  1. Is he even starting for the Phils? I want him back.
  2. I don't know if Williams is so stubborn. He thought he had a plan to improve the bullpen obviously with these tall relievers and that plan failed miserably. He thought Erstad had pop left. Erstad is no good. But why is that stubborn. He miscalculated on Hall, who sucks. So why is he stubborn? He may be dumb but not so stubborn.
  3. Bonds should just retire. No team will want this prima donna. You've read the stories about him. He doesn't give a s*** about winning. He does his thing and leaves the stadium. Before games he sits in his personal massive chair and scowls at the media and his teammates. No thanks. Not to mention the drug distractions when his steroid case worsens. I'd rather have Sosa than Bonds and I don't really want Sosa.
  4. I don't want him back but it's amazing how many bad pitchers are in baseball today. If anybody played fantasy baseball this year you know what I'm talking about. Except for the aces on each staff ... there are a lot of Garlands and Jose's out there.
  5. It's just money, paper money. Pay it Jerry or you won't be enjoying any more champagne showers in your lifetime. Not necessarily for Jones, but for Hunter, some pitching, a decent ss, etc.
  6. Jones in left; Hunter in center; Dye in right. That would be pretty wild. I want it.
  7. Do we want him? He only hit .222 but if the ball is lively next year he could be in for a comeback season. I think he'd be a good acquisition. There's no way he's going to get the kind of money he wants unless there's some horrible GM out there willing to open the wallet. How bout two years 15 million total? Welcome to Chicago, Andruw.
  8. Gone are... Uribe Pods Erstad (please, please let him go; I'm fearing he'll be back). Jose MacDougal Sisco Aardsma Thornton Crede (traded in spring training when he proves he can play) Cintron Hall Here's my ideal team 1b- Paulie. 2b-Richar. ss-Renteria or Felipe (please no Eckstein). 3b-Josh (please learn how to field). LF - Owens CF - Hunter/Rowand whoever we acquire. RF - Dye C - AJP and new backup. DH - Jim or Fields if we trade Jim. SP - Mark, Vazzy, Garland, Danks, Floyd, Charlie. RP - Boone, Wassy, many many new faces. Closer- Bobby. Manager - Ozzie
  9. I thought we all agreed Ozzie ball was a myth. We've been a home run or nothing team for a while now. Except of course the WS year when Pods did steal a s***load of bases.
  10. I also didn't like KW's comments about Uribe in that Trib article you linked. Juan has proven he's not an everyday ss offensive wise. He's a head case as a hitter who won't do what it takes to get better. Time for Juan to try it somewhere else. Or else we'll be seeing him take that hard hack, swinging and missing again next year, or popping up of course when he should be moving runners. He sucks.

Excellent post winningugly. That deserves to be printed somewhere. Wait ... this is somewhere. Nice post.
  12. I would think KW and Oz both will be starting new next year. As much as I'd love to give them lifetime passes for the WS title, it's time to do better. Seeing Myers and Macdougal today made me cringe again and pray both of them are gone as well as never seeing Sisco, Aardsma, Masset, Erstad again. Uribe can take a hike too. As well as Jose. Bye guys.
  13. Legitimate concerns, gosox. You made me cringe thinking about it being cold next April and the team sucking again. That would suck. I personally think we need to keep Mark, Vazzy and Jon as a solid threesome, at least on paper a solid threesome. But I guess Garland is gone from what everybody is saying. He needs to overhaul the bullpen and needs to let Erstad walk. We do not need or want Erstad. We need 2 new middle relievers; we need a new ss not named Eckstein. We need Hunter. I love Rowand but he had a pretty amazing season in Philly and I can see the meltdown coming if he has a bad April and May from Sox fans on here. He might actually be due for a down year. He's been good since leaving here. And we have been awful bad since he left. I would say the odds of the team sucking again are much greater than the odds of being a .550 team.
  14. I'm with you Seal. I never thought I'd have to defend winning, either. But it's been going on a month or more now. Amazing.
  15. Exactly. Great post. Tizzle I can't believe you called the fans idiots. Basically anybody who doesn't hold your position on this matter is an idiot, right? If the White Sox sat all their veteran players this past month to get a draft pick, in my mind the commissioenr would be right in banishing the team from the league. It would be as bad as the Black Sox scandal. How come fans at the park are cheering when we win?? Because they paid good money and want to see a win. They want to see Paulie and Thome homer. Tizzle, you are not god. People have the right to disagree with you or do you not see it that way?
  16. Forgive the repeat question, but could somebody give me Ozzie's email address? Thanks very much. I always forget to save it when somebody posts it.
  17. I don't know why everybody wants Jon gone. I know the money, but losing Garland will assure us being a noncontender. We'll have two decent starters in Mark and Vazzy and question marks in the next three. You don't win pennants without good starting pitching. And our bullpen currently is the worst in baseball except for Bobby. Jon, Mark and Vazzy would be a decent threesome. I don't see how they can have just two reliable starters, I'm assuming Jose is gone. He's too old. If they truly bring Myers back, that could be the nail in Kenny's coffin. That guy is finished. He cannot pitch.
  18. I'm glad they resigned him. Like Dick Allen said we do need somebody to step up behind him so AJP can be rested more vs. lefties. But all in all he's a pretty good hitter.
  19. I don't think it's crazy to ask the question. a.) There's never much new discussion on here except the perceived value of a No. 1 draft pick versus winning at all costs. b.) I think the fact he has 40 saves and that incredible consecutive out streak and doing it on a horrible team is even more impressive than if it would have been a good team. I don't think he should win it, but my point and hope was that he would be in the discussion. At any rate ... great year, Bobby. --Colorado beat Oklahoma today; Kansas State leads Texas by 10 at half; I believe MSU was leading Wisconsin as well in second quarter.
  20. It's neat that there's been no discussion of the Cubs clinching on the Sox board. I assume you are all like me, shrug of the shoulders and who cares. Since we won it all two years ago I could care less if they win it all. It will not bother me either way. We got there first.
  21. Considering Bobby's 40 saves and his sensational record-setting streak of consecutive outs recorded, I was wondering ... should Bobby receive votes for AL Cy Young winner? I think he should. He was outstanding all year long.
  22. Numbers mean everything in baseball and Thome now has had a very good year. He drove me crazy like everybody else in making tons of outs when the season was not yet over, but numbers don't lie. He had a very good year.
  23. I'll play the hypothetical game. Yes I'd probably be calling for his head if we hadn't reached the Series at least in 05. Because like Yossarian said, the team appears on the verge of insignificance. However, KW DID lead the team to a world championship. To me, firing him or Oz this season would have been cruel and inhuman. I mean Chicago does not win baseball championships (if the Cubs win it all this year they can thank us for paving the way; the Cub routs of the Sox this year turned that team around twice). So yes if the Sox had not made the WS in 05 I'd probably be calling for his head and likely Oz's as well. But he did win it all and that may even get him one more year in my eyes to show he has a plan for a return to prominence. Winning it all should mean something. KW and Oz can't go from world champs to guys without a job in 2 years.
  24. Just to let you know ... I am laughing as hard at you "draft guys" as you are laughing at me. You are aggravated with playing three veterans in our final home series? Uh ... maybe the f***ing fans who pay top dollar to go to the games want to see these three players and do not care about the f***ing baseball draft. Have you ever thought of that? I myself love the fact Thome homered again tonight and Vazzy again is pitching well. I could care less about the June draft but I care greatly about tonight's game and beating the f***ing Tigers. You people that want to lose, I mean not to be disrespectful, but tanking in games makes me sick. You play a game, you should want to win. If not, why have sports at all. f*** THE DRAFT!!!! GO SOX!!!
  25. Great post. Very informative on what you saw out of Broadway. I think it's dangerous to deal Jon, but that's just me. I would not trust Danks/Flod/Gio/Egbert. Hopefully we'll get some new long relievers if our rotation consists of just 2 reliable starters and a bunch of unknowns.
