Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)
I agree with you. Hard to do but not throw the baby out with the bath water.

5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
Back in 1984 a manager had a set number of rules and those rules were usually enforced by sitting a player who broke them. Kangaroo court would also hit him with a fine. Now we have a player break a rule and TL should tell the player he's disappointed and hopes it doesn't happen again. Give me a break. I didn't like the weakened lineup anymore than anyone else but TL was perfectly justified to nip it in the bud IMO. The club has to be more important than the player.

We won't win many games without scoring a run. This wasn't a painful loss because we were never in it. More concerned about Gio pitching like a good pitcher lately rather than an ace. Of course, the injury to Robert is way more important than this one game. We need Engel back NOW. Also, I get where TL was coming from with the Mercedes benching but our lineup is pathetic without him. From now on Mercedes...please get to work on time.

Gio better go sit next to Katz. Has been lucky so far but better figure something out fast.

He looked OK in ST and has a great arm.

If Jose sits we need Vaughn at first. Yermin would scare me to death. I would actually not mind a Mercedes start at catcher occasionally. Vaughn has actually looked good over at first the few times it's happened.

Eaton needs a rest. No problem with this substitution.

Good to see you've come around.

Tony is one of those managers who wants all his players feeling to be part of the team and ready when called on. Probably a smart long view but not popular with the fan who want the starters in at all times.

Excellent post. Not what many here want to hear...but true.

Playoff odds
It has gotten to where it doesn't matter who is the starter...we should win that game.

That's a Winner, Winner Pasta Dinner Sox Win
I think this is correct so long as they keep it up. May will be a key month what with playing lots of inter-division matchups. Also, anxious to get Engel back. He fits this team very well and Eaton needs some off time. Adam's hamstring must have been a beauty to have him out of action this long.

Rodon will sure be disappointed.

That play behind second by Anderson was another from another world as well.

The TLR Manager Thread
My point was simply that I'm surprised that Cairo & Katz don't seem to get much flack from this forum while many people think TL has forgotten what a baseball looks like. There is no reason to have a bench coach if not to whisper in the manager's ear of situations requiring his attention. I am sure Katz is watching every pitch with knowledgeable eyes. If they were warning TL of this impending doom...shame on TL. If not...they share some of the blame.
