Steve Stone not returning to the booth next season???
I love Stoney. If they don't give him a 3 year deal (if he wants that) that means they'll be trying to save money by hiring some other color announcer. Why else wouldn't you just give him a 3-year deal? He's a great announcer and shows no signs of age. If for some reason he started to show his age, geez, I think he'd be fine with quitting. I'd give him a three year deal then after that say, stoney, you are 75. One year deals from now on. Nobody lives forever.

White Sox listed as interested in Marcel Ozuna by Dominican Reporter
I must be an exception. I've always loved Avi and of course want him back. There have been absolutely no rumblings that that could occur. My hope is he continues to fare well in Tampa.

A Realistic Offseason
Gio very good season; Lopez was not good, you'd be wise to say he was average at best. And the third guy has done nothing yet. So we shall see. I do like Gio a lot.

A Realistic Offseason
I have a sneaky feeling the Sox are not going to hit .500 this season. Mr. Hahn has some work to do. I sure hope he's devised a realistic plan for the offseason. I mean he's had plenty of time, since mid August to assess this team and what it needs. He and his staff should also be able to reasonably assess which free agents will even possibly consider the White Sox. Now execute the plan. Unless Jerry has fallen in love with saving the money, start signing some guys.

2nd Generation Rebuild
Sox have the uncanny ability to acquire guys that are so bad they have to release them. Although somehow I think Teahen and Erstad might have made it a whole season unlike LaRoche, Alonso and a pitcher whose name I forget.

.243, 114 strike outs and he's 28. I mean I won't get worked up but I don't get why he's worth all that money and some other 28 year olds are worth pennies.

2nd Generation Rebuild
Glad you are not advocating for this. At some point the Sox have to go with what they've got and try to win win win. Sox fans are learning these draft picks are nice enough and the two major trades look very good, but still there's so much front office work to be done. If the Sox want to ever reach .500 again they are gonna have to have a much larger payroll. Time to spend and spend big time. not to trade guys like Yoan.

Disco Demolition Review...
Yes, it's possible that area of centerfield that actually was on fire at one point might have provided danger to the centerfielders and if players were finding record bits weeks later as somebody on here wrote, then there probably was reason to make the Sox forfeit Game Two. However again, by the time the announcers said goodbye, the Sox brass and cops had done a nice job of making things safe. Think about all those fans who had to be cleared from the neighborhood. Again, in a sign of the times, I think if that happened say, this past summer on a muggy night, I think there would have been a lot of injuries. Depending on the mood of the mob, maybe some deaths as in turning over cars, etc.

**Movies that we Watch** Thread
Is Zombieland sequel good? That first one 10 years ago was fun. Woody is great. Is Joker worth going to? Or Judy? I don't care about individual performances by Phoenix and/or Renee Z. I want a good movie. I thought Hustlers sucked BTW.

Disco Demolition Review...
If the Sox had a rap demolition night I think there would be murders in the ballpark and outside it. Not hyperbole. It's my opinion. Rap/hip hop, whatever is very popular. Kansas had Snoop Dogg on campus recently and 17,000 fans knew all the words to his songs. Defenders of rap would storm The Cell and I believe violence might ensue. As far as Disco Demolition Night, in watching that video, I am amazed that nobody got hurt. I don't think anybody got hurt. No players, fans, cops, team officials. I think nowadays with that many people on the field, there would probably be violence of some kind. Finally, I actually was impressed in watching the video. At one point the entire field was covered with fans/teens. The whole field. Harry and Veeck and those guys were by home plate. By the end of the broadcast, the field was totally cleared and in fact if you look at the end of the video, the field didn't look so bad. Yes it was unplayable probably, but not that bad. And by the time the announcers signed off, it didn't seem like that huge a deal, in fact, the Sox had not yet forfeited game two. At sign off time they were talking about a Sunday doubleheader to make up the disco game. I think in anger at the Sox doing this promotion, the commissioner or AL president ruled it a forfeit well after the fans had left and the park had been cleared. Listen to the announcers signing off. They were not acting as if this was one of the biggest stories in modern baseball history, which it turned out to be. They were calm and signed off regular tone of voice. My conclusion: Sox front office should never ever have had a promotion where records were actually blown up. And if traffic truly was backed up to O Hare airport, cmon, they should have made something up to get the fans out of the stadium before the disco ceremony. I don't know how you could have gotten the fans out of there but when that stadium was full to the brim ... the disco demolition ceremony simply could NOT be held at that point. Maybe give all the kids a ticket that guaranteed them a free rock record of their choice at their local store.

Illinois High School Football Thread
Hey Harry, what's up with the Crusaders? Are we just young and will be great next season? Has the transfer from Aurora who is committed to LSU played all season? I've watched some games and it seemed the guys were out of it vs. St. Laurence. No tackling on that long TD run in the second half. Also seems like the coach at least that night had no confidence in QB, handing it off to our stud running back almost every down when I was watching. Will Rice make the state playoffs? I think we are 4-3.

NLCS- Nationals/Cardinals
Man, the Cardinal got swept. Kind of a shock.

NLCS- Nationals/Cardinals
If they are de-juiced now, baseball is so dysfunctional. Why not finish what you started. If they are juiced and baseball is all about homers and strikeouts in 2019, at least keep it that way all season for gosh sakes.

ALDS- Twins/Yankees
How can the Twins get beat by the Yankees so regularly? Minnie had a great regular season.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
You could have stopped there. Jerry has been a horrific owner, no doubt about it. I'm personally grateful for the one WS. Not to be an ingrate, but in 38 years in a city as big as Chicago, you would expect at least one WS title. As a matter of fact, without that WS appearance Reinsdorf would be considered one of the worst baseball owners in history. He got it however and that's a shining star on his baseball resume. Still five playoffs in 38 years? Cmon that is wretched. Also I know The Cell is OK and has been OK, but it's not as if Jerry has us playing in a palace like Old Comiskey. I know the Sox needed modern locker rooms and training facilities and needed a new stadium, but frankly Jerry's ownership group kind of got us a stadium that rates a 'blah' on the blah-wow specrtum. Old Comiskey was a WOW when it was full. In short, Jerry's has been an awful ownership group. Fans have been very good to him. Our crowds in the Cell have been pretty darn good year to year considering the product. I wish he'd sell now.

2019 Catch-All
It really is terrible driving on 2 lane highways. I know it's little consolation but everytime we drive we should feel thankful we're not killed. Last year in Dallas I was driving about 65 at night and there was a car stopped in the middle of the highway. Luckily I wasn't looking at my phone or daydreaming. I cut the wheel left hard and hoped I wouldn't flip the car, missed the car somehow, kept the car going straight. We should all be dead and it can happen out of nowhere. Lots of crap can happen on 2 lane highways so I'd just be thankful you are safe. One crash and life changes in an instant.

Steve Stone not returning to the booth next season???
Stoney tweeted this today ... 2019 was a repeat of the Steroid Era and slugball. The ball is too lively. Hr’s and strikeouts and walks in abundance isn’t good for the game. Baseball will dial the ball back. Manufacturing runs will once again be part of our game. Stolen bases and hit and runs will be back == I'm not so sure Stoney is right.

A Realistic Offseason
The crazy thing is Hahn and Kenny must have a plan and they are just waiting for the WS to end to strike. I mean they know what's our there. They know the money they have to spend and they ought to get a few things done as soon as they can. JD and Cole seem silly to wait on and unattainable to me. JD is staying in Boston and Cole in Houston. Why would Houston let him go? I bet you the Sox temper expectations all winter and at Soxfest. They aren't used to fans thinking they have a shot at making the playoffs and until they become a .500 team they probably would be best to shut up about playoffs. Or a lot of people will be fired if the Sox suck again. Yes there are ways to see the team being good next year; the team also could suck.

NLDS- Nationals/Dodgers
It's safe to say we need a few veterans both in our lineup and on our pitching staff if we hope to win it all anytime soon. Of course if the tank/rebuild takes long enough, Timmy and Moncada could be those veterans.
-
NLDS- Nationals/Dodgers
Howie Kendrick, LOL! Greg looking pretty good with his outdated theories. Veterans, in his case 36 years old, can help in a playoff situation. 36 years old and Howie baby hits a grand slam, biggest hit (or in top 3) in franchise history. What are Howie's advanced stats like, folks? At 36. He had great traditional stats, only a 2.6 WAR. Maybe that's gonna be Jose at 36 blasting a homer like that.

JDM staying in Boston
I'll shut up after this as I tend to obsess on certain topics, but it confuses me why a guy on a good team who makes very very good money, more than he'll ever need, would opt out of 61 million dollars to go play for some other team that 'may' offer him way more, may not. Baseball has had some weird offseasons in terms of paying players (Moose comes to mind) and I don't know why a guy guaranteed that much loot would enter free agency when he's already on a great team in a great baseball city. Oh well, I'll shut up now on this topic.

ALDS- Rays/Astros
Thanks Ron. I am passionate once in a while and I've been passionate about Avi, mainly because again of the thrills he gave me that incredible season he had with the Sox. He's always passed my eye test and his stats have been fine. Yeah he's sort of a clod defensively, but he's not exactly an embarrassment on defense either. He was 4 for 5 in a huge playoff game. I hope he keeps it up. Sometimes veterans are what you want in the postseason. Bats cleanup tonight, goes 4 for 5. Rays tie the series. Oh I wish Avi could somehow be the hero of Game 5. Odds are huge Astros will pound the Rays into submission however.

JDM staying in Boston
Anybody know why he'd opt out of a 3 year 61 million dollar deal? With a good team? I don't care what his stats are and you all suggest they are great ... Somebody will give him 3 years 75 mill or something? Kind of strange to me that Boras would have him opt out. He's that good that 3 years 61 mill doesn't excite JD anymore? Just askin'
