The 35 pick is worth like 9 million. A 45 FV player close to the mlb is worth like 16-20 million. Ignore opinions, etc. Value stinks.

There are a million Jaden woods out there. Miguel vargas wasn't an MLB quality 3rd baseman coming into the year. Guess they should trade him at his value then and not today. What nonsense is this.

If the Sox trade Jacob Gonzalez for a comp pick, that's a bad trade. How isn't it? They took him 20+ picks before, spent time and money developing him, he turns a corner and becomes a prospect of meaning and you trade him to... do it all over again?

Emerson absolutely with grade inflation there. Everything ive read about them both from people that saw both was that Emerson clearly isn't Witt. I'd rather have Emerson than Roch though. I'm gonna be bummed if they go Roch.

One thing I think about with the 2024 draft is that somehow the Sox made the only s%*# pick in the top 9. I think he's got a shot of being the worst pick in the top 14. Christian Moore is still a bit TBD, but he's at least looked great in the minors and already forced the issue.

I'll add he didn't look great in the outing I saw versus a pretty bad team. My buddy is not a fan of his as a prospect and doesn't think he could be a freshman starter for a big school like FSU, for whatever that is worth.

Yeah, I also just don't love High Schoolers at 98 and 99 MPH. Especially given his very limited track record dedicated to pitching. My ideal pitching prospect sits about 92-94 in high school and grows into velocity as a pro. This, from what I've looked into in my life, gives you a better chance of avoiding injury and sustaining velo throughout your pro career. There are tons of stories of high schoolers drafted throwing 98+ in high school who peak at that velocity and trend downward as pros. Projectable pitchers, at that age, have a better track record of success imo.

Maximize the chances you have, as the next one isn't guaranteed. I agree with this, but at the same time I'm still trading Taylor because I think I can help this team more by moving him too. I'm a huge fan of Taylor's, but absolutely hate how the team has managed him so think he's worth more to someone else.

Actually seen Slightom as my best pal is a varsity coach in conference. My concern there is he really doesn't have any secondary stuff right now. The change is getting some love but I'm not sold. Seems like a pretty big project but obviously great upside and a very good athlete. I would prefer contreras personally.

Same as last year, I'm 100% trading Taylor since I have no faith this team turns him into a starter anymore.

I just mean this organization had no issues developing and churning out pitching for the last two+ decades. One of the best orgs in the business at doing that. They couldn't develop players to save their life, but pitching was a different story.

Still not over Vargas yelling at Ant for not scoring on his double from second base the other day. Vargas is dead to me after that incident!

Did he though? This team has churned out plenty of high end arm talent. Yeah, this is the biggest issue with moving these guys to the pen. The innings play a role, but it's the fact that they basically become two pitch pitchers out of the pen so they spend years not working on their whole repertoire in the game.

Lackey and Emerson having the same Power grade is interesting. I also think a 55 glove for Lackey is light. Baseball is moving towards an automated zone so arm, pop time and mobility behind the plate become the metrics that matter most as controlling the run game shoots up the priority list and his pop time is 1.85 seconds. I think the arm is also light. I had read somewhere earlier this year he'd been clocked at 95mph out of the pop.

Wasting bullets in the minors lol. McDougal has looked serviceable for 113 of his career 311 minor league innings, and even then he was rocking a WHIP of 1.332 in a very pitcher friendly environment. That WHIP in the minor leagues would rank him in the back 30% of MLB relievers. When adjusting for environment, his 1.54 WHIP puts him in Erik Fedde territory (140ish of 150ish arms). The way we talk about McDougal here has always been a bit odd to me. It's not like the guy has forced the issue.

Bobby Jenks? I'm seriously envious of your optimism. Before, McDougal was your solution for the rotation woes. Now he's suddenly Bobby Jenks. Hicks is the 2nd or 3rd best reliever on the team. I'd take Hicks over Hudson. I've only been wrong about Hicks for 8 years now too so I'm due!

I'm so confused... Sandlin and Schultz have almost identical numbers. 6 ERA's, FIP's around 5.3. Lefties have a near 1000 OPS against Sandlin. He doesn't have a pitch to get lefties out, and to me he's profiling as a reliever.

I still have serious reservations about both. I think Burke at least has the arm talent to work it out, but seems hard to sustain success with one + pitch only. At least it's the fastball so there's some hope but everything else grades out pretty poorly. Martin, by stuff metrics, doesn't have a single + pitch. He's definitely getting more out of the sum of his parts. I'm pretty skeptical of the sustainability of that.

Not sure about this... Bannister has certainly gotten more out of the arms than their talent is worth. Their pitching staff getting better results than expected is a big part of this year. I think the issue is the new Sox regime is completely lost when it comes to identifying pitching talent.

This is a byproduct of their inability to identify any pitching at all. Another starter they're moving to the bullpen. Can't think of another team treating their SP prospects like this.
