  1. Yes but the lineup is not. I just hope if Fields can stay reasonably hot, we let him play a lot. Like somebody said in an earlier thread, it's kind of an odd time for the Beckham callup with Fields actually hitting reasonably well. I wish Lexi would pull his ass out and be the Lexi of old.
  2. If Buddy Bell said that, then why isn't he on the big league club. Our cf situation is s***.
  3. Give me a break. What do you want Oz to say? It's part of his job to talk to the media. He's a damn fine leader. And how do you expect him to have a set lineup with this collection of players that include many who don't deserve to be in the league, combined with many injuries? Our team has not had an outspoken leader forever. Paulie I guess came close in that article during our last slide when he pointed out some team problems in a calm tone. He said a lot, but really nothing. Oz is the team leader; always has been. He's the only leader.
  4. I recall being moderately enthused about his signing at the time. He was horrible.
  5. Detroit lost again; pull your head out, Sox. Other Central teams losing means you are still in the "race."
  6. Yes, that was odd. Maybe our brass was fed up, though, with a singles hitting third baseman. No power from Josh. I think it's worth an explanation, though. It's almost as if you'd rather see Beckham replace Lexi at ss and move Beckham to second and leave Fields at third.
  7. Exactly. Even Anderson can be added to that mix. We need a healthy, productive CQ to go with a productive Beckham to turn this lineup around. We've got too many guys who are reserves.
  8. I actually haven't seen him bat yet. I know he'll be fine, but as fans when a guy goes ohfer two nights in a row and team gets blanked twice, it's natural to fret a bit. Nobody's quitting on him. It'd just be fairytale to see him do something right off the bat.
  9. I'd love to see a study on Sox newcomer debuts. It'd prove once and for all if Sox newcomers suck out of the gate before producing.
  10. I'm not down on him, I'm just adding him to the list of Sox newcomers who never get off to a good start. I think Thome or somebody whacked a homer on Opening DAy in his first appearance. There have been exceptions, but it seems our debut guys always struggle out of the gate.
  11. Tizzle is right. It's sad we can't have a prospect do that for once.
  12. I feel the same way. I bought in.
  13. Sox should just shut up. After we crept back to .500 there were stories about how good a team we have.
  14. Beckham 0-for-6 ... another ohfer and it's gonna get interesting. Wonder if Sox will decide quickly whether they rushed him or not.
  15. After that road trip, did anybody expect this ineptitude? Sox are so bad it's laughable.
  16. Who finishes last: us or the Royals?
  17. Yes, but those who think one specific guy is the answer are crazy. The guy was stating some stat that there's not a 200 game winner among all pitchers drafted No. 1 overall and only a handful who have won 100 games. I will never want my team to lose a game in August or September while happy we might get a better draft pick. I want to win every game even if we are 15 out. The guy was even saying some people don't like the pitching delivery of this year's consensus No. 1 pick. And they talked about Mark Pryor (Prior? sp) falling apart. I don't care about the draft. Give me proven players.
  18. Interesting stuff. Can't argue with anything really. Our power outage sucks.
  19. El Rockin, I just can't believe how weird a team we have. Some nights/weeks we actually hit the ball a bit. Then all those shutouts are maddening. Crazy team we have this season.
  20. You draft lovers are killin me.I assume you are kidding but it's not in green. I just listened to a 30 minute interview from Baseball America draft expert and he said of about 10 guys they could go anywhere from 2 to 25. It's a crapshoot.
  21. Why? He would have been a legitimate pickup. And if Beckham is good like everybody says, that would have been 2 significant upgrades to our lineup in a week. Let's hope Pods keeps doing OK in the days leading up to Danks.
  22. Why don't you make this a positive thread and give me your expectations for him the next 7 games on this homestand. I want eight hits in his next 24 at bats and him to enliven our s*** offense.
  23. I don't mind him calling out the emailers once in a while. It's funny and I'm not big on anonymous emails. I doubt many of them sign their real names. I could be mistaken on that. At least he gives reasons for what he does in his rants against the fans. Sometimes people don't care about his reasons, though.
  24. I've always hoped in the back of my mind we'd get McLouth. You are probably right that it's because Danks is coming soon. But cf is what we need and he was there for the taking.
  25. Who are the good hitting coaches in baseball? Who is a good hitting coach? I mean I wouldn't mind a change but I don't think it would matter a bit. We have a lot of veteran players who do what they do and a lot of young guys who probably have hit the same way all their lives. From what Guillen says, Walker puts in the time, etc. What the f*** is he supposed to do? What hitting coach do you want here? I agree our offense sucks and wouldn't complain if we fired him, but I still don't think it'd matter much.
