  1. I am frequently surprised with the high valuations some forum members put on players from competing teams. Those same posters frequently see our own players as hardly worth anything in trade value. In the old days fans wanted to trade 3 or 4 garbage players for the other team's star player.
  2. Heyward would have better filled that role and was basically free.
  3. The thought was that Jose would be a good role model for the Moncada, Robert, and Eloy's of the team. We might find that motivation is best left to the manager and coaches.
  4. In my view JR has spent adequate money over the years to produce many good seasons. The FO which includes JR has spent the money in foolish ways is the problem. The contracts to Leury and Kelly are recent examples of dumb money being spent. A billionaire hobbyist is a better owner type to have in today's baseball environment than an ownership group. However, plenty of teams have done well by running a well-managed front office. In all probability...JR has had too much hands on with the day-to-day player decisions.
  5. I doubt that any of us have any idea who they are targeting.
  6. Something worth considering since we are all disappointed that a deal wasn't accomplished at the meetings...most of the players we were hopeful of signing are still available. All this talk of signing leftover players is premature IMO.
  7. Kelly for Madrigal would be the way to go.
  8. He forgot to remind us that sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make.
  9. I've been expecting Heyward for months now. Almost too obvious at virtually zero cost.
  10. I understand that most posters feel as you do. Just saying that the meetings are still going on. Let's see what happens before we get the rope for the lynching.
  11. I get that many of the posters don't trust the FO to get the needed help, but it seems reasonable to wait until the next week or two before going off the deep end. We simply don't know what if anything might be in the works. The WS are as closed mouthed as a sports team can get and always have been.
  12. Yep...the new coaching staff if the biggest and most important move we can make. The whole team needs a fresh start. Shake off the malaise.
  13. To me not missing out on TLR was the biggest failure of the rebuild era.
  14. If only you knew if Judge would do that for us. Ya just never knows, but if you take a shot at the silly money guys and miss...you are cooked for the next decade.
  15. There are 24 owners who are cheaper than JR. For the most part we agree on the rest. I'm sure glad we won't be paying Harper this coming year, however.
  16. You are obviously one of our more astute posters.
  17. Might just as well save the prospects and sign Judge.
  18. The best move RH could make this offseason was this overhaul of the team management and coaches. Particularly interested if we can get Moncada and Robert focused. Baseball players need to be involved and thinking ahead of the play or at bat.
  19. I agree with you that JR will "hit it hard" this off season. I'm not one to like these mega contracts but rather sign 2 or 3 players for that same money that the one guy sucks up. Spread the risk a bit. Mostly I hate all the JR is cheap chatter that creeps into each and every topic. Max Kepler, Madrigal, Bellinger, Clevenger, and Q would make a nice offseason IMO. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled with Judge, but he scares me a lot.
  20. Well said as usual.
  21. Yep...sign me up for a Kepler trade.
  22. I disagree...but we shall see.
  23. Some trades are based on salary relief more than return.
  24. Sheets has value to us as a part time 1st, DH, PH, and OF when needed. Probably just as valuable to us as anyone else.
