  1. A couple of posts in this thread are scary to me about what the White Sox have become. Add me to the category of fan who thinks it's unwatchable. I'm even ambivalent on Stoney and Jason now. I used to like to listen to them, now I don't care what they are saying. ... If that Eloy story is true, that's incredible. If he didn't care about a teammate's home run. And that ball by Burger was crushed. Looks like the new manager has made no effect on chemistry. ... Don't shoot me for this, but maybe AJ or Ozzie woulda/shoulda been the answer. I'm thinking if either had been given true authority (maybe not in this day and age) they'd kick some life into the team. Oh well. Jerry isn't selling I guess. Hahn apparently has no idea what to do if the Sox have nothing on the farm to go with this brittle team. I guess pretty soon we're all going to just shut up and not watch at all rather than me now being satisfied with watching the game summary after the game on mlb.com. And the Sox should hear your story and treat you to a game in the best seats after you having a bad experience with smug employees to boot.
  2. Team motto: White Sox baseball: "We play for pay and don't work overtime." A second motto: "Show us the money and we'll give you an honest day's effort, no more, no less."
  3. Anybody with a baseball brain knew the bullpen would break a lot of hearts this year. Just as the Sox hittters do not hit homers in a HR friendly park, the bullpen is a tranwreck once the starter is removed in the fifth or sixth. The Sox major holes have them resembling an horrificly bad team.
  4. I prefer Beni-ball more than lift and pull BUT if all of baseball is doing lift and pull, not so sure Beni's 10 homers a year will cut it. The Sox need new owners to address the signing of free agents. I think a sale and total housecleaning is in order, even though changing owners doesn't always matter. For instance the Royals new owner seems buffoonish just like the last guy.
  5. It might be time to change as fans. Just be happy we have a major league baseball team in our city to follow. I don't think anybody on this board has listed a viable scenario in which the team can get back on track as a contender for years to come. Not sure how wise it was to sign Beni for five years though some baseball experts like him a lot.
  6. I think Sox are gonna be down a long long time. Five years more of this and team will be totally irrelevant I would think. Mabe Colas and Robert will lead a rebirth. When a team has so many overall weaknesses (bullpen, defense, no ability to lift and pull) it makes it hard to see Sox doing anything for years to come. ... I think given a choice I'd rather have our current team have stellar defense and bullpen than what we have now with no defense and no pen. I wonder if anybody on this board is thoroughly OK with Sox baseball right now. I mean it could be worse. At least Chicago still has 2 teams and there's baseball on the south side. San Antonio and Portland would love to have a team. I do concede there's a chance that when the weather gets warm the Sox hitters could erupt for 4-5 weeks at a time and we could win a lotta games at home with hitting alone.
  7. Eloy cannot stay healthy. I'm convinced. He's a complete bust. ... Scary though is Timmy. Starting to get hurt ... a lot. Sox injury situation is so sad. Just two weeks in and so many injuries.
  8. As much as I hate modern baseball, the Sox better start lifting and pulling in these home games. They got bodies to do it. The physical physique of guys would suggest a ton of HRs at GRate Field.
  9. I will read this thread tonight. As of now after watching the highlights, LOL at the Sox defense. Poor Sheets out on an island in RF falling down and Vaughn doing about what one would expect at 1B. I can't imagine the Sox drawing more than 18,000 fans a night this season. Miserable rebuild continues. The baseball gods obviously didn't approve of the tank/rebuild attempt. That said, Sosa baby!
  10. That's what .500 teams do. On to the next game.
  11. Odds are not good the Sox avoid the quick walkoff.
  12. Such a bad at bat. He'd have been out by a lot. Awful.
  13. Oscar mania. Somebody on this board predicted Lopez would be a good closer. I think he will.
  14. How come hitters like Sheets don't try to make contact with two strikes. I knew he was gonna eventually strike out on a fastball. Cut your swing speed and put the ball in play. Or don't and strike out.
  15. That was a big game. Robert should have played. To get shut out in a rubber game seems king of pathetic to me. Like Sox were OK with getting one of three on the road. This team could go either way. Right now I sense .500 ceiling again, likely a little below, kind of like the team's current record. No chance this is a contender tho. Kinda sad cause Sox have had contenders before.
  16. Glad the Sox bats have been alive. I'm really glad Colas is a regular starter. Also Vaughn and Sheets appear to have a clue, knock on wood.
  17. I don't even miss Eloy anymore. Out of sight again I've given up on him. (Unsolicited commentary by me). -- Timmy is one, good baseball player.
  18. Good start to that inning and love Oscar's hustle in stealing second but some rotten at bats that half inning especially Grandal. My gosh he has been a lousy hitter since joining the Sox.
  19. Mock TWTW all we want. Sox early this season look like the recent teams of the rebuild. Virtually no WTW. Or maybe Fathom is right. Team has very little talent.
  20. No one in power u mean. This fan has always wanted him back although I do enjoy him in his current role. He's still around giving his opinions.
  21. You'd have to check the archives to read my take on that. I've grown smarter thru the years to know what topics to not re-live and opinionate on here.
  22. Ozzie's ship has sailed for reasons we've all written a million times before. I just wish all Soxtalkers would admit my assertion about Ozzie: He is passionate about winning (only exception the Sunday lineup thing) and he truly truly loved every minute playing for the White Sox and loves the White Sox.
  23. Sox can't even get hot with the jolt of a new manager. Teams, even bad ones, often take off for 10 days or so under new direction. Yet Sox so far this year are .500ish like last year. Lynn's pitching line today is one of the ugliest a starter can have. Can u imagine making that kind of money and having a line like that? Wow.
  24. If he really lost 25 pounds then I do commend him. With all the money invested in baseball, you'd think the Sox or Eloy himself would spend some time with THE BEST trainers in sports to figure this out. Is there any hope for a guy that big n tall to avoid these type injuries? If there is ... pay the expert and get him expert advice/training. From.The.Best. Hopefully the Sox have done this.
  25. I like all the base hits I saw in the highlights of the game at mlb.com. Maybe we've learned from the Astros, who go with the pitch a lot and smoke regular hits, not just homers. Good to see Robert's batting average and Beni doing OK. Sox lineup 'seems' to be decent even without Eloy. But our pitching and defense problems prolly will mean a ceiling of about .500 again. I see our starting pitching as being average to above average and the bullpen blah to a failure cept for Lopez. I love today's win though.
