QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) 300 I believe... Well I just faxed in my order for 2.6% of that 300 person total.

I didnt get mine yet either. Somehow I'm not suprised as my mail is delivered out of a molester van as opposed to a mail truck. It's always a few days behind. :banghead

Once again, proof in fact, that all men are not created equal.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) The more info the better, I've already googled Steff's pizza place, looks good. It looks like it'll be the Detroit game on Saturday. i'm looking on the sox site and can still get tickets for BOX149 row23 Lower Box Left Field Lower Level . Am I being stupid thinking I can get seats nearer the diamond. BTW I can't believe how cheep these tickets are compared with UK sports tickets. 162 games (81 home)...more supply, less demand. One day I plan on heading over to England for a few premier league games...I'll probably be bugging you with similar questions. And those are pretty good seats by the way. You might as well pull the trigger while you can

This thread is kinda funny...you know how much of 'information overload' this must be for someone who has never been to chicago? Eat here, u have to eat this, go there, do this, we'll tailgate, sit in the lower deck, blah blah blah. hehe..well at least we all mean well

QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Great news, DePlod! To reiterate what others have said, There is no bad place for kids in the park; baseball strives to be fan-friendly, and the visiting fans don't travel as much as they do in England, so the possibilities for aggro are much fewer. I'm not entirely certain, but I'm reasonably certain that, for a weekend game at least, someone from here will be tailgating pre-game. Yhat's a lot of fun, and you should do it if at all possible. My own humble suggestion for an Italian Beef sandwich (which you must have when in Chicago) is Carm's in Hillside. Since I've been away from Chicago for a while, one of the denizens of the western suburbs would be able to help you with directions -- all I can remember is that it's on Wolf Road and it's very tasty. As far as your drive east is concerned: the trip through Ohio is motononous, so try to break it up however possible. I've made that drive many times, and I cannot stand Ohio. So basically you're telling him that he better hit up Cedar Point or King's Island?

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) I'm thinking Tufano's for Italian or Gibson's for meat. um...he did say 'fast food style' But those are nice places sure. Actually I was just at Gibsons for the first time last month for a bachelor party. WOW...excellent food, but my wallet was crying the next day. :banghead

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Pizza joint...? Family vacation out to dinner and you want to send them to a pizza joint... Well they have to have pizza at least one time while they are in Chicago. But if I were to recommend a 'fast food' style place to eat with his family possibly Ed Debevic's or ESPN Zone. Maybe even the rainforest cafe :puke ?

Not that you have THAT many questions or anything!?!? Well lets see... Unlike the football stadiums in the UK there is no real family un-friendly places to sit at a baseball game. The vast majority of the people are pretty respectful and don't yell obscenities constantly (not to say that their aren't a few bad apples). You will see kids scattered all around the park, so no worries there. Good seats are going to be harder to come by, so you're probably going to have to buy second hand, as opposed to going directly to the White Sox. You can either check on here, as I'm sure some of us will have some extra tickets to some games. (me included) Let us know what dates you're going and someone I'm sure can accommodate Or you can go on www.stubhub.com to see what is available. Beer is sold at the stadium so to you. I'm at work so I'll write part two to you're questions later. And I'm figuring some of the other fine folks here at soxtalk will be more than willing to point you in the right direction!

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) But for 20% of Americans (surveyed) to believe the right to own a pet is a right established within our constitution is pathetic. Exactly, I mean I thought it was common sense that the right to own a pet was added as an Amendment to the constitution a few years back!

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) I am assuming that most of these are one year contracts. Did they list the how long the contracts are for anywhere? From above:

Thomas takes high road in response to Williams
Chisoxrd5 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I honestly can't see why any of you are so personally offended by this. Take a step back. Much like that olympic speed skating debauchary both of these two could have taken the high road, but they didn't. I side with most of what KW said but he got too personal for my liking. Oh well...whats done is done. But the sooner obsessed fan message boards stop talking about it, the sooner it will be forgotten. -
A picture of Kenny Williams unveiling a stature of Frank Thomas in a skirt!! Yes I'm in a snarky mood today

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) How dare you point that out! How dare he try and spell a word like wretched! Wasn't it actually .212 or .219? -
He had blurred vision from the dollar signs floating around in his head. Another example of why I hate people.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) This needs to stop NOW. Yeah no kidding. Professionalism and Ethics are two words that come to mind.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) I'd LOVE to see Kenny try to pull some s***... Love, love, love to... Frank could, and I pray would, bury Kenny's ass with scandle. Kenny's got some major skeletons in his closet. This has entered 'creepy and stupid' territory. If these two are going to get personal with each other they should do it on their own time, there is no need to get the White Sox organization involved in this petty dispute. The White Sox have been doing everything right up to this point and now this s*** has to take over. :headshake Well I guess the only positive is it takes the focus off of Ozzie and the players.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) I got another question. I wouldn't mind going to this, but I'm only 20. Do you have to be 21 to go? No not at all. They don't card you to get into the patio party. You just 'hypothetically' wouldn't be able to drink.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) I think I am going to totally shock some people, but I will applaude him. He was the face of this franchise for 16 years, for better or for worse. He put up some incredible numbers at a time where not everyone was juiced up, and everyone knows that all of his numbers are for real. How many other of the leading hitters over this time can you really say this about? Who exactly are you going to shock? Are you a closet Frank hater that I was unawares of? Frankly, I can't believe this is even a discussion. As White Sox FANS this isn't our disagreement. You cheer because of what good he brought to the Sox. He never turned his back on the fans. While we didn't win a championship while he was a dominant force, he kept us afloat during the 90's. He laid the foundation for this team to be able to win it all last year. As you said, someone who is the face of the organization for 15 years is not to be booed because he was overly sentimental and a tad bit whiny. His production is what you are cheering for.
-
Hmm..I opened this thread thinking there was gonna be some decent discussion, and what do I find? A pissing party!! Yippie! I'll cheer for Frank his first AB, then probably treat him like any other player from then on out. As fans, we were not disrepected, and I never had to 'cover for him'. He was a great player in his hay-day and there is no reason for the fans to boo him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Thats what I was saying before, golfers play until they are 70 Exactly...plus if you were dominant in your sport (which is what this question's scenario was) then you can set you're own schedule. Play the majors and all the big dollar tourneys. You get to travel around the world, and I'm sure you and I are on the same page when it comes to wives/gf's of golfers/tennis players.
