Can the sox have the best farm system in baseball after the deadline
Mlb.com about as good at scouting and prospect rankings as caufield is at citing sources.

Can the sox have the best farm system in baseball after the deadline
They could be the only team that doesn't have a viable MLB player.

June 7th. BoSox vs Crochet. Streak-Ender.
If crochet is on his game tonight, this could be one of the best pitched games you ever see. Boston stinks versus lefties.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
Our last couple drafts looking solid so far. While that 1.1 is nice, baseball is won by hitting on a handful of players per draft in some capacity.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
Drafting highly is whatever in baseball. It matters much less than in other sports.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
2027 is a long way away. An eternity in baseball years. Saying this is just doom and gloom or younger folks speaking.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
I'm not sure how many times this needs to be brought up, but when you have two good MLB players it's not impressive to have a nice AA roster.

12 losses in a row. Someone needs to resign or be fired. New Maldonado line at .080
Schriffen last night... Pedro always says anything we get with thr bat from Martin is just a bonuss.. John, that's to excuse a guy hitting like 210 and playing elite defense. Not to excuse a guy hitting. 080

Maybe Montgomery isn't going to make it.
I worry when guys dont improve or adapt. I'm not worried about Colson at all given his age, being a Midwest kid with limited amateur reps, and his continued development. I'd be worried if we were sitting here next year with the same circumstance. Right now, he's going through what every baseball player ever has gone through - a period of challenge and adaptation. Worries only come when you see little change.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
While that call today was hilariously bad I actually thought the most hilariously stupid thing he did today was ask Stone if you let Fletcher swing 3-0 with no outs down one. Stone quickly says no, and he says "not even after the catch?" Fletcher hitting 180 something. ?

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
Sale threw 143 innings the year he was drafted.

Rooting against the Sox
I don't have anything against the players so no reason to root for them to be historically bad. They're all out there playing for their careers; which is probably why of all the dumb s%*# Pedro has said and done this one where he called to question their effort is the first we heard push back.

Amazing how many words have been wasted on this.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Yeah, this is true for some. The reason I wanted Wheeler so badly is because he was a true ace unicorn; deep into games, big innings and efficient. Those are the only starters I would pay big money. Wheeler a great example of why injuries are not predictive too; hurt a lot in his 20s and I think he'll be the best work horse in the game for a 6-8 year period (he's in year 4 now). Limiting innings due to injuries in your youth isn't actually a horrible thing. Crochet really efficient, big and commands the zone. He's got a lot of the attributes I look for in guys which is why he has me so hyped.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Agreed, although I worry about ceases long term durability given his frame. Cease isn't bad and 30+ starts three years in a row is awesome. I just always wanted to move cease. You can't be a #1 in this game if you can't get out of the sixth inning and he'll warrant #1 money for a lot of other reasons.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Weird. I wouldn't pay Cease at all. He's not the type of arm I would pay. He just doesn't get deep enough into baseball games. It doesn't mean he's not good, but he's just not the type of arm I'd pay. Crochet is incredibly efficient with his pitches, and he's got a great build. I would pay Crochet well before Cease if I was going to bet on one or the other.

Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
I like to make bold calls so I'll say I'd rather have crochet next 4 years than Cease. Even including the big innings edge cease will have this year.
-

He's not just good, he's in elite company doing the things he can control as a pitcher.

A good org identifies as early as possible. Of guys with a k% > 32, who have thrown 50 or more innings as a starter since 2019, only two have had a bb% as low as Garrett (Scherzer and Degrom) and he's 7th in K-BB rate for anyone with > 50IP as a starter since 2015. Crochet is special. If he stays healthy he's in a 1-1 conversation. Health is a risk, but the tools are there.

1b of the future
Olson got 168 million and is a much better player. Pete will be lucky to get 125 and that'll be an overpay. Sportrac is insane with that estimate.

What can we dream on for Fedde?
Way more then that.

Statcast batspeed data is out
That ties out to pitch selection too in relation to bat speed. Meaning tim was great bat to ball, squared a lot up and had quick hands/short bat path but his plate discipline and pitch selection meant he didn't get the exit velo --- very similar to arraez (except arraez never misses) in that he caught a ton of contact on the sweet spot of the bat but his damage was limited by his swing choices.

Statcast batspeed data is out
While a cool data set with some new correlations that can be run, and some cool bat path info, I struggle to see how any of this tells a different story than exit velocity. I'm not sure bat speed is all that important in the grand scheme of things --- at least once you reach this level. There are people who suck at the top and people who are great near the bottom. Obviously it has importance but that was shown to us primarily with Exit Velo's.
