  1. Our current 12-16 record against the Central would need to dramatically improve if the Sox have any chance 2nd half of the season. And the 1-4 and 1-5 record against Minnesota and Cleveland.
  2. We have just lost 2 out of 3 to Detroit at home so I'm not quite sure where your optimism about the schedule comes from, it might be on paper a good 2nd half schedule but on the field this Sox team are not performing anywhere near as good as on paper they should and have shown against Detroit and previously against Baltimore that they are just as capable of losing to poor teams as well as good teams. That said IF they can get a good run of wins before the ASB the Central Division is eminently winnable IF they can find any consistency after the break.
  3. Even more scary is the thought of Jerry replacing Hahn with TLR ?
  4. I'm not sure anyone would go for that trade, a bucket of popcorn may be a bit high an asking price.
  5. As are we all but there is a difference between older and old and past it, a one or two year extension if he was prepared to DH would be ok but he is unlikely to want to DH
  6. Maybe he is a defensive 'log jam' but he is one of the few Sox bats that has produced regularly (except in April), if he would DH next season I would definitely have him back. I would rather see him DH ing than some of the players TLR has trotted out at DH this season.
  7. Yes but how many of those DH/1B players are performing anywhere near as good as Abreu? Getting rid of one of the few productive bats on the grounds that other lesser players play in his position strikes me as odd. Vaughn may well produce better in time but at the moment Abreu is worth another year, because Eloy may well never find it and Grandal is a worse hitter, appears to be fading and more injury prone.
  8. That is just settling for failure 1 out of 3 just prolongs the mediocrity it wouldn't 'keep us in the race'
  9. Those stats are incorrect. For starters he was on the IL from 18th-28th June and since he got back he has 4 hits from 18 AB which is .222 and his stats for the last 15 games have him batting .245. And those figures are inflated by his 5 hits in the blow out game against Detroit when at least 2 were against position players. I really do hope Yoan figures it out soon but he is not looking that good since coming back from injury but that is hardly surprising as he has had no real consistency because of persistent injuries this season.
  10. He was on the IL from 18th-28th June and his last 15 games he has a BA of .245 so I am not sure where those stats you quote are from. But I do hope Yoan does figure it out because a healthy hitting player at 3B would be a massive help, if we could get a 2B who could hit as well then things might just be on the up!
  11. Consistency is the key. This team can beat good teams, they took 2 from 3 off Toronto before losing 3 of 4 to Baltimore. That has been the big issue all season, failing to put together good winning runs because the players are streaky and injuries have disrupted the consistency. But they did look good against SF with even Garcia and Harrison contributing offensively and Zavala has been a pleasant surprise but Moncada is still struggling.
  12. Either that or they are not ladies at all!
  13. So that's why TLR has kept Leury around! Fair play he got the all important RBI and has raised his batting average to the heights of .200. ?
  14. Because the current hitting coach is a joke so unless they get someone who improves players rather than making them worse, then fulfilling their potential will be unlikely.
  15. If this is the sh*t he talks when he is supposedly sober I would hate to imagine the sh*t he talks when drunk.
  16. Would you really get 'several' quality young players for Giolito or Hendricks? And equally would you trust the FO to actually get quality free agents to replace them or simply bargain basement options like they did with the 2b and RF this off season?
  17. Hahn probably couldn't even if he wanted to, hiring TLR was JR's decision and sacking him or not will be JR's decision, because TLR won't step down because he is too arrogant.
  18. The sad thing is only one of those is likely and it is not the one we all want!
  19. TLR was hired with the excuse that he would lead the Sox to post season success due to his 'experience and ability'. Last season they were awful post season and were out after 1 series, so TLR FAILED. This season they are tanking the regular season and will most likely fail to qualify for post season, so again TLR FAILED. All this with the biggest budget the Sox have had for years.
  20. Why just photoshop, just put his head on or under a tank.
  21. The worse thing is we got of lightly as the Orioles only had 2-10 RISP, whereas the Sox only managed 1 RISP and of course failed to convert that.
  22. Their record against other teams below .500 is 17-12 so you are right about some grounds for optimism but as for getting players healthy this season just seems cursed.
  23. I know 78 may be a 'worst case scenario' but with the current available players this team is a .500 team even with the remaining schedule looking favourable, after all they just lost 4-0 to the Orioles.
