  1. Lol at pretending there’s no additional context here.
  2. No angle exists where this isn’t an absolutely horrendous signing. Not the player angle, not the person angle, not the minority shareholder angle. This organization deserves all of the failure, negativity and mockery that comes its way, but the fans deserve so much better. This sucks.
  3. While ESPN sucks at most of what they do these days, it's sort of a bummer cuz I fully expect MLB to now pivot to some streaming service for these games, thus making them harder to see. No one hates baseball as much as MLB does.
  4. While there are a few that seem to doubt that changes are even taking place, I think the majority are just skeptical as to whether the changes will yield anything positive which, yeah, that's what we're all waiting to see.
  5. To flip them at the deadline for reliever prospects that will later be flipped for our boy Cash Considerations. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
  6. They’re a lot more interesting than the Sox at the moment.
  7. There’s also the other problem of why the hell did Joey Gallo get 500 ABs on a rebuilding team?
  8. I imagine they'll have him spell Busch at 1B too. I'd say if they don't end up needing more than ~400 plate appearances from him, it's probably fine. Not exactly an inspiring move, but I don't think Bregman was a great fit for them either.
  9. Sure, maybe. Or maybe he just wouldn’t accept a NRI with the Sox. Of all the Getz related things to have an issue with, the Flexen signing is an odd one.
  10. I agree it’s a little strange that he’s taking less money this offseason. Who knows, maybe he just really wanted to sign with a competitive team and they’re less desperate for his services than the bad teams. Here’s the way I look at it. Flexen ended up being surprisingly durable and important to the Sox last year. Sure he wasn’t necessarily good, but he was a stable guy in the rotation which gave them more flexibility with the other rotation spots. If it was an overpay, fine. Who cares? Ultimately they wanted him, they got him, and he served a purpose.
  11. Makes sense that the bad team has to make a better offer.
  12. Three things are true: 1) They are introducing new ideas to an organization that has notoriously been stubborn and behind the times. This is objectively a good thing. 2) Unless it yields tangible positive results, it’s just another organizational failure. 3) Time needs to pass before any of us know how this all shakes out. That’s all there is to it. Why is this even an argument?
  13. Question for you on the Fletcher situation. Would you prefer Getz: A) Acknowledge the trade was a mistake by burying Fletcher on the depth chart and playing the vets instead B) Give Fletcher more at bats/time (BTW I know the correct answer is “C) None of the above because both of those options suck” but that’s too easy)
  14. Eh, I get what you’re saying, but I think bs is bs regardless of the outcome.
  15. We’re typically cynical about anything the FO says or does, so I’m not sure why we suddenly took the bolded at face value. In other words, why interpret that as anything other than them blowing smoke up our asses?
  16. Sure, because that’s not something that can actually be proven. Likewise, there’s no evidence that they expected to be competitive either.
  17. For me, rebuilding is all about going for upside that aligns with your timeline of competing. Robert very much does not fit that timeline and therefore he’s of less use to the Sox than what they can get in return for him.
  18. Random New Yorkers wanna get it on celebrating the 20th anniversary.
  19. Getz is doing the minor league depth thing that always eluded Hahn, but has struggled to field a major league team. You know, if you combined Hahn and Getz, you might just have yourself a slightly below average GM.
  20. As long as it’s not at the expense of anyone interesting, I selfishly want Gallo to make the team so I can see him bat .105 with 25 HR and 27 RBI.
  21. Nothing like a 27 yr old going into his 5th season trying to prove himself.
  22. Hahn read the room too much, Getz doesn't read the room at all.
  23. Pretty wild that Rendon's 52 games played in the Covid year is almost his most games played in a season with the Angels.
  24. Alternatively, Dominic Fletcher is Dominic Fletcher, but the prospect they get back for Taylor at the deadline can be anything. He can even be a Dominic Fletcher.
