  1. Yeah, he deserves a medal for his work. He is gooooodddddd. he's good.
  2. Well that sucks. Hope he's OK. I thought he was a regular on the postgame show.
  3. Great post caufield. I respect your posts. My major beef is this is not an issue anywhere besides this message board. Regular fans think Ozzie is fine. We are 16 f***ing games over .500 and just swept Boston on the road and some people are wanting him fired NOW. It is totally insane and is a MESSAGE BOARD PHENOMENON. It just is. It's ridiculous. He is a good manager. As proof of this I'll ask "Where is Rongey?" Me thinks he realizes we all are insane, f***ing insane and has left.
  4. So after all these posts .... - You think Ozzie is a bad manager. - I think Ozzie is a great manager. They are opinions that will likely never change.
  5. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 02:18 AM) That's the funny part. You are expecting everyone to agree with you fully and if someone explains to you WHY you are simply incorrect, you take offense. Sorry, but you saying a win is automatically a well-managed game is simply 100% incorrect. Is that tame enough for you? I only take offense when somebody calls me a name like "uneducated" etc. That's not good. I don't expect everyone to agree with me fully. I totally respect those who get insanely mad when we bunt and give up an out. While I probably would rather not bunt NL style in the second inning on most occasions, I can understand Oz giving up an out in situations late in tie games, and some people have been mad at those bunts as well as those bunts early in games. I'm saying a win on the road is pretty f***ing impressive at Boston. I look at the big picture more than you do I guess. Winning 3 at Boston on a weekend the Twins won 3 vs. Texas in the big scheme of things was damn impressive and the manager is the one ultimately in charge. So kudos to Ozzie. Do you realize if Boston swept us, it woulda been OVA? We are on the precipice. If they sweep KC and we lose 3 to Detroit, it's also OVA.
  6. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 02:05 AM) Sorry I'm calling you that. But when you literally say that if we win it was automatically a well-managed game... you simply don't have any earthy idea what you are talking about. There's a screw loose SOMEWHERE... Take a valium. Drink a beer (not both together). Calm down, please. I accept your apology, then you come right back and say I don't know what I'm talking about and have a screw loose. In my responses to you, I have explained what I'm talking about. Dude, guys can disagree. You are not 100 percent right about this issue IMO even though you may think you are. Ozzie has a pretty darn good track record whether you believe it or not. He says some stupid s*** sometimes. He made a big mistake not re-signing Thome. Kotsay sucks and he's in love with him. Some might consider those fire-able offenses. Maybe they are fireable offenses. But I don't think his in-game decisions are nearly as bad as you do.
  7. Please. I watch as many games as possible. I watch the games. Believe me, I am not the only person in America who thinks Guillen is a good manager. Granted not many on this board share my opinion, but there are Guillen supporters in the great city of Chicago. Please don't call me uneducated. That is very offensive. I have an advanced degree as well as my college bachelor's degree. I also am educated in life in supporting my own way through college and postgraduate school. Please. ....
  8. QUOTE (joeynach @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) Well I hope its really just a 1 or 2 game thing. Hes a bit up there in age so I worry a bit. Yeah, I worry about back injuries as well. And obviously he's having a helluva season.
  9. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) Yeah, because we were lucky enough to play like absolute s*** and beat a team that did the same, Ozzie is a great manager for no actual reason and guys like me are stupid for wanting the guy fired when he clearly has no idea what he's doing? Yeah, that's "reality," huh? "Average" fans? You mean the kind that don't understand anything about baseball? Are you TRYING to make yourself look bad? With people like you, nothing that every goes wrong is Ozzie's fault, but everything that goes right is attributed to him even if he has nothing to do with it. Also, we're 16 games over barely in contention in an abysmal division. Hey, I love the fact we came back in the 9th, but the truth is we are HORRID with RISP and our manager is clueless in his in-game managing, it's just that simple. "Non-reality?" Giving the manager credit for everything but refusing to admit his incompetence on the most obvious of f***-ups? THAT'S "non-reality." To quote a specific film, "Nothing you just said comes close to forming a rational thought. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." My God, greg... what can I even say about you? Almost ALL your posts are sig worthy. You said in an earlier thread: "That means you are saying if Ozzie was being an unfit manager (which he is), they would fire him." How the f*** can you say for certain he is an "unfit manager." That's your opinion, fine. He has a WS title under his belt and other playoff appearances for one. For two, we are 16 over .500 with a mediocre team. Sir, I can guarantee you (even if you will disagree with me) that any manager we have you would be FURIOUS over decisions in losses by our manager. I guess we agree to disagree, but in any loss there are numerous decisions to second guess. I guess you think only Ozzie is guilty. I look at the big picture. He produces uh, wins. I kind of take offense to your last line. I am tempted to go off and start cussing but I will just calmly say that just because we disagree doesn't make me a buffoon and you a god. I would venture to say a majority of White Sox fans are satisfied with Guillen as manager. Ones that aren't probably don't like the s*** he's said in the press that have embarrassed the organization in the past. There I said something critical of Ozzie despite the fact you said I would never do that. I would suggest you chill on the personal attacks. I am not worthy of that last sentence you tagged on me, sir.
  10. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) This was a great win, but it is becoming increasingly clear that the season will come down to that series against Minnesota at home. And unless Jimmy Thome gets a 3 day migraine headache, there are gonna be some nasty posts here on Soxtalk. He waves a pretty mean stick still.
  11. I also hope he's Sox manager for another 10 years. As far as your second point, he doesn't drive me crazy, not at all.
  12. Ozzie haters can continue living in their Internet dream world of non reality. Do you think the average White Sox fan wants this guy fired? We just swept the f***ing Boston Red Sox and are 16 games over .500 with this mediocre team. The comeback in the ninth inning meant nothing to you? The original poster said he can't fire up the team? What do you call rallying to beat Boston on the road? The strange thing is you guys don't even admit that you would and will someday be crucifying our next manager. You'd be crucifying any manager after any White Sox loss because there are tons of things to second guess in any loss. Ozzie Guillen is a great manager and I'm glad he didn't give up on this team in May as Piniella did the Cubs. We're not going to win the division most likely -- Minnie is that good -- but Ozzie has had a good season again at the helm.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Very nice wins, but I couldn't bring myself to watch either 9th inning. I thought the ninth innings were rather fun to watch. They gawn; we win.
  14. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) That's f***ing pathetic. And again... where is Manny??? He's been spotted walking on water.
  15. Let's face it. Our only real hope is to sweep Minnie in Chicago. Minnesota is too damn good.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) Apparently a hell of a lot more than you. 7 quality AB, the likes have which have not been seen on the southside since Frank Thomas was in his prime....you are delusional. Almost every player has had a string of 7 AB that were as good or better than Manny's first seven at some point, but its Manny. Everything he does is the best. A journeyman reliever for Cleveland hung AJ a curveball because he was so scared Manny was on deck. Another hung a curve to an MVP candidate, a guy hitting over .400 his last 30 games and a guy hitting .350 the last 3 months, because he was scared. Manny was on deck. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) He's more valuable sitting. He could come up to pinch hit at any time. Beckett and the rest of the Red Sox know this, so the White Sox should have a field day as the threat of Manny batting is actually more prevalent when he's on the bench, because it could be at any time. Awesome posts by Richie Allen. Manny is new so he's the bomb. The unknown is always better than the known, you know. We need to put Manny on the on deck circle the entire game. The fear he will instill will mean another W.
  17. I don't think CQ is done yet.
  18. The chairman brought us a WS title. Not bad considering the ineptitude in this town concerning baseball championships.
  19. Exactly Kite. Drives me crazy. If Sergio had picked up 2 saves today they'd be saying it will be the thing that turns around our season. Bobby does it ... yawn.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 07:55 AM) I dunno... I guess I just don't get that, at all. I never get too high or too low unless a player is playing really bad for an extended amount of time or if he is playing really awesome for weeks at a time (Rios, Konerko, Beckham, Jackson, Floyd, etc.) and I don't even really post about routine everyday things in the winner threads. So right now, getting excited about Bobby kind of comes off like me being happy that he's not f***ing up. So I'm indifferent and I can pretty much see why nobody's saying anything after Bobby's hit so many valleys this year. Look, saving 2 games in one day is a big deal. AT BOSTON. If few people want to give him credit and nobody else, fine. The bullpen has been a mess. Putz and Thornton and Sergio all have blown games and sucked. Bobby was OUTSTANDING TODAY. So just take it for granted. Go ahead. Don't matter to me. Yeah, it's a routine everyday thing to get two saves in one day in Boston and in the second game get four outs. I don't know why it bothers me so. Hell, Bobby gets his 7 f***ing million dollars. He doesn't need my support. He gets to laugh all the way to the bank every time he gets a paycheck. Fans may hate his goatee and his excess 30 pounds. He gets the last laugh to the tune of 7 million dolares.
  21. This thread is about the bullpen! A couple cool people mentioned Jenks in the winner's thread. He got abused in the game threads again. What'd he do today. Put on one baserunner? I just can't believe Sox fans refuse to give credit to a guy when he helps the team win (and I never said ALL Sox fans; read the game thread).
  22. I can't believe intelligent White Sox fans as you all are just won't give this man your support and credit. He's not perfect. He's fat and has a bad goatee, but he's a big reason we swept Boston today. And no props.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 07:29 AM) Yay, Bobby Jenks hasn't spectacularly blown up since a little while ago! That's about all the enthusiasm I can muster right for him right now, when I look at him I don't see "the past 5 days" I see "2010." It's not 2 years ago, and I still feel uneasy when I see him come out, like another 3-run collapse is just another inning away. You guys slay me. You sometimes act like getting a f***ing save in Boston before a sellout is easy. He got two. No credit. Uh, Putz failed. That one game Sergio got lit up. Uh Thornton got abused on the road in that one stretch. Yet, Bobby. No credit. Amazing. And you guys just don't see it. It just slays me.
  24. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 4, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Manny's at-bats so far have been among the best a Sox hitter has had in years. Not since Hurt have we had a chance to watch a hitter mentally own a pitcher like Manny has. You just can't fool the guy. He's ready for anything and adjusts from pitch to pitch. That's what his former teammates mean by making all the hitters better. Paul! Konerko! Gordon! Beckham! (last year's run). Carlos! Quentin! (when he gets hot). Alexei! Ramirez! (when he gets hot) My peeve was manny getting the credit for our two game winners vs. the Tribe. Uh, AJP and Paulie were the ones to whack it out of the park, not Mr. OnDeck Circle.
  25. I know you are all going to get mad at me, but we are talking bullpen and I can't believe the lack of support on here for Bobby Jenks. I mean my gosh, you would think the guy is a f***ing Linebrink. He has AGAIN stabilized our closing situation. Today he saved TWO games against the f***ing Boston Red Sox. Yet in the game threads people want to kill Jenks. I just don't f***ing get it. People, say you hate his goatee. Say you hate his excess 30 pounds. But give the man some f***ing credit ... please!!!
