And so it begins!
Wouldn't that be neat if Pedro took the city by storm? Sox have a winning record in each of the first 3 months, then blaze to victory, run away in the crap Central then ride a strong, emerging starting rotation to the crown? -- defense concerns me; bullpen concerns me though. guys would have to step up. Moncada and Timmy and Elvis are capable of being vaccuums. 1B is a sieve though and the outfield potentially a disaster again.

Who are the 4 bench players for the Sox?
It's interesting how "some" folks who back playing Burger seemingly are not concerned about his defense and I had to listen to a bunch of fans complain about one of my all time fave's defense at 1B for years. It's crazy the double standard for certain guys. I can't really see Burger ever even being average on D. I do like his hitterishness though. He can sting the ball.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
Thing about Old Comiskey, maybe it's this way in the 'new' park as well ... the sound of bat hitting ball was so special. I remember going to see Luzinski's team and man he cracked some impressive homers. ... I also enjoyed Chet Lemon big time. I remember I got to meet him when he was with the Tigers and he was so nice. I asked him if he remembered a certain catch he made in vast CF of the old park. On the TV screen it was a blast in the gap and suddenly Lemon appears in the TV screen laying his body out fully to catch the ball. He said he did remember that catch. I copied his banging his mitt against his thigh in 12 inch softball when playing the outfield, lol. He also hit some rockets and liners where the unmistakeable sound of bat on ball echoed thru the old park. I also remember Gamble and Spencer and Soderholm getting such good wood on the ball. CRACK.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
Just watched part three. Loved it. Near the end, regarding the final game in Comiskey, they showed a fan patting the wall of the stadium facade as he left. Reminded me that I patted one of the pillars as I walked out with my brother at my last game that season. Like most all the fans on here who were alive then, I had the most fun as a kid and felt all the emotions of fans quoted in the 3 part series when I was in Comiskey. Thank u to the producer and all the folks who put this series together. Special stuff. And I just loved Ozzie Guillen's love of the Sox and all his comments in the 3 part series. Glad Ozzie agreed to be part of it. I'm assuming some former Sox greats must have declined. THANK U!

"Sell the Team...Jerry" Billboards...
G13 ... do you not feel that the modern era fan can't afford to go to games, at least a mom or dad can't afford to take 2 kids and get a good seat more than a couple times a season?

Sox unveil $5 Tuesday for select concession items
At least food prices won't keep people away on Tuesday's. 5 dollar beer in this day and age at a sporting event is almost like the old quarter beer night. If u are gonna go to one home game a week or month, Tuesday would be the day to go.

2023 AL Central Predictions
Sox starting pitchers look good on paper. Are they all healthy? Our bullpen looks blah to bad on paper. That spells doom folks. We win the first 5 1/2 innings, then lose a ton of games cause of the pen. Hope everybody stays healthy. But I pick Sox third or fourth. Only KC and the Tigers figure to be worse but Sox can't seem to beat anybody consistently in the Central.

Batting Order
I want me some Burger and Colas following Timmy, Eloy and Robert. Will Burger and Colas make team?

3/8 Sox vs Royals, 7:05PM CT, Bally Sports KC
If Sheets doesn't make the team, then trade him ASAP. The guy deserves a chance somewhere. Minors will not help him.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
Just watched it. Enjoyed part one. I like Rich King remember my first game and seeing all the colors, sights sounds and smells. Whoever took me to my first game, I guess it'd be my dad, I was amazed and hooked. My gramps was a Cub fan, only one in the fam, and he would take me to those day games at Wrigley and I gotta admit same deal. Field so close to the stands. Sights and sounds wow. I must confess I always liked Comiskey better. I think it was the exploding scoreboard and the food to go with the na nas. And of course going to Kansas U. and being in a frat I fought those Royals fans and stood up for my Sox and it made me a crazed Sox fan, one who never ever embraced the Royals. Going to a game at old Comiskey was truly like the movie, it was 'heaven.' Can't wait for parts II and III.

Jose Abreu Article Sun Times
We knew there just had to be internal problems with the Sox getting blown out in so many games and playing so poorly against teams they should want to own in the pathetic division they are in. They didn't compete much. Glad Jose got out. I know if the Sox don't fix this, many fans will ultimately bail as well. First time in a long time the Sox don't have a player I consider one of my 'favorites.' New manager is gonna have to make some of these guys care more. Sox need to get off to a good start and then keep winning series after that. But an 11-5 start is necessary with this bunch.

2023 Spring Training Thread
I'm surprised the leftfielder doesn't move over even more to right since the batter is going to pull no matter what. This seems like it will be effective. If hitters wouldn't go the oppo way before they are not going to do it now.

Long live the pitch clock
Gosh no. Greg observers certainly know I despise the shift. I do hate openers as well. Also I hate the two games within one. Starter goes five then the parade of relievers. And I hate the new hitting philosophy. HR or K for hitters, nothing else.

Long live the pitch clock
2:15 would be perfect. Alleged time for a college basketball game.

Long live the pitch clock
I might fall in love with baseball again. Me hates the shift and the adjusting of velcro gloves at the plate.

Barstool Baseball Presents: A Conversation With Chicago White Sox Shortstop Tim Anderson.
Good article, but I enter 2023 not feeling negative toward TA. He didn't say anything offensive IMO. He's a very good player. He needs to stay healthy, take more than a few walks and get that BA up to around .330 so he can be a perennial all-star. ... Also try to cut down the errors on simple plays. He makes spectacular plays often.

Barstool Baseball Presents: A Conversation With Chicago White Sox Shortstop Tim Anderson.
I watched it. I disagree he 'threatened' Chuck's access. I like Tim's demeanor. I LOVE his hitting. I feel like his defense is good not great. Good in that he makes some amazing plays. Not great cause he boots some easy ones, at least the games I watch. And he gets hurt too much. I mean not his fault but it sucks when he's out. I got nothing against TA speaking his mind. As far as this season ... I feel we all should let it play out. Let TA be TA and let's root for him as fans to hit .330 with a lotta BBs and make the routine play. Keep his concentration in the field and help us be a surprise team of baseball. We got a new manager and hopefully his enthusiasm will spark the club. Much different than an elderly Tony. PLAY BALL, cmon TA we got your back (unless u stink this year and cause problems).

Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil
Can a batter recover from a wrist fracture? Ptatc? ... I see no spot for Burger except DH. Isn't he a butcher at 3B? Forget 2B. 1B ... too many of 'em. Outifield? Nah. Catcher? Doubtful. Ugh. Trade him.

Jason Benetti & Steve Stone back - options picked up
His voice is kind of annoying. That can be worked on. I think he's ok. DJ on the radio isn't perfect either. I think Stoney gets an A-plus for his work. Benetti an A to A-minus. DJ: A B-minus or B. Gordo a C with potential to get to a B. Len: Not my cup of tea yet so a B- to C. For Caulfield, Royals announcers: Denny Mathews a B to A-minus. His sidekick Lefevre a B. Physioc a C (enunciates too much IMO). Jeff Montgomery: B. Stewart: Not my cup of tea but a B to B-.

Jason Benetti & Steve Stone back - options picked up
My take: Love Benetti. Totally love Stone. Hate Gordo's voice but rooting for him to get better. He's a fan fave as a player IMO.

Those were the days the security took unruly fans to the basement of the stadium for a talking to. Different era.

Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil
I guess what I'm trying to say is "for once I don't hate this move." I didn't want that Pirates guy. Elvis seems like a real player. Not saying he will be, though.

Last Comiskey Documentary...
My quickie memories. ... -- Was in a watermelon eating contest as a kid on the field outside the Sox dugout in conjunction with 4th of July twinbill. Activities took place in between games. I remember Ken Brett saying "don't choke on the seeds." -- Got to walk around the old park with friends with a banner on banner day. Again between games of a DH. -- My last game in the park was against Cleveland late in that final season. It was rainy and ugly out and we stayed til the 7th and it was fitting the first game I ever left early was my last. Patted one of those pillars, took a last look at the field and me and brother left satisfied emotionally. -- Saw some roof shots in person; will never forget the sound of bat on ball in that gem of an old park. Saw Eric Soderholm break up a no hitter in a 0-0 game and the full park going crazy. Other memories for sure. Like Fred Lynn whacking a home run knocking out Hammaker in the all star game. And Dick Allen hitting a moon shot homer to rc. And Sammy Sosa as a Sox throwing out a guy at third from RF with us having seats right there at third. Neat to see the rocket throw and tag vs. a Yankee. And a Tom Seaver gem when he was old. Went six or seven strong innings and fans went wild for him. Love old Comiskey.
