Should’ve challenged. Still a fucking awesome manager.

All-time Soxtalk Whipping Boy
I loved DeWayne Wise. He played with so much heart. I hope the Sox bring him back for anniversaries of The Catch.

****! I had tickets to tonight’s game and made other plans after reading here the game was postponed. Went on this site after I got home and was confused AF. Missed a 7-6 thriller too...I’m so pissed!

TLR & Mercedes
La Russa and Mercedes are buddies. Yermin said a few weeks ago that they hang together all the time. Before that, Tony would credit runs to Yermin being a great 2-strike hitter while he was struggling. Tony and Yermin have the coolest handshake on the team that became a meme the other night. One day, years down the road, La Russa and Mercedes will be co-hosts of the Sox postgame show with Chuck.

2021 NHL Thread
Growing up, there was a local Chicago coach, Chico Adrahtas, who everyone knew was a creep. He had been kicked out of his assistant's job after 1 year at Minnesota long ago. He was rumored to invite kids over for sleepovers and everyone was warned to stay away from him. Yet organizations like the Chicago Mission would shield him, give him jobs, and promote him on their website. You would see him, the Mission owner, and the Mission president together all the time. The organization has had loose ties with the Blackhawks for awhile. The Chico Adrahtas story got blown up by the Athletic last year, but it was an open secret to many families around the Chicago youth hockey scene in the 2000s.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
I have a childhood friend who runs social media accounts where he gives his "wisdom" on how to treat psoriasis. On these accounts, he touts how you have to strengthen your immune system and warns against the dangers of vaccines. The scary part is he has 16k followers on IG eating this up. He wasn't even right-wing growing up either - him falling off the rocker into alt-right conspiracies is a recent development. His IG account is naturalpsoriasishealing for those morbidly curious.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
My father believes in all of this right-wing nutball shit. I had to drive to his home and drag him kicking and screaming (he actually cried) to both his shots or he was never getting it. He has several underlying conditions and multiple doctors told him he was 100% gone if he caught COVID. Yet he'd rather listen to conspiracy theorists than doctors. I have tried talking sense into him over and over and it just turns into a blow-up everytime. These people are delusional.

Very sorry to the Reinsdorf family on their loss.

GT 6/27 G2: Mariners @ SOX
Yermin and Tony are buddies. Yermin said a few weeks ago they’re around each other all the time. They would make a good tandem with Chuck on the postgame show when they hang it up.

Neither Ozzie nor Melton impressed with him going to the media. Garfien points out Lefty/Lefty splits (LH batting .297 against Keuchel).

wish larussa would do s%*# like this
Yes, this is a classic case of a topic where there’s going to be a disconnect between managers and fans. Fans love this stuff because it entertains them. But the actual effect it has on a team’s winning percentage and odds of achieving their goals is probably nil.

Color Guy: Who did it better?
Filled in for a few games circa 2005, perhaps earlier. Gordon’s stint reminded me of Donn Pall in that they’re both likable and fun personalities, but trainwrecks when it comes to broadcasting skills. If you catch an ‘05 re-run with Donn Pall, it’ll be a trainwreck you can’t move your eyes away from.
