  1. Which is my exact point, it wasn't his dream.
  2. Doubtful it's more than money. It's a job, most people want to be paid what they're worth at work. He wanted the flexibility and top line dollars for the baseball role, which makes complete sense. I just don't need to hear how it was his dream in life and he was being forced to leave it. You don't abandon dreams over contract dispute.
  3. Jason benetti is making more than enough money to not have to change jobs to make the absolute most.
  4. I had a childhood dream to be the White Sox GM. If I was making millions to do it, I wouldn't give a damn if someone wanted to pay me more. Reality is, the narrative that it was his dream is just a part of his story. He was a Sox fan growing up, but he clearly views this as a job and not a dream. People don't care about maximizing their earnings entirely for dreams. Just my opinion and not a shot at Jason at all. It is a job, but people need to stop with this narrative that it's so terrible he had to abandon his dream. I'm sure Jason is doing just fine financially
  5. Correct, the product sucks and having some guy talk about s%*# doesn't turn it to diamonds. Benetti was fine, better than most but who cares? I'm watching baseball, not listening for an announcer. They can add to a solid product but they absolutely don't prop up a s%*# one.
  6. There were a ton of misses with the rebuild, but la Russa over bochy really sent things downhill. He's the best manager of the past 50 years and it's not close.
  7. I want it on record, unless I'm wrong then everyone forget it, I am intrigued by Eder still. Big guys take a lot longer to put it together command wise sometimes, and command and stuff taking a step back later in a coming-off-injury year is totally normal. The concern for me is health - can he even get enough reps to find the pieces. I still think there's a lot more to complain about than him and while I wish we still had burger, Eder is a lottery ticket I think cashes more than not and his upside is exciting.
  8. Agreed, which honestly just shows you how big of a dbag bauer is!
  9. Actually being impossible to work with often times leads to not having a job.
  10. Bauer wasn't banned because of what he allegedly did at the time: 1. Bauer was banned because he's a prick and he's universally hated; when he was accused and being investigated, he attacked baseball. Meanwhile, someone like Marcel Ozuna and Urias have committed terrible acts but they've shut up, been good little soldiers, and were admitted back into the game. 2. Bauer faces 3 other accusers currently. Could it all be BS? I mean, I guess but this really is a reflection of what an asshat this guy is. I've said this before but baseball, generally speaking, is a conservative game; players lean towards being conservative, leadership certainly is, and politically speaking Bauer is not an outsider. He's just such a d-bag that the only friends he ever makes around the game are guys like Clevinger. Both Clevinger and Bauer might not be woman abusers (they also very well might be, as where there's smoke often times there are fires in that world), but they're shitty human beings even beyond your typical rich-prick standard.
  11. Kapler would be an awful hire. The guy covered up sexual assault when he was with the Dodgers. I'm good. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/2/6/18213283/gabe-kapler-los-angeles-dodgers-philadelphia-phillies
  12. You're obsessed with this vizquel thing. Chris Getz was given a piece of paper and he read it. Vizquel was in the game for 30 years and plenty of people said nice things about him. He was a bad guy. Chris Getz has a lot of question marks but reading a statement written by white sox council isn't one of them.
  13. They're going to lose 100+ games and this moron won't sacrifice a win today for possible future wins via development. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard a professional coach say.
  14. This is crazy talk; Chris Getz is set for life in the baseball world and he owes it to Jerry. What a break. Jim Bowden still has a job in the baseball space and he is about as toxic as you can find.
  15. Yeah, people keep saying it could but it just really can't... This was the peak year of a "contention" window when they were "All-in" and they are going to lose 100 games. They may lose 100 games again under Getz, but there will never be a more hyped failure than this team this year for me. I have watched plenty of bad baseball, that's what it is... I'll be back for that... but the expectations and kind of failure this year is unmatched in my lifetime.
  16. I actually think the industry definitely over corrected a bit on the scouting side and that part isn't that dumb.
  17. Yeah, this is where I am. Also, this is obviously a ridiculous hire. No way around that. But unlike some others I'll take anything over Rick and for me, I'd much rather have a complete unknown than an old-game retread. Getz was a bad hire but it wasn't the worst hire. Dayton Moore, for example, would have been a much worse POBO. I got excited for deangelo Jimenez and Brett Lawrie, so I'm not going to pretend I won't give something new a shot. And to me... at least the failure won't be followed up the exact same guy spewing completely insulting bullshit. I would give caufield a chance at running this if it just meant I could stop listening to Rick Hahn and everyone who makes mini excuses for his colossal ineptitude. So this for me is a win because the bar for a win was set so low, I'll take what I can.
  18. Repeat after me, it can only get better than Hahn. Because there's no such thing as worse than the current state of affairs.
  19. I think an AH shared sports complex and entertainment area would actually be pretty awesome..
  20. Rizzo can run and build an org. He would be a great add.
  21. I will never stop being amazed at all the excuses made for Rick Hahn.
  22. Cali, I'm telling you that it doesn't matter what Jerry wants or thinks, he's a business man. If I can model and project an roi based on these investments that exceeds the roi under the current structure, Jerry would buy in. The job of management is to push and sell these ideas to make them viable and feasible in ownerships eyes. I deal with this daily. C-suit and BOD's are hesitant to make overhauls or change. My job is to assess exposure/liability, identify gaps, and overhaul systematic structures to realign a business or process in a way that is beneficial for the organization. The most common thing I hear is we tried this a few years ago or etc and it was shot down so we stopped/gave up. This breeds complacency which is what we saw with the Sox. It's not that people like Jerry refuse to change, it's that the people around them accept the status quo and that permeates onto anyone who comes in below those leaders.
  23. Agreed. Problem is he learned from two crappy systems but maybe he has fresh ideas and can overhaul things. Better than Rick or Dayton in charge.
