percentile and climbing. Bader fills a hole with a guy. Teams acquiring Robert are hoping he gets hot and can carry the offense at times. Bader isn't carrying any offenses. -

Everyone in the thread was calling it a big win for Oakland. I chime in saying it's a nice deal and that prospects are being overvalued. Somehow you've taken that to mean I said something I never said. Weird stuff! -

As I referenced there, I wouldn't really take to much credence in a guy being exactly #15 for example. I more-so review that tool to see if a player has increased or decreased value perceptually YoY across the league, but where they sit on an individual team board is so relative to that teams situation and their organizational strengths. For example, I know several teams wouldn't have an 18 year old that low in the farm in their top 5 because the risk associated with the time-to-majors is substantial. Look at former top prospect, within the same farm, Salas who people had "consensus in the top 10 prospect" just a couple years ago. -

Pretty skeptical miller can start and if he can, hes not crochet. This just tells me the Sox could have cleaned up even more if they held garrett. -

I dont buy much consensus noise knowing what I know about how teams value guys. The odds that the kid is in the top 5 of 50% of teams individual values is less than 50/50. -

Nice deal. Prospects are so overrated by market and fans these days it's insane. -

Pretty funny to toot bader who has expected numbers much worse than robert. The outcome has been better, but much of that is just noise. -

If the Sox could get Mick Abel for Luis Robert they should have traded yesterday. Obviously this is a fake account but just saying. -

Crochet Trade Outcome Tracker

I find it to be a decent barometer for league perspectives on trade value as its the only series that gets front office thoughts from most teams to determine a players spot. Do I think it defines value? Nope, but I do think a guy going from HM to top 17 is likely a guy the league views more fondly than they did the year prior. I also dont think it should be a surprise to anyone that crochet staying healthy and leading baseball in IP would increase his value quite a bit given that his only concern was health and durability. Also @MEANS, why don't you try participating in the discussion for once instead of going around adding bag emoji's over all my posts. While I appreciate the emojis, I'm sure you'd enjoy it more if you just got to call me a dope instead of using the emoji. -

Well, take it up with the ranking he received. I'd usually hesitate to cite anything publicly available as a good barometer, but they do a good job communicating with team leaders throughout the league and getting a good baseline. It seems undeniable that he's worth more today than he was even 5 months ago. -

Because he is worth more today post extension than he was worth pre-trade. Doesn't mean they can't do well in the trade they did make
