What's the dreaded pitch count? He sure looks like a guy who should start the 8th.

Did anybody besides KW realize Danks was a stud? Was anybody on Soxtalk a complete believer in Danks?

I'll buy that. Sounds about right to me.

If we lose and I hope we don't, we must blame Swish and Crede for failing with the bags loaded in the inning we coulda blown the game open.

I wonder if Lexi is an airhead? He sometimes makes some dumb decisions with the glove as well. I still like him, though.

Man he's a good hitter. And he never walks. How does he keep his average so high? Swish should take some lessons from Lexi.

Lexi is such a free swinger. Wow he takes his hacks.

I love Danks. Congrats again KW. I do not love Swish. Seems like a nice guy, though.

Loss
It's human nature Jenksy Cat. Like somebody pointed out the other day there's ALWAYS something to b**** about, somebody (actually lots of individuals) to b**** about after a loss. I'd say without a doubt there is something you could second guess Guillen and all managers about after a loss. And there's players to blame. It's never going to change. The only time there's not a managerial goat or couple of players to blame is when the ump gets the blame and that's not that often. Last night ... Floyd deserves blame for all the walks and our hitters that had ohfers including Paulie deserve blame for letting that hack look like Tom Seaver.

Loss
I agree with that statement except for "all I know or care." I do care that we finish closer to 100 wins than under .500. I agree there's no way of predicting this team's fate. Two things I hope: We continue to rule at home and we continue to win series against teams in our division.

Your first place Chicago White Sox!
Now that we lost the opener, I think we'd all be ecstatic with 2 of 3. Ain't gonna be easy. First it's up to Danks and getting him some support.

Jose has to pick it up. We can't assume we're going to lose every time he and Javy pitch. They have to return to form. Also, you said: We still make it exciting with errors, keeping the starter in for 5 batters too long, Jenks being a clown, etc., but it usually works out in our favor. Jenks being a clown? I wonder what the weaknesses of all the teams we play are. We are being called one of the best teams in the league and we're apparently horses***.

If only he can pitch well again and not like the last outings of Floyd, Jose and Javy! Go Danks!!! Pitch fast, throw strikes.

Loss
Greinke is damn good. I'd love to have him on our team. Tonight I'll give you. Terrible effort again against a no name. Hope our starters rest up over the break. Jose, Javy, now Floyd all stink in most recent outing. Hope we kick ass at home second half and learn to somehow play better baseball on the road. We're damn lucky we took 2 of 3 from KC. Oh well, we're playing a good team this weekend. Can we win 2 or 1? We shall see.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
I guess people will hate on who they want to hate on. Paulie is the flavor of the week. Hope he gets hot and proves many wrong. I personally want him in the lineup. If Kenny and Ozzie sense his bat is so slow he's finished, my guess is he'll be traded or benched. If they think there's bat speed left and he's healthy, my guess is he'll play every day.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
I hope Mark would have been allowed to finish. I'll email Ozzie and ask him the hypothetical. If he answers I'll let you know. Is it OzzieGuillen13@hotmail??
-
Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
Because of pitch counts. See Gregory's article on Black Jack. Would Ozzie have let him go through the ninth with his count already in the teens? I hope so, but I wonder. Paulie's error was huge. I don't know if we'd have won the game. Boone and Dotel were meat.
-
Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
I don't know about his blunder costing us the sweep. If Ozzie let Mark finish the game I'd agree with you. Pitch counts indicated Mark was done and the Royals were not going lightly. And yes I'd gamble on Paulie busting loose. I could be wrong, but Thome also could bomb; Dye might bomb; Swish might keep sucking. There are no guarantees.
-
Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
I don't know about that. I like what Wise has done. I like Anderson. Not a big Swish fan yet. Let Paulie play and if he finishes the year like this, I guess dump him for peanuts in the offseason. If he gets hot, we'll be that much better off.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
That's what I'm saying as well. If you are going to blast Konerko with legions of stats, at least accept Dick's assertion that Swish has been s*** except for June.

A Conversation with Jack McDowell
I agree Pants, but I wonder if he'd have opened the ninth with the dreaded pitch count over 110.

Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
Almaguest you didn't respond to Dick's post. He pointed out Swish had ONE GOOD MONTH. He also pointed out some major flaws.
-
Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
Thome has been getting some hits lately so the heat has been off him on this board. All Jimmy is gonna have to do is have an oh-fer in Texas for many to say he's through as well.
-
Konerko BAD - Fire GOOD
That's what I don't understand as well. Paulie has sucked with his meager 8 homers in a year he's been hurt some. Swisher has also been average at best and I don't think he's a great centerfielder. One stolen base. Yeah he's really fast. I want Swish lovers to respond to Dick's two posts!
