GT 4/27: Best Team in Baseball vs. 4th in the AL Central - 6:10 CT
I feel sorry for Yoan with the back issue. Obviously as many times as these players swing a bat and check their swings, etc., I truly am befuddled how more players don't have severe back issues. Also bending for grounder after grounder, same thing. As far as this series, the boo birds will be out if the Sox play badly again. Finally I'm in a bad mood after listening to that Sox fan rant on Twitter. It makes me think of the tank/rebuild and all the misery that folowed from the ridiculous tank/rebuild. Everybody responsible for this roster MUST be fired and soon. Of course the Sox won't want to pay guys for not working and would have to spend a lot of money hiring a new GM and scouts, etc., so they won't do anything. Play ball.

Are the 2023 White Sox the worst Sox team you've ever seen?
I do think it's the worst team I've ever seen because it is so overmatched. It's almost as if the team was built to lose every game because of the way it does not fit the modern game. On paper the starting pitching 'might' have been MLB top quality. However even if all the starters excelled, that'd only carry us to the sixth inning in modern baseball. Hence the bullpen being incapable of covering 3-4 innings. Exacerbating the problem is the starters have stunk for the most part, have not excelled for five inns. Finally the hitting. Relies too much on unproven guys who appear grossly overrated. What you get is a team of homegrown stiffs mixed in with some over the hill guys like Elvis and other guys who do not belong in MLB (our reserve infielders and backup catcher). Not sure what to think of Beni, definitely MLB caliber offensively and defensively but again not built offensively for the modern game. So yes it is the worst team imaginable, almost as if they did it to us on purpose. (On a personal level for the first time ever the Sox don't have a player I truly care about as a fan. I've always had my faves. Paulie, Buehrle, Frank, Jose, Dye various pitchers, Ozzie, Ralph Garr, Durham. I have zero faves on this team though Burger is probably closest for me.

I don't think you guys understand you don't treat a well respected veteran (who cares about winning) like you did Jose and not have repercussions. Only way to nullify the shock/ill will woulda been to add some superstar free agent. The Sox didn't and were left with Vaughn and Sheets bat to replace Jose, maybe Burger too.

No offense to some of you who underrated my fave Jose A, but do the White Sox miss Jose Abreu? Of course they do. You take a TOTAL PROFESSIONAL off the team and this is 'partly' the result when the replacements do NOT have the respect of an Abreu. Some people can't go past the stats. Jose was so fricking underrated. His absence left a HUGE hole in many ways. Of course the Sox front office also thought they could do better, lol. If u are gonna let an Abreu walk, make SOME SORT OF SPLASH in the offseason. Our big splash was hiring Pedro. Big deal.

Would it cost much to dump Pedro? Oz would fill in the rest of the season for cheap. Or really make it fun and hire AJP just as interim the rest of the year. Sox have to do something "fun."

First trade. Eloy to the Royals for some of their young minor league pitching stars plus Chicagoans Massey and Lopez to become our new Leurys. The current Leurys stink. Eloy still has a name. Trade him now,

It's pretty obvious Pedro was a bad hire. Sox should have been in no hurry to hire a fricking manager. Team made no roster changes in the offseason. Geez ... White Sox, Hire the right guy someday. Bring in a consultant for gosh sakes (can't believe I said that).

Strike outs are sooo boring. I've noticed Sox hitters whiff way too much. Not fun to watch.

I don't study the rankings but the Sox starting rotation has to be one of the worst in baseball, right? To go with a bullpen that arguably is the worst in baseball. The offense also is miserable. Can you imagine paying face value for tix and parking and concessions for a Sox home game after this month of April? Re the upcoming firesale: Will be interesting to see if our "prospects" truly are worth as much as we figured during the tank/rebuild. Sheets, Vaughn, Eloy, Moncada? My guess is only Robert and Timmy are worth much to MLB teams. Our pitching prospects? I dunno man.

4/25- White Sox at Blue Jays, 6:07
Hmmm, 10 Ks for the Sox, one BB. Four hits. Awful starting pitching by Clevinger. I'm really not trying to be hyperbolic, but this team looks like one of the worst in Sox history. Definitely looks like a AAA team rather than big league. How could baseball lifers running our fave team think this roster could win more than 50 games in today's era. Everything about this team screams 'L' on a given night. The new schedule means Sox can't go .500 in a zillion games v. the Central. Gosh help us. This team is going to be booed almost every home game. Ugly ball coming.

Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 CT
I wonder if Jerry even watches the games. He used to love baseball. This brand of ball has to sicken him. I mean the Sox don't hit the long ball so not a lot of blowout wins are possible for Chi. Our bullpen is so bad it's nothing but heartache after the sixth inning. Normally Sox strike out way more than they walk and often there's a blunder defensively that causes upchucking. So my point is Jerry can't be enjoying watching this and being out of contention in April. Sadly the Pedro hire looks like another bad hire. He seems like a nice guy but the losses are gonna pile up for him. ...

Elvis should be the first to dump. Yes he should. No bat. No pop in his bat at all. He's done baby.

So the Sox haven't come close to a victory since blowing Game One vs. Tampa. That's so White Sox. We already can point to a moment everybody gave up basically? This franchise I hate to say needs Ricky Renteria back. It's time to right that unfair firing and get the gods of baseball back on our side. Unacceptable. We're close to needing some firings again.

4/23/23 Sox @ Rays 12:40 Pedro's Boys Don't Get Swept Gamerthread
I told everybody KC fans were happy to see Beni go. Negative reax so I shut up. He is what he is. Would be an acceptable piece on great team. Zero power, gets on base which has some value, good defender. Will hit about 25 home runs total thru his five-year deal with the Sox if he's fortunate.

So the Sox as we all knew they would just rolled over and died after blowing the first game of the series cause of their horsebleep bullpen. Wow. Pedro is officially just another manager, isn't gonna be getting this flawed roster to 'overachieve.' All I can say is I hope fans who attend home games get great deals on the secondary market this season. Paying real prices for this team, wow, you must have a lot of disposable income.

I hate being such a negative fan. It sucks. My problem is I need to stop watching the sport I've grown to hate for so many reasons. If I can't enjoy the games I need to divorce myself from new baseball. My disdain started with the tanking which I figured wouldn't work and didn't. I need to work on being more positive or finally leave the game for good. Sorry some of us are so down.

I'm shocked any pitcher would draw a massive contract nowadays. As good as Cease is, you assume he's gonna pitch five, six innings. Some games like all starters he only goes 4 or 5. Remember the days a 4 inning start was a total anomaly? My point is, four, five, six innings? Yawn. I have nothing against Cease but if somebody wants to sign him 8 years, 40 mill a year or something, go ahead. I wouldn't pay any pitcher a huge salary until the role of pitcher gets figured out in the future. ... My guess is we are still trainwrecking toward all pitchers going 2 innings max. The good to great ones will allow 0 runs in 2 inns and strike out 5 or 6.

What a boring, long game. I bet the Sox announcers said the Sox lost a thriller. Sox hitters too many Ks too few walks and homers. The last pitcher was the one who failed again. Cease goes 100 pitches, five innings. Sox I've said it before are ill equipped for the modern game. Somebody posted on here recently the Sox are going to lose a gazillion close games. Only wins they'll have are a few blowouts here and there on nights the offense is blazing.- Sox @ Rays: 540CT - Kopech vs. Faucher: The Turnaround Starts Now
Or ... Tampa, which is off to a magical start, was due for a stinker, tried to give an easy one to the Sox with some miserable at bats in the sixth, seventh and eighth, then woke up in the ninth, doing just enuf to beat a bad team. Sorry to be a d--k but I don't like the "team has a lot of fight in it" statement when the Rays put the Sox away with one good inning late. They won a game they shoulda lost pretty much cause those are our White Sox, a very bad ballclub.- Rebuild Time
Fair enuf. I think you and I coulda found a second baseman if they woulda let us. Easiest spot in the lineup to fill in MLB.- Sox @ Rays: 540CT - Kopech vs. Faucher: The Turnaround Starts Now
Or they could win the next two, lose the next two or go 1-1. Kidding. Just had to end with a little joke after that weird ending. Can u imagine being a media type interviewing Pedro and Lopez after this one? Ouch.- Sox @ Rays: 540CT - Kopech vs. Faucher: The Turnaround Starts Now
I listened to the Rays announcers the last four innings. Wasn't in the mood for Gordo's weird accent and whatever Jason was saying tonight. Not too bad a crew with the Rays. They weren't homers, praised the Sox a bit. They were OK. Lopez was sure tossing meat up there. Wowsie. - White Sox at Rays, 4/22/23, 3:05 pm, Fox TV.
