  1. I think the same could be said of any club/team that has had a success, or years of success, but then goes through the wilderness years after that. I am a Liverppol football (soccer) fan here in the Uk, and we went 30 years between winning the League and in those 30 years we always spoke of the past successes, and still do even though we are back winning things. Even when the club was nearly bankrupted by bad owners nostalgia helped fans survive the bad years and then made the currents successful time even sweater.
  2. Kyle Teel is realing looking like the top prospect he is supposed to be, and Sosa is beginning to put it together more consistently.
  3. Would it be a comedy or a horror book?
  4. Have you seen the White Sox pen pitch?
  5. Just a question from someone in the UK who loves baseball but doesn't have in depth knowledge, does bouncing a player between AAA and MLB actually hinder their development or help? It just seems that Baldwin and Elko have a short stint up in the MLB, admittedly not doing too well, and then get sent back to AAA for a few weeks before a repeat of the promotion and demotion. If they have nothing left to learn at AAA then wouldn't it be better to give them an extended stay in the MLB to give them time to adjust/or fail.
  6. I would think even the Pope would struggle with that miracle!
  7. Which team are you thinking will do that?
  8. Like much of the White Sox offense. And as for 'giving him a shot' one week is hardly a decent shot at things. Admittedly his form at Charlotte since returning hasn't been good but again that is a small sample. If they had given him a month and he was still producing those numbers at MLB level then fair enough, but if all they were going to do is give him a week they might as well have left him at AAA until later in the season.
  9. They might be present but he isn't showing them consistently this season or last.
  10. Do we think that AV will be back in a few weeks with the claim he has 'fixed' things while at Charlotte or is this demotion a long term thing?
  11. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day!
  12. Will this body last longer than Gage Workman?
  13. Thanks. Also I suppose they may save some of his wages for this season which will please Jerry.
  14. If Robert's trade value is virtually zero is it better just to keep him on the team until the end of the season?
  15. Poor choice of words for the new Holy Father, 'surely promoting the heaven out of it'! Or are you suggesting the White Sox need an exorcism to get the devil out of the ownership!
  16. We all know that struggling pitchers become Cy Young contenders when they pitch against the White Sox.
  17. I'm more interested in the claim about the macaque!
  18. I think there is a danger that the fanbase can over-hype and over expect with Elko. He may come up and struggle and need to adjust without the expectation that he will come up and continue where he was at AAA. If he is 'just' league average that will be an improvement on what we have currently got at 1B
  19. Also trading him won't get nearly what many on here want or expect.
  20. It is getting more and more like the film Major League, maybe if they got a cardboard cut out of Getz in the locker room it would inspire them!
  21. I would say 'unbelievable' but sadly with this organisation it is all too believable.
  22. It really depends on any new owner's motivation in buying an MLB team. If it is for sporting reasons and they want to bankroll a successful franchise then dramatic improvement could happen. If they are buying it as an 'investment' then moderate improvement will happen as they will want a more successful on field team but won't want to throw massive money at it as the spreadsheet is the bottom line.
  23. I would say the only way is up, but in his case probably not.
