  1. It's silly to talk about a comeback from an 8-run deficit. Kind of embarrassing., Just take the loss. If KU scores five, maybe we can talk.
  2. If the Sox are under .500 at the all-star break, I would think Tony would step down citing fatigue. Hahn probably won't resign or get fired cause he most certainly didn't want Tony in the first place.
  3. I'm still mad about all those years the Sox tanked during the rebuild.
  4. Is it hyperbole to say the Sox will be fortunate to win one this series?
  5. What's with all the walks? Sox playing bad baseball. Nice blast by Moncada though to tie it briefly.
  6. Too many walks. The defense falls asleep. Sox defense clownish again. Jose falling asleep again.
  7. Burr gives me a burr in my side. Bam! 450 foot HR.
  8. Small sample size but Gavin is never gonna hit lefties is he? Anybody see any potential there? He's only had 10 at bats vs lefties this year, one hit, so I would think he's a platoon guy at best the rest of his career. A guy they pinch hit for late when he faces a lefty reliever too? Just wondering but he appears to be another lefty hitter with no chance vs. a lefty.
  9. If Eloy gets hurt again within 2-3 weeks after his return, I'd classify him as a bust. He's at that stage in my mind. Sad cause he looked like a monster prospect, can't stay healthy. Now it's up to him. If he rakes and stays healthy thru the postseason, he'll be rightly considered one of baseball's top prospects still.
  10. I wouldn't bunt there with two of the team's better hitters at the plate. They'd have screwed up the squeeze bunt I'm pretty sure. Managers shouldn't be bunting at all any more. The metrics people have deemed it wrong so it's wrong and no reason to have it in the playbook any more.
  11. Exactly. It's dumb to tweet about injuries via "sources." Just get an official update from the trainer, geez. If Hector is correct and he's playing in two weeks, nice job but cmon.
  12. Save this thread. See when he really returns to the MLB team. Two weeks would be still in May. Cmon, no way they are rushing this guy.
  13. That is the million dollar question. Sudden bursts of speed seem like a recipe for disaster with some of the Sox incredible physical specimens. Sox should give Richard Dent a call and asked how he prevented hammy pulls/rips.
  14. Natural progression would have Eloy getting hurt a week or two after his return, this one for the rest of the season or til the start of the playoffs. Sorry to say, he's now got to be considered 'injury prone' til he proves otherwise. And he's not going to be back in two weeks. There is no way the Sox will bring him back quickly just to have him suffer a severe relapse.
  15. Nice to see Gio go 7. What happened in the ninth to almost blow it? I didn't see this one. Box score looks awfully pretty. 10 hits. HR from Sheets; Timmy's BA climbing.
  16. Oops looks like Sox might hit Naylor tonight. That means automatic ejection of the pitcher and a brawl. I would think it's certain Sox throw at him. This from Yahoo story by Jason Owens: "Again, his excitement was understandable. It's also the kind of thing that can irk baseball's traditionalists, who generally don't take kindly such displays of exuberance. Players have done less than Naylor and found themselves facing a high and tight fastball in retaliation. Because a 98-mph projectile thrown at an opponent's head seems like a reasonable response to some people. White Sox manager Tony La Russa is most certainly a traditionalist. The Guardians and White Sox play again on Tuesday. Stay tuned."
  17. You saw last night's game. Cleveland wanted it so bad late in that game. Sox were dazed, confused and lousy. These Central teams want to beat the Sox badly. Sox do not seem to want to return the favor. I do find it tough to write posts critical of the Sox, though, cause the team is not whole.
  18. I'm concerned about inability to beat the Central teams. Let's say Sox have a series against a Central Division team on the road. Are you confident the Sox have even a shot at winning that series? Nobody fears the Sox and I'd say Sox chances of winning a road series vs. Cleveland, KC, Minnie or Detroit are not good the rest of the season. That leaves home games vs. those teams. Sox 'should' beat them every time. It's not happening. That is a concern. Maybe it'll change when the team is healthy.
  19. The games I've watched (eye test), Jose has 'dropped' more throws this year than I've ever seen in the past. Now this may be way off base. I'm just going by eye test in games I've watched. I wonder if Jose is losing the proverbial 'step' in the field and at bat. I know he's a slow starter but he only has 12 RBI. His BA blows. I still love the guy but it seems to me he has the same defensive ailment that's hit the whole team. I could be full of it. Only going by eye test here. Mabe the metrics say he's fine on defense still.
  20. I'm disappointed in Jose. Had a chance to go with the pitch and drive a game winning hit to right.
  21. Renteria was not that bad IMO. Tony is a good manager. He just has an injured team with holes. He's still probably over the long haul going to lead this team to the division title. Tonight was the worst loss of his tenure except for last postseason. But the team figures to wake up once it learns the Central Division teams have the Sox number and it will take extra effort to beat them. The fact the Sox only get up for games outside the division is sad.
  22. I'm sure it's happened that the Sox have had rallies like Cleveland had tonight. But as a Sox fan I'm thinking the Sox go down meekly almost ALL of the time when down by six or more runs in the ninth. Cmon. You almost have to try to blow a lead that big with three outs to go. The Sox looked like clowns on defense that half inning and you could smell trouble with the team kicking the ball around like the Bad News Bears. Tony is wrong about the defense. When is the last time the Sox rallied from six down in the ninth to win?
  23. Yes. Sox had chances in the ninth and 10th.
  24. I think I actually saw the Sox blow a 4-run lead in the ninth vs. KC at Kauffman a long time ago. Fat Steve Balboni ripped a home run to ruin my night. Prior to the ninth that night, the Sox were cruising. I was so mad and the Royals fans I was with mocked me mercilessly.
  25. Pretty good summation. Can't argue with this observation.
