  1. Makes sense. My thought is when Korey came up last year he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire in aaa. Momentum and confidence is important for young ballplayers. Perhaps you let him start at aaa and if he runs into a hot streak you give him another chance. People wanted depth, this is depth. Old depth sure better to have some options. 4 million and league minimum for 3 catchers seems fine to me.
  2. Yikes, then release him. Nobody should be losing sleep over Korey Lee being blocked, or losing mlb at bats. Breathe.
  3. Determination? No. But clear as day the kid is not ready and I think throwing him in the fire will only further erode his confidence. Give him abs in the minors and allow him to be around a few seasoned vets in spring training.
  4. Right, which is why, as mentioned, of the players Getz has brought in they all seem to be decent dudes, with good work ethic and desire. Maldo is just one. I'm not saying this is all ideal but I get what he's trying to do and I'm at least curious. I'd be more sold with a new manager, but that may come by June.
  5. I don't think Lee is capable of .150 let alone .190. Everyone here has been complaining about the culture of this team and by all appearances, Maldonado and several other new additions will be great changing the culture moving forward. There seems to be very specific attention being paid to the character and preparation of these incoming players and I'm interested to see how it goes. Look at Maldonado as a player/coach.
  6. Chicago is an improv powerhouse. A lot of young, comedic actors come from here. Good odds that it was a cast members jersey laying around backstage and she just grabbed it and threw it on. Cool nonetheless. I like her. Snl not so much.
  7. Getz has been creative so far. Ill give him that. If he could creatively remove Grifol we'd be set.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/blue-jays-to-reportedly-sign-shohei-ohtani.html Looks like it's gonna be the jays.....others saying they're just the front runner but should be something soon. This would be good news.
  9. Quiet you, with your common sense.
  10. If these moves are a precursor to getting an mlb ready 2nd baseman for Cease (Busch, Ortiz) it makes a lot of sense. 2024 seems like it'll be a "kids can play" type season with a few vets filling in the holes in a bridge year, and honestly that's probably the best we can hope for in 2024. Either it will be nice to watch some quality defense, even if there's no offense.
  11. My God the attendance was a disaster because of his own dedication to loyalty resulting in the worst front office in the game. How can he possibly be this dumb? Great. More prospects to watch. Can't wait til this rebuild fails and we start over in 2028.
  12. Anything think Stone will just up and retire?
  13. Tony Larussa to the broadcast booth?
  14. I can't imagine Stone will want to stay.
  15. If Beckham is in that booth next year I'm not sure I'll be able to watch
  16. The money was available.....Jerry chose not to spend it.
  17. I agree with this 100 %. And I love all the rebuild talk. This organization had every tool available for an exceedingly successful rebuild and failed in every way. I don't like the idea of waiting 4 years for them to do it again. The hell with it at this point. Bring me washed up veteran's for that lighting in a bottle. Anything is better than this.
  18. Honestly, a veteran lefty like Montgomery or Snell would go a long way towards repairing relations with fans and showing a level of seriousness. Will it happen? No. But a lefty veteran to anchor the staff from 2024 into its next young contending team should almost be a no brainer.
  19. I, too, would like to give Getz a chance. But not removing Grifol is a giant red flag right out the gate. If he pleasantly surprises me in the off season, great. But Grifol remaining is killing any optimism for me.
  20. I think you nailed it here. So I apologize for any snarkiness. I was responding based on the understanding that yes, independently, a victim cannot bring charges, that it is all contingent on elements of the crime, evidence, state evaluation and law enforcement response. And the fact that right or wrong, they won't do it without a cooperating victim.
  21. Yeah, again, not true. Police can act as complainants on things like public safety violations (gun charges, domestic battery with an intimidated victim, narcotics offenses, or even discharge of a firearm from the example you provided). However when a victim completes a report for theft, battery, assault, auto theft, etc. they need to sign off on willingness to pursue charges (in cook county a criminal complaint). The state is not going to put time and effort into investigation, prosecution and incarceration if the victim says "meh, I got my stolen goods back don't care." The state will file the complaint but not without cooperation from a victim. If a person is a victim of domestic battery and says "this person just punched me please arrest them." Police can't just say "woah woah whoah, we make that decision."
