COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
You guys are so wild observing greg's posts. I call you all greg observers. I feel fortunate my words are recalled by many. (p.s. church update: My 5 p.m. Sunday Mass in a very big church has yet to have more than 25 attendees. Masks, sanitizer, etc., no more than 3 in a pew. It's been rather sad actually. No music. 45 minute limit on the Mass, usually ends in 35). Compared to many Americans, my Covid behavior has been stellar and I continue to pray none of us get it, including me, knock on wood.

Realistic trade candidates AKA The Lynnsanity Thread
I would trade McCann but I don't know what we'd get in this bizarre season, probably not much with him entering free agency. You think we coulda traded Collins to the Royals for the closer they traded today to SD? That might have been an OK deal as we could use somebody lights out to pitch in the eighth before our closer takes over. I like McCann and Collins, but trading one of them for great value wouldn't be so upsetting because either one of them can be a great backup to Grandal. I also would trade Cease if we can get a lot for him. I still think he can be a star but he's yet to emerge as more than a maybe type prospect.

I thought we loved Burdi on this board. Second guessing isn't always fair.

Sox vs KC 8/29 game thread 1:10 first pitch
I worship Jose as some know, but for some reason my brain tells me he needs a day off once in a while and never gets one. Some of these veteran players I think get very upset at the manager when they are not in the lineup ... and some veteran pitchers (Verlander, Sale, even our own Dallas K) get very upset when the manager hooks them with two on and two out in the seventh inning in a 5-1 ballgame or in the eighth in a 5-1 ballgame with men on second and third an one out. More unwritten rules ... let the proven veterans do what they want.

I bet you this does happen. It's going to hurt our lineup, it really is if this happens. Oh well, he needs to heal.

Certainly Cooper has a big role in the bullpen decisions. The guy has been around forever and is a pitching genius. You can't tell me he's not making the calls in the bullpen.

I always rooted for bubba Starling but I have no idea how he's doing. And some people have accused me of being a closet KC fan. Not me. I know all about Mendick and Engel but not the KC stiffs.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Have the greg observers noticed I'm not b****ing about really anything? You should all take it from me. I think we have a good team so there's no reason to stress about little stuff. When we play bad teams we "usually" win. When we play really good teams we have a real chance of winning. Sox have added some nice pieces. The team is much better than a year ago, especially if the pitching continues to be good against bad teams. Some fans are really freaking out; I'm not one of them. Peace.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great win. I felt fine after we were able to keep it 5-5 in the 9th. That's the difference when you can score runs. Sox have so many weapons it didn't take long. Those not sure about Grandal are misguided. He's really good and was a great pick-up.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
KU has 10 sororities and fraternities under quarantine. Not everybody is stuck in there 14 days; it's a complicated quarantine. But KU has had the predictable ton of cases since the students reported a week ago. Douglas County recommends no contact sports as we move into a yellow zone from green which means the two high schools have their openers canceled. But KU keeps practicing.

Soxfan, why was Stoney calling the 9th? Does he do the 9th inning normally? My bad.

Steve/Jason appreciation post
Nice thread. Not one negative post so far. The 2 of them are great and I enjoy listening to them. I even like the fact Stone must have said, 'f--k it, I don't care I might as well sing along with Jason' to 'Nationwide is on your side.' Normally that would annoy me greatly but it seems to me Jason sang it alone a few times and Stoney refused then for some reason he joined in and hasn't stopped. Again it's corny and dumb but I don't mind it. Stone is a genius IMO and a pleasure to hear his commentary, stories and comebacks. Jason B is very good and the 2 are continuing a tradition of great fun listening to Sox games. Harry and Jimmy to Hawk and WImpy/Jackson/Stone to Jason and Stone, which is the best (except for Harry). Hawk became a crabby man his last 2 seasons; earlier he was amazing. I never hated him, but didn't like his bad moods the last 2 seasons.

Jake Burger Thread
I'm just not a big draft guy. Remember we'd get in fights on here when people were celebrating Sox losses in August and September so we'd get a better draft pick and that would drive me crazy. So that year when Sox drafted Burger, I was totally against it and kind of bashed him and the whole waiting for the draft with baited breath process. I got in trouble for calling some Sox fans draftniks but it is what it is.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
I didn't see the game but if Jason mentioned the no-no, this deserves national publicity to be the shining example that the superstition is B.S. I've heard ballplayers get mad in the past if they hear the announcer jinxed a no-no. Kudos to Jason for mentioning it beforehand.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
Congrats to Giolito. That is special. And the entire team. That's monumental to get a no-hitter, kind of neat to get it against an NL team.

Did Eloy Hurt Himself???
Sounds like he's OK but does have to be re-evaluated Wednesday. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/eloy-jimenez-injures-ankle-celebrating-no-hitter

2020 Catch-All
Anybody have relatives in Kenosha? If you are religious pray it calms down. If not, hope it calms down. It's a nice town. I have relatives near there. A couple more nights like last night may really, truly dismantle that city. https://www.fox6now.com/news/broke-his-jaw-man-in-his-70s-attacked-while-trying-to-protect-burning-kenosha-mattress-store?fbclid=IwAR1PqaFD3j5wBKnfLb0nRj7JAAba6MCYncYv32bDlLVE2eyk_iKibEwAVms

Stone on Front Office involvement
In today's climate, Stone has probably already rocked the boat a bit with a few of his tweets. Announcers are complete house-men for most teams. Doesn't matter. I love Stone and he's playing with house money. He has enough money to retire 10 times over. He has no kids so he's probably not paying much in alimony anymore. He can say whatever he wants as if he gets fired who cares? I never thought of that, but it makes sense the analysts and GM are making lineups. I wonder if they are making the in game calls as well. I think the pitching coach should make all the calls regarding in game decisions and the manager should be told organizational philosophy about bunting, and whether to use an opener, etc. The manager is responsible for a good clubhouse.

Madrigal to the IL/Delmonico Optioned
That was a freak injury Madrigal suffered on the throw from Avi. Hope he has gotten his bad luck out of the way getting hurt in his fifth MLB game. I kind of like him and Mendick. We need some singles hitters to go with our bombers.

I'm not trying to rip anybody, but can you imagine being the scout who pushed for the Jake Burger pick? I know ... u can never tell about injuries but this is a results business. Odom vs. Durant got a few peeps fired.

Sad, I'm putting u on ignore. Hate to do it but I must. The others I've put on ignore have helped me be more civil. I've now got 3 on ignore and life is better.
