Excellent performance by Danks, Sergio and Bobby baby. I never thought we'd do anything but get swept today! Way to go, White Sox. And damn nice save for Jenks. p.s. Those guys who got picked off first should be fined. You've got to f***ing be kidding me. That old play where they twirl worked twice??? p.s.s. I can't believe the lack of confidence in Bobby on this board. One guy gets on base and it was meltdown city. Can we sweep?

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 06:09 AM) Did Mark's dog s*** on your lawn or something? Lousy defense at third base can cost you a lot of games.

QUOTE (Willy52 @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 03:10 AM) Cocky over sweeping the Indians? Put down the kool aid. What we need to hope for is a split. Twins are red hot at home (still) so we'll just lose a half game. Two losses and a twins win will be reminiscent of the East coast trip in September last year.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 04:58 AM) Gardenhire leading the Twins to their 6th division title without an MVP candidate and the second best closer of the last half decade. Just a tad more impressive than Mr. "I makes da f***ing lineup." My guess is if Gardy managed the Sox, he'd be ripped big time as well.

The Twins need to get it over with and just win the WS. If they faceplant again in the playoffs, it'll be the same scenario again next season. You are right. They will roll to the title again with Nathan and Morneau. The Sox will have to do some tinkering again before next season. If Teahen is our starting third baseman, that's enough to assure second place in itself.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) You dispute this? I won't go as far to say he's "killing" us. But he's not helping either. What exactly is wrong with Ozzie's lineups? the team has been hitting the s*** out of the ball. It's a miracle this team wasn't buried in May and that's partly because of Ozzie. You guys that hate Ozzie are going to have to put up with him another season. He's not going anywhere.

We simply have to sweep the Bosox and hope the Twins lose at home to the Rangers.
-
I just hope the Twins get it out of their system and finally win the WS this year. Then maybe they'll start to suck. You'd think one of these seasons they'd faceplant after sucking in the playoffs, but every year they are right in it, again. There's no way in hell we have a chance w/out sweeping that series in the Cell and that is highly unlikely. s***, if Minnie wins tomorrow and we lose two, we're gonna be crying in our beer on Sept. 4.

Time to skip Freddy in the rotation with all these days off.

Nope. Money and women are the answers to this question. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 04:01 AM) If Manny was the only original argument then I will actually agree with you and not complain. If Manny didn't sound like he wanted to play, then f*** him, don't put him in the lineup. My issue was with the Vizquel sac bunt in the 6th down 3. That was an awful decision Ozzie made, that could have had an effect on costing Sox the game. The Sox won despite that move. My main point was that managers still make bad moves in wins, and they still deserve to get second guessed, especially when every single game is that important. I will also say that if a manager puts a player in the right position and the player fails, then the manager should get no blame either. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 04:30 AM) That's the beauty of the block option. Please explain that bunt situation to me. I only saw it referenced earlier where somebody said Vizquel was bunting for a hit. I really want the 100 percent facts on this because it would be odd to me if Oz bunted down three. Seriously, was he bunting for a hit or not? Maybe some others can chime in as well. And did he eventually get the bunt down? What happened? The only argument I've been defending here is the Manny crap. I need the other situation depicted. A bunt down 3 in the sixth would obviously be the wrong move. I'f diffrent from Milkman. I seek all opinions and usually learn things on here about baseball if not daily, several times a week. I am not close minded like Milk may be.

1.) Reinsdorf. I'd sell the team and have all that money. 2.) Kotsay. Didn't you all say he has the most gorgeous wife on the team? 3.) Paulie. It'd be fun to hit all those home runs. -
Interesting points in last thread. I liked his mental makeup so I really hope he recovers nicely, but I still say in retrospect, I'd rather have Richard since the injury happened. Also last year didn't work out. We were out of it by the time he was healed and ready to pitch. On another note, I read a nice story today on Pryor pitching in an Independent League. I think it was in USA Today or somewhere. Good article. He's making one last effort to pitch. He hit 92. Sad story. Hope Strasbourg isn't a Mark Pryor story as well.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) I'm sure if the Raiders head coach goes for it on 4th and 25 on his own 30, fails and gives up a TD on the next play, but the Raiders still win the game, it was the correct move and Al Davis doesn't second guess him on it. "Just Win, Baby" Cmon. That is a pretty radical example. The argument here was Ozzie not playing Manny on a day arguably Manny didn't want to play anyway. Nobody trusts Passon at all on this for some reason. I may go overboard but on this I won't back down. I mean it used to be in sports if you won the f***ing game (and didn't do anything as dumb as your football example) people were happy and the manager was free of criticism that day. I can't believe some are to the point they b**** even though we won the game(s). How can you argue this manny not playing deal? He traveled all day, did not seem real enthused about playing when Oz talked to him, we won, then he was rested for the day game and we won again? And Oz gets zero credit. Maybe you'd be happier if Oz threw him under the bus and said, "I talked to Manny and you know what? I hated the look he gave me when I asked him if he wanted to play. I now understand why Joe Torre wanted to personally drive the guy to the airport to get him the hell out of Dodger Stadium."

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Dear Lord this is the worst idea of all-time. Why on Earth would we want a 32 year old with plummeting numbers who is unhealthy and costs $17 mill per for another 3 seasons? LET ALONE why would we want to trade one of the better young starters in baseball to obtain his services? Danks and Quentin for Bay is very bad trade. I still haven't given up on CQ. I still think he can rake at the plate. Danks is a frickin stud. That's a way overpay for Bay.

At this stage of the season they'd do what they did in KC ... a 6:10 p.m. twinbill. And come right back on Sunday.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) If a starter is getting shelled, then that could well be the right choice. Gavin was imploding in the 6th inning a couple starts ago, but Ozzie left him out there for a string of something like 6/7 consecutive guys reaching base. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) The biggest problem for the Sox right now is that Minnesota is pitching the best that they have all year right now. They haven't allowed more than 4 runs in any game in their last 10. Even Nick Blackburn just threw a shutout and they added two good relievers. It will be near impossible for the Sox to catch them if they continue to pitch well with a 4 game lead and a much easier schedule. Not to mention that Morneau might be back. So you've got to use the bullpen a lot and the original poster said he wished it wasn't used as much early on. As far as the Twins, I know if we had a four-game lead we wouldn't be feeling great by any means, but it does put us at the point there's no room for error. Does everybody agree once it hits six, we are gawn? Minnie is going to be in that enviable position that if they just win one in the 3 game series in Chicago, they remain in cruise control. Even if we won the first two of that series and started to get all excited, we've have to complete the sweep for anything significant to have occurred in the standings.
-
I've also seen a lot of guys scream that so and so shouldn't be in the game right now with a lefty up. A lot of guys have wanted our starters rescued in the fifth or sixth and start the bullpen parade way too early rather than demand six or 6 2/3 from our starters.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) Good, I would rather not have to play Boston. Save them for game 162 if we need to play it. What do you mean? We're still going to play 2 Saturday against Boston. And that will be a must win DH or at least a must-split DH. If we win one and Minnie wins one that would do us not a bit of good that day.
-
Not the phrase, "Just Win, Baby." That one says it all. If a manager has to take flak after any win, he has the right to laugh in that fan's face at the bar. He could throw a drink in the fan's face, but nowadays it'd be on youtube immediately.
-
Some people in the game threads beg for the lefty-righty stuff to start in the fifth inning. And they implode when the lower-tier pitchers enter a game and give up a walk or a hit. In a perfect world, our starters would go seven every night and set it up well for the eighth and ninth.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) Jesus Christ please go take an introductory class in logic and statistics before I have a meltdown. My class in Winning 101 was taught by Al Davis. "Just Win, Baby." If you win, the guy in charge is doin' something right that day and gets the last laugh on all second guessers.

Without a sweep of the Twins, which would change the math dramatically, we have to completely dominate the month. Totally dominate it. I guess we should be hoping we have it no worse than four when the Twins come in and at that point we simply have to sweep.
-
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) They are due. They cannot keep winning at this pace for another 28 days. I really believe that at the end of the month, the tightness of this race and emotions (good and bad), from the fans are going to escalate to an incredible degree. Watching our games with clentched fists at every at bat. Yelling at the TV because the Twins score is not poping up fast enough on ESPN' or MLB Network. Arguments on this board will take off to another degree between the ra-ra positive mindset cheerleaders, and the doomsday coffin fillers as the end approaches! Welcome to the pennant race! This is White Sox baseball. It's September! We're still in it, and it's a blast! I'd feel better if we weren't four out. I feel we are on life support cause if it reaches six at this stage, we're done. And a DH in Boston with the Twins playing at home? Scary.
