  1. OMG. Eloy is in RF. Comical at best; please stay healthy. Over/under on Eloy mishaps: 2 or 3.
  2. Elvis is done unfortunately. OK, trade the Royals some lousy Class A pitcher or outfielder for either Mike Massey or Nicky Lopez. Might as well let a local guy play 2B during the rebuild/reload that's coming.
  3. Tiny crowd. Do the fans need a ticket for Game Two or can they stay? Seriously will there be 1,000 fans in there for Game Two? They should be nice and let the patrons from Game One remain. I would never have thought our Sox would be this bad. Wowsie.
  4. Managers are at the mercy of the gm more than ever before. Houdini could not magically cover the last four innings of games with this pen.
  5. This actually could be true. We'll find out. We have no other choice.
  6. I feel like we've become the Orioles during that long stretch of years where they knew after two weeks they were out of it. I'd say the Royals, but our players are more well known than KC's. Most managers don't apply 'discipline' nowadays. Players won't stand for it. Pedro is just another guy but I'm willing to give him a chance. He has to be scared to death though knowing there's a great chance they can lose every time they take the field cause of what will happen in the last four innings with this pen. Yikes.
  7. I'd never blame Pedro for this. Like many have said, no manager could ever win squat with this bullpen. I think the fair thing to do is feel sorry for Pedro and support him cause cmon there's nobody who could win with this roster coupled with either brittle players or an awful training staff (injuries). This team is put together so badly maybe even Ozzie and AJ wouldn't want this job lol. Why would you want to manage this roster? Destined to fail. So hail to Pedro for trying.
  8. Agreed, but it seems to me the Sox did not have that mentality prior to the tank/rebuild years which have morphed into this pathetic brand of baseball. My fear is this current situation which you describe well may continue for a long, long time. It's hard to envision a contender ever coming out of this core. Maybe if some of these still-young hitters turn into healthy phenoms.
  9. Good post. There's just no hope right now. It's just another poorly constructed, bad baseball team with way too many holes to compete. There's no hope for this bullpen, none and no hope for the team defense. That leaves hitting. Hitting is the only area that might win the Sox a series now and then. I love Burger but he's about as bad as they come at the MLB level on defense.
  10. Read about the violence in Chicago the past two nights all over Twitter. Sun Times and Trib had very little on the mobs attacking cars by Millennial Park. Any suggestions on where I should stay if I am coming in for 4 nights in June: Thursday thru Sunday on vacation? City or suburbia? Ballgame, zoo, museums, pizza, comedy show on agenda meeting people there.
  11. Burger, Vaughn, Colas. Credit where it's due. Now that's exciting win. People who were there will return. Time to win a series and hopefully Burger will stay hitterish all year at GRate. It's easy to praise when Sox win but Burger does 'look' like a ballplayer who is into it. I was totally against drafting him. Hope I'm wrong. Iove his stroke sometimes.
  12. A couple of posts in this thread are scary to me about what the White Sox have become. Add me to the category of fan who thinks it's unwatchable. I'm even ambivalent on Stoney and Jason now. I used to like to listen to them, now I don't care what they are saying. ... If that Eloy story is true, that's incredible. If he didn't care about a teammate's home run. And that ball by Burger was crushed. Looks like the new manager has made no effect on chemistry. ... Don't shoot me for this, but maybe AJ or Ozzie woulda/shoulda been the answer. I'm thinking if either had been given true authority (maybe not in this day and age) they'd kick some life into the team. Oh well. Jerry isn't selling I guess. Hahn apparently has no idea what to do if the Sox have nothing on the farm to go with this brittle team. I guess pretty soon we're all going to just shut up and not watch at all rather than me now being satisfied with watching the game summary after the game on mlb.com. And the Sox should hear your story and treat you to a game in the best seats after you having a bad experience with smug employees to boot.
  13. Team motto: White Sox baseball: "We play for pay and don't work overtime." A second motto: "Show us the money and we'll give you an honest day's effort, no more, no less."
  14. Anybody with a baseball brain knew the bullpen would break a lot of hearts this year. Just as the Sox hittters do not hit homers in a HR friendly park, the bullpen is a tranwreck once the starter is removed in the fifth or sixth. The Sox major holes have them resembling an horrificly bad team.
  15. I prefer Beni-ball more than lift and pull BUT if all of baseball is doing lift and pull, not so sure Beni's 10 homers a year will cut it. The Sox need new owners to address the signing of free agents. I think a sale and total housecleaning is in order, even though changing owners doesn't always matter. For instance the Royals new owner seems buffoonish just like the last guy.
  16. It might be time to change as fans. Just be happy we have a major league baseball team in our city to follow. I don't think anybody on this board has listed a viable scenario in which the team can get back on track as a contender for years to come. Not sure how wise it was to sign Beni for five years though some baseball experts like him a lot.
  17. I think Sox are gonna be down a long long time. Five years more of this and team will be totally irrelevant I would think. Mabe Colas and Robert will lead a rebirth. When a team has so many overall weaknesses (bullpen, defense, no ability to lift and pull) it makes it hard to see Sox doing anything for years to come. ... I think given a choice I'd rather have our current team have stellar defense and bullpen than what we have now with no defense and no pen. I wonder if anybody on this board is thoroughly OK with Sox baseball right now. I mean it could be worse. At least Chicago still has 2 teams and there's baseball on the south side. San Antonio and Portland would love to have a team. I do concede there's a chance that when the weather gets warm the Sox hitters could erupt for 4-5 weeks at a time and we could win a lotta games at home with hitting alone.
  18. Eloy cannot stay healthy. I'm convinced. He's a complete bust. ... Scary though is Timmy. Starting to get hurt ... a lot. Sox injury situation is so sad. Just two weeks in and so many injuries.
  19. As much as I hate modern baseball, the Sox better start lifting and pulling in these home games. They got bodies to do it. The physical physique of guys would suggest a ton of HRs at GRate Field.
  20. I will read this thread tonight. As of now after watching the highlights, LOL at the Sox defense. Poor Sheets out on an island in RF falling down and Vaughn doing about what one would expect at 1B. I can't imagine the Sox drawing more than 18,000 fans a night this season. Miserable rebuild continues. The baseball gods obviously didn't approve of the tank/rebuild attempt. That said, Sosa baby!
  21. That's what .500 teams do. On to the next game.
  22. Odds are not good the Sox avoid the quick walkoff.
  23. Such a bad at bat. He'd have been out by a lot. Awful.
  24. Oscar mania. Somebody on this board predicted Lopez would be a good closer. I think he will.
  25. How come hitters like Sheets don't try to make contact with two strikes. I knew he was gonna eventually strike out on a fastball. Cut your swing speed and put the ball in play. Or don't and strike out.
