Can't we acquire somebody, anybody with major league experience to play third instead of Josh? It's time for him to play some more minor league ball.

I think most of us realize this, but we are holding out hope that lightning will strike and we'll contend. As of now, I'd give our team a D on the A,B,C,D,F scale, no doubt about that. -
Does Peavy end up with White Sox before the trade deadline?
greg775 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Exactly. That's the bottom line on Peavy. -
Don't we have enough pitchers for mop up duty already? We need some more real pitchers.

I wouldn't say AJ stinks. Gobble stinks. AJ does not stink. Fields is close to the stink category as well. -
The Sox are definitely going to have to start playing better baseball or that sweep is assured. I wish they'd get more at bats similar to Paulie's tonight where he whacked that single up the middle to score a run, with I believe, two strikes on him.
-
No, but you were responding to the post that mentioned Clayton's performance making the Padres salivate. So I assumed you were saying pretty much anybody could get the Bucs' hitters out. I just think he deserves a lot of credit because sometimes it doesn't matter who is at the plate with our pitchers on the mound. It looked like he was copying Mark by immediately getting on the damn rubber and working as quickly as he could. The Bucs' hitters stepped out a lot, etc.
-
Nice win. Clayton looked great on my TV. Good to excellent fastball at times and he baffled their lefties nicely. He pitched well IMO. And Lexi at least for that one at bat raked that pitch into the seats making me hopeful he's really gonna heat up just as he did last year. I will say in watching the game, I'm sort of amazed we didn't knock out that starter. Some of those pitches we take at the plate were screaming, hit me. I swear a lot of pitches our guys took were as meaty as the one Dye deposited late. Nice win. And for those of us praying we are contenders, Detroit lost.
-
Not sure if you meant to bash Clayton with this post. I don't care who he's facing it was a very nice outing. Obviously he should be given more chances to start, especially with our rotation somewhat of a mess on the back end. His fastball on TV looked good to excellent at times and he did a nice job against the Bucs' lefties. I'd rather see him out there than Colon. As far as those saying it'd be nice to face the Bucs 19 times like the Cubs do ... we've had a similarly bad team in our division for years in the Royals and we don't always maul them. I give Clayton much credit for tonight. I could give a f*** who we were playing. Nice job.

The key to that sentence is being 6.5 games behind. By falling behind that much, with the Angels next, you risk being 10 out soon and if you are 10 out, forget it. The Sox need to sweep this series and take five of six on a relatively easy homestand.
-
Of course. Why would he jeopardize that? It's always about the money. Also, you ever been to San Diego? It's probably the nicest place to live in the country. If he has a no trade clause to certain teams, you have to sweeten the deal if you hope to get him.
-
Good win. Hopefully Floyd will build off this performance. Unfortunately Detroit is red hot and we can't afford to play s***ty baseball any more. If we drop to 10 back in the next week or so, it's OVA.
-
I've been out of town. Did Sox release Gobble yet? It says a lot of negative things about our franchise that we continue to go to Royals rejects. It's embarrassing.
-
If that's true, that doesn't say mucha bout Fields. You earn your way onto the field. When you get the opportunity you make the most of it. If Fields is that fragile, f*** him. He can rot in the minors some more.
-
Quentin's crumminess is killing this team. He can carry a team. Our lineup on paper is not that bad when you pencil in last year's CQ and Lexi. What is our record in the games CQ has had what could be considered a strong game this year? Lexi and CQ had to hit to make up for the inconsistencies of our big boppers. And thanks for nothing to Fields, who has really stepped up when given the job. CQ isn't healthy, maybe that's the reason for his crumminess.

Thing is, if Walker works as hard as Oz says, working all day with these guys, he's probably pretty well liked by all. It might be tough to axe him as the fall guy. You are right, the players never get blamed. The best thing I guess now is reinsert Anderson and play him every game once he's back. I don't know what they can do with so many players strugglng at the plate. I'd be tempted to say send Alexeii and Floyd down a month, but Nix, Gets, Fields, Lilly et. all are so bad. I hate to say there may be no solutions except firing Oz for shock value and that won't happen. -

You know you have a s***ty team when you assume you will get swept in a four game series. I think most of us figured this would happen. Something's gotta change. They better win five of six or all six on the homestand after this sweep, cause the Angles will sweep their ass. -

Did anybody envision Lexi being this bad this April and May? Yes I know he started slowly last year but cmon. -

There usually does need to be a scapegoat. If we suck vs. the Twins and Pirates at home and are 10 below .500 or something, most baseball teams would probably find a scapegoat somewhere. Usually it's the skipper but like somebody pointed out, Oz's resume looks to be too good to make him that. -

Paulie really fixed what was ailing him. If KW trades him soon, I hope he robs some team. We need help and Paulie looks like he's got it figured out this year. -

Last year was a good, successful year. How can anybody argue that? I can see what they were trying to do this year, mix high paid vets with low paid young talent. The young talent can't hit and in the case of Floyd, pitch, while the vets haven't been miserable but are not producing a lot of runs. -

So suddenly Gavin Floyd stinks and we have two good starters. Our third best is Bartolo Colon. Many of you knew Gavin was a fluke. Our scouts and baseball people thought he was good enough to reward monetarily. Lexi is hitting .212, Fields .231, Miller .214 and Lilly .164. Quentin is hurt and may keep getting hurt because opposing pitchers plunk him constantly. Getz is down to .240. We can't come close to beating a real team like Toronto. It's gonna be a long summer. -
Not necessarily. Depends on who the younger players are. If their names are Lillibridge, Nix, Fields, maybe not. I live in Kansas City. The young players here the last 10 years have not been so fun to watch.

I'm not baseball retarded. I have a different opinion from you. You don't know anything about my knowledge of the game of baseball excapt apparently I don't agree with you. I know the game of baseball. I'd call you a name in response to you calling me retarded, but I don't want to get banned. Some people are in love of the unknown, the draft, in which there are NO GUARANTEES. I prefer to win every f***ing game my team plays. If I still lived in Chicago and had season tickets, I'd be pissed as hell if the games in September were tanked for some unknown draft pick.
