  1. Gee, this is what I was saying when I got in all that trouble for being a troublemaking "troll." When I argue against caring about the draft. I was told by so many that we're supposed to lose games for the beloved draft. My position that draft picks bust and the draft is a crapshoot was not a popular stance. it was "lose, lose, lose" and by gosh greg why can't you see why we want to lose games!"
  2. He doesn't fit the profile of somebody who scours Twitter for comments on the Sox. Somebody needs to remind him there's not a whole lot of interest in the White Sox and there's not a lot of anti Sox talk on Twitter. In this day and age of ultra sensitive PC, Coop's comments come close to having to apologize. He says a lot of negative stuff about fans who criticize. Again ... he's not the manager. He needs to relax. He seemed especially sensitive regarding Reynaldo Lopez who has been so inconsistent. I don't think any Sox fans are clamoring to get rid of Rey. Now Covey and some of the hacks, of course we hate seeing them pitch. The Sox should apologize to all fans for pitching Covey so much this season. he's disgracefully overmatched. Coop ... have an extra beer and get your pitchers more consistent. Sox fans aren't clamoring for your firing or anything. We want a good rotation and have been patient watching guys like Nova and Rey. Even Cease has been just mediocre while showing flashes of greatness. Nobody's saying anything negative about Cease. Sox fans actually deserve praise. Hahn or Renteria should praise the fans but that would prolly be throwing Coop under the bus.
  3. I'm a little surprised at the lack of excitement about Collins. He's the 10th pick of Round One for gosh sakes. Our scouts thought he was worthy of that and I'd assume a huge bonus. Play the guy ... and play him a lot next year. If he's a huge bust, somebody in scouting should be fired.
  4. Read some of the other posts. Not everybody agrees with the tanking philosophy and not everybody likes advanced stats and the reliance on HRs nowadays. Learn some patience, dissenters. Not everybody has to agree with you. Some of us have different viewpoints, such as El Rockin.
  5. Sox could use a 6-4-3 vs the lousy Tigers here.
  6. With the money the Cubs have it should never have taken a tank job to win their one WS title in a zillion years. They should be contending like the Yankees and Bo$ox -- every year.
  7. So you say tanking works all the time? I think it's needlessly painful for fans and an excuse for organizations to make a lot of cash. I hate tanking ... sorry. I think it's un-sportsmanlike. You are supposed to try to win.
  8. Coop is harmless. However think of the paying customer on a night you have to watch Covey or Nova or Detweier or some of those hack relievers? If you've had a few beers you might want to b**** on Twitter. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy to spend lots of time searching Twitter.
  9. Cmon. You have no great argument to back that up. Baseball needs to come up with some new rules to prevent tanking.
  10. He's so sensitive that his spouting off is funny more than tiresome or insulting. I mean cmon, Don. Show us the tweets. There isn't some massive tweet movement of angry sox fans blasting our pitching. There's not some internet movement to write angry stuff that would bother Coop. I did meet a huge Sox fan yesterday at a party BTW and I immediately asked him about Abreu. He LOVES Abreu and agreed the advanced statters who dislike him are nuts.
  11. Don't cuss, sir. That's unfair to them. They have tried their best as members of the Sox. They've been OK.
  12. Somebody's gotta have a plan regarding the pitching staff. We're not winning squat if our starters are as inconsistent as they were this season. Also our bullpen blows. It really does. It's Colome who is excellent and Bummer who I consider average.
  13. I have nothing against Madrigal. I'm just a bit surprised Sox fans who follow advanced stats want him. He's not gonna hit more than 5 homers. His stolen bases don't matter in modern baseball. Why do we like this guy in the era of HR or K?
  14. Is yolmer going to be out of baseball in 2020? He made 4.6 mill this season. Frankly, no other team is going to be clamoring to sign him. If the Sox offer 4.6 million he probably won't take it so he'll be a free agent and no one will sign him. Kind of a weird story. If I were Yolmer I'd take 3 million for one year to stay in Chicago. He could shuffle between AAA and MLB according to injury need. Pardon me if he's on arbitration. I did not see mention of that anywhere.
  15. He really has been great. I'm still a bit puzzled how the team can blow so badly with some sensational individual players. Moncada has a glove, folks. I like him better at 3B than 2B.
  16. The title of the thread needs to be changed to make a reasonable comment. Yoan's ship has sailed at 2B. He's 3B.
  17. Zack just said on postgame to Stoney he had the jitters his first go-round in the majors and now he's feeling great, no jitters. Folks, he's a human being. It's tough the first go-round in the bigs. I'll shut up soon but for a team that's rebuilding, there's no reason to not play Zack next year in his age 25 season for gosh sakes!! The guy is gonna be 25 next year meaning in baseball years he's got about five years left before age-ism sets in. PLAY ZACK! OK I'll stop before I get in trouble but you all must remember how I felt bout Zack when he busts loose.
  18. Surprised you guys are letting greg be the loudest voice in support of Collins on here. I'm anti tank but I want one of the key pieces to play. The eye test of greg says me likey Zack Collins! I'd think I'd have some support on here from the rebuild people.
  19. That at bat had a great outcome. But it's why baseball has jumped the shark. Terrible that that hitter would hit it right at Moncada! He had the WHOLE left side. Hilarious. GO SOX!
  20. It's Zack Collins time, baby. Absolutely no reason to not have him as No. 1 catcher in April. McCann is fine as a tutor to Zack.
  21. If you are trading Lopez, Rutherford and Collins, three major pieces in the tank/rebuild as well as Colome, one of the only reliable bullpen arms on the team ... seems like it's silly and you ought to just order quicksand for the outfield surface. You are just shuffling bodies around year after year. Might as well sink the franchise or move the team. At some point, win with the guys who you tanked for. Just give up cause it's obvious your team can't develop players if you are willing to trade 'em all.
  22. Frankly I don't know. It'll hit me one day if I don't care at all anymore. I know from the last several seasons I've been programmed to not care anymore if we beat the Royals or Cubs and I do not follow the standings anymore even in April and May as I've been conditioned to feel we are not going to contend. I do watch a lot of games on MLB and keep up with the daily box scores and know what's going on with every Sox player and could hold my own in a conversation about the White Sox and also what's coming up through the minors. I'm wondering how many of the regular Sox fans have totally lost track of everyday goings-on with the team or if they are keeping track waiting for better days which we have been told and in some cases seen are coming. The opener thing will really be annoying with baseball going with inane strategy stuff as early as the first inning. That will annoy me and maybe break me. I just read this: The average Major League Baseball fan is 53 years old; only 29 percent of MLB fans are between the ages of 18 and 34. It says 42 percent of Americans consider themselves MLB fans. 30 percent are women; average TV viewer is 53; 29 percent of fans are 18-34 years old; average household incomine is 96,000 bucks.
  23. I'm a big White Sox fan. I love the White Sox. I like to talk about the White Sox and read others' opinions about the White Sox. I got excited when we acquired Rutherford so sorry. p.s. I have a lot of problems with our team right now and baseball in general and have to sort through those to decide if I want to continue to care about the White Sox and baseball in general.
  24. Nice post. This proves people can have calm discussion on here.
