Jake Burger Thread
I'm just not a big draft guy. Remember we'd get in fights on here when people were celebrating Sox losses in August and September so we'd get a better draft pick and that would drive me crazy. So that year when Sox drafted Burger, I was totally against it and kind of bashed him and the whole waiting for the draft with baited breath process. I got in trouble for calling some Sox fans draftniks but it is what it is.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
I didn't see the game but if Jason mentioned the no-no, this deserves national publicity to be the shining example that the superstition is B.S. I've heard ballplayers get mad in the past if they hear the announcer jinxed a no-no. Kudos to Jason for mentioning it beforehand.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX NO HITTER WINNER
Congrats to Giolito. That is special. And the entire team. That's monumental to get a no-hitter, kind of neat to get it against an NL team.

Did Eloy Hurt Himself???
Sounds like he's OK but does have to be re-evaluated Wednesday. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/eloy-jimenez-injures-ankle-celebrating-no-hitter

2020 Catch-All
Anybody have relatives in Kenosha? If you are religious pray it calms down. If not, hope it calms down. It's a nice town. I have relatives near there. A couple more nights like last night may really, truly dismantle that city. https://www.fox6now.com/news/broke-his-jaw-man-in-his-70s-attacked-while-trying-to-protect-burning-kenosha-mattress-store?fbclid=IwAR1PqaFD3j5wBKnfLb0nRj7JAAba6MCYncYv32bDlLVE2eyk_iKibEwAVms

Stone on Front Office involvement
In today's climate, Stone has probably already rocked the boat a bit with a few of his tweets. Announcers are complete house-men for most teams. Doesn't matter. I love Stone and he's playing with house money. He has enough money to retire 10 times over. He has no kids so he's probably not paying much in alimony anymore. He can say whatever he wants as if he gets fired who cares? I never thought of that, but it makes sense the analysts and GM are making lineups. I wonder if they are making the in game calls as well. I think the pitching coach should make all the calls regarding in game decisions and the manager should be told organizational philosophy about bunting, and whether to use an opener, etc. The manager is responsible for a good clubhouse.

Madrigal to the IL/Delmonico Optioned
That was a freak injury Madrigal suffered on the throw from Avi. Hope he has gotten his bad luck out of the way getting hurt in his fifth MLB game. I kind of like him and Mendick. We need some singles hitters to go with our bombers.

Jake Burger Thread
I'm not trying to rip anybody, but can you imagine being the scout who pushed for the Jake Burger pick? I know ... u can never tell about injuries but this is a results business. Odom vs. Durant got a few peeps fired.

Jose Abreu Appreciation Thread
Sad, I'm putting u on ignore. Hate to do it but I must. The others I've put on ignore have helped me be more civil. I've now got 3 on ignore and life is better.

Jose Abreu Appreciation Thread
Have to chime in. I did not complain about it. I would like to say thanks for the title of this thread. I have been waiting for this thread forever on Soxtalk and now it's here. I feel he's getting his due and that makes me happy. I need to buy an Abreu jersey. Me.Likey.Jose and his contributions to the Sox.

I'm speechless and very sad reading this, that somebody could write this after such a joyous Jose-a-thon weekend.

How much longer do you wait on EE and Mazara?
I like having EE. I think he'll get hot and be fine. I do. As far as Mazara, I've studied his stats at Texas and if he could just do that level of production this weird 60 game season Sox would take it. Why not just platoon him with Engel for a bit? Then give the job to Rutherford next year or trade for a RF if Mazara is a stuff. Does Vaughn know how to chase a fly ball? Stick him in RF with Robert able to chase down so many fly balls effortlessly with his speed.

8-23 GT: Sox @ Cubs (1:20pm)
Sox record is way too good to fire RR. I'm glad I don't post in game threads hardly ever. I just read through this. I left after Yearnin' angered me about Jose. Yes Sox could have swept. Sox only scored one today after two great offensive nights. Stuff happens. I think the RR criticism about Cease could go either way. He threw a lot of pitches, yes, but at some point Sox and fans both will want him to extend a bit deeper in games. The way I see it is Sox bats deadened after two utterly remarkable outburst games. Sox didn't hit today. Hindsight being 20/20 it woulda been a good day to rest Robert. On the positive side ... Grandal had a good weekend and looks like an all star; Jose had a remarkabe weekend; Eloy was magnificent; Timmy was great. Lopez was good; Cease was pretty good; Giolito is maybe a true stud. Bullpen has been nice. Apologies for forgetting some. Sox played great in Wrigley. Two out of three is fine. If we meet them in the WS we won't want the season series to be a ridiculous 6-0 or something. That would hex the Sox. Try reverse psychology Ricky haters. Look at Sox record and assume his loose clubhouse is a reason for it and his ability to speak the language of so many of his players. Remember Ned Yost won a WS and he was generally regarded as a clown. SOX FOREVER BABY; JOSE FOR SOX HALL OF FAME

8-23 GT: Sox @ Cubs (1:20pm)
I'm trying to stay classy with you and not rub it in. Are you at least enjoying Jose's run? Or do you hate him so much you aren't? I'm out. I won't ruin the thread arguing with you. Happy Sunday to all. Let's win!

8-23 GT: Sox @ Cubs (1:20pm)
Darvish has given up two home runs all year. Folks we are witnessing a series we'l probably never see again by a Sox player. The power unleashed against the Cubs has been throoughly enjoyable. And it's the veteran leading the way. I hope those who have ripped Jose in the past give him a break when he goes bad in the future, cause this is a monumental stretch by the guy. Last night he homered on at least one at bat where he fouled off or took two cookies. And he still homered. That smile by Darvish said it all. He's first Sox player to ever hit six homers in one series. ALL PRAISE JOSE. My gawd.
-
White Sox Winner!
Think about that. Against the Cubs. In Wrigley. We are witnessing a destructive bat. Five homers in two games. I salute this man. ... I know Ron's excuse. He'll say he can't handle pressure and if there were fans he'd be striking out. He's only hot in empty stadiums. I say ... Jose keep it up, sir. See the ball, hit the ball. Relax and BOOM!

8-22 GT: Sox @ Cubs (7:15pm)
You've got ... to be bleeping me. I love that man! Go Sox! 3 HRs for the big guy. 4 hits.
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!@@
Only thing better would be if Maddon was still around to witness that bombardment. The Sox totally annihilated a starter who has had great success in the game of baseball (Lester). I mean when he goes to bed he'll be seeing visions of some CANNONS hit in the bleachers off him. To hit that many home runs off the Cubs, left to concede in the fifth cause they inew they couldn't score 8 with Dallas out there, special. No matter what happens rest of series, that was a pure beatdown of epic HR proportion. And my man, Jose, should get headlines for what he did. Pitch under his fricking chin? Next pitch ... bam, home run.
-
What should the Sox do with James McCann?
Grandal is a star. Now that Sox got him, enjoy him. That bomb tonight was legendary. BAM. McCann is great too, but he's no Grandal.
-
8-21 GT: Sox @ Cubs (7:15pm)
To hit six home runs against the Cubs and annihilate Lester ... and have all the home runs massive blasts ... against another Chicago team is about as good as it gets. I like the way the Cub manager gave up at 8-0 and took out some starters, knowing yes, 8-0 is not insurmountable but Keuchel wasn't gonna give up eight runs. So he quit in the fifth inning. Cool. And Jose's second home run should be talked about a lot, probably won't be. How often does a guy almost get hit in the face with a pitch and on the next pitch hit a mammoth home run? That is special.
-
8-21 GT: Sox @ Cubs (7:15pm)
Are u kidding me? Jose Abreu almost gets hit in the chin with a fastball. And he hits a mammoth home run the next pitch. How can anybody NOT LOVE this man. As my friend in colorado just texted me, "Abreu is a bad man."

That Eloy home run was amazing. If anybody ever wants to doubt Eloy's potential, just watch a replay of that and stifle your concerns. He is a monster.

That was a big league home run by Grandal. My gawd. South Side Hit Men, Folks.
