  1. Then if all this is true, the league should break up the White Sox and contract them. I mean there are examples of teams that also appear to have malfeasance with absolutely no desire to win (Bulls seem to be one of them) but if it's this blatantly obvious the Sox just don't want to win, why is the franchise in existence? At least all the teams in the Sox division besides the Sox have tried a tad to win and they all face the same limitations as the Sox. Your post says there's no hope til Jerry dies basically. This should not be allowed by MLB.
  2. Thought provoking. However I dunno. The Sox may be so dumb and misguided they think No. 10 is a nice draft pick to tank for. It's outrageous what is going on in the Sox organization. Is this team really going to do nothing to improve before April 1? Insanity.
  3. Sox aren't trying to win which should be against baseball's rules. Sox should be FINED A LOT of money for disrespecting the game of baseball. The team has no plan and is not trying to win. Reinsdorf should be so ashamed but he's not. Sad.
  4. That's why 'tank' is a four-letter word.
  5. I'd settle for 7 innings. Then you cut down so much on the dull parade of relievers and pitchers re-learn how to go seven. Starters W/L would be moderately interesting again and the role of the true closer might return as well as the set up guy. ... Here's how baseball dies. The defensive shifts continue. The pitchers only go through the lineup twice which means 4 innings max followed by a zillion relievers. I still think some teams will go with "openers" in the near future and just assume every game you'll need 7-9 pitchers. Dull.
  6. So we non tendered Sheets? I'd think somebody will sign him for about 4-5 million. If I were him I'd want a one-year deal and see if a change of scenery (coaches) helps him reach his alleged potential. I'd take a flyer on him. He may or may not be done yet but considering his status as a second-round pick he may deserve one more shot with his second team. ... Not to sound like Mr. Royals but I betcha KC will be interested if they deem he has some talent. They still need some outfielders who can hit.
  7. I'll stop responding now, but I'm surprised you don't at least throw him some flowers in your posts even tho you disagree with his stance on baseball. He's Goose Gossage.
  8. Not sure why you are devaluing Goose Gossage. You don't think he and Forster could have been outstanding starters? Gossage played forever I think for 9 teams. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball history and started with our White Sox.
  9. Tough crowd. He's in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He's not a failed anything.
  10. ask ptatc or listen to Goose. It's a flowing motion. Not this rear back and fire a 105 mph heater then bust off a cutter in the dirt. Or do the eyetest. Look at Nolan Ryan's gorgeous smooth delivery. Or look at Buehrle. Or Fergie. Or Bob Gibson highlights. p.s. BTW for those who agree with the tank philosophy look at this clip of the good ol days when the Sox could compete. Now just pencil in another 100 losses. Sad. I typed in Buehrle pitching motion and got this gem. I hope he makes the Hall of Fame though obviously he won't.
  11. By the way I know my Gossage love isn't unrequited on here but he makes some good points in that video about pitchers getting rid of the windup has led to injury. The windup is a comfortable motion. Maybe it takes a few mph off the fastball. So the tradeoff? Now pitchers can only go 5 or 6 max as they whizz their 101 mph fastballs. Old days they throw 95 in beautiful diferent types of windups that made the art of starting pitching fun. Baseball pitchers are no longer fun. They are 100 mph pitching machines. Sad. Please bring back the windup. Watch Gary Peters. Watch Bob Gibson. Watch Fergie Jenkins. Watch Nolan Ryan a gorgeous windup. Please. And explain to me why you think I'm wrong again.
  12. I was just thinking if we're not going to compete, just pitch all our prospects one or two innings at a time. We'll still win 40 games. We proved last year you can win 40 and change just by showing up every day.
  13. This board has been around so long I remember the days Dye and Avi Garcia both had serious detractors on here with me standing up for them a lot.
  14. Are the Sox really going to trade Crochet? I assume whoever they get won't be ready for 2-3 years? I'm just wondering if we're only gonna win between 40 and 50 games again in 2025. I won't make any predictions until late January when it's obvious the roster is complete. Say what you want but taking Crochet out of the mix isn't exactly going to help the team in its pursuit of 50 wins. ... If the Sox are continuing the tank, I'd think they'd just want to have all openers who go two innings max followed by a parade of one-inning guys. If the goal is not to win why would they risk injury to any pitcher? Just have 'em all go 2 innings max and showcase their repertoire all season. Our staff isn't exactly going to be made up of proven guys. p.s. If they do want to trade Robert I would think they'd wait til the trade deadline to see if he gets good again. His value can't be too high after that mediocre season he had. 35 RBI and a .224 BA in the old days was Ken Berry-like (good field no hit) not Willie Mays-like.
  15. I can't believe the fake news about my fandom. I tried to learn about the Cubs a little bit in April and May to see if they could catch my interest. They failed to. As I still can't name you one Cub starting pitcher or anybody except the SS whose name I can't even remember right now. Meanwhile I know all about only one team's personnel, the Sox. As far as the Royals, I went to two games in the Yankee series and watched some of the Yankees the rest of the way so I now know a little about the Royals and the Yankees personnel. You guys can't accept I'm a lifelong Sox fan and living in KC area have been in so many 'fights' defending the Sox vs. the Royals. As far as the Cubs, except as a kid when my grandfather (the only Cub fan in my family) took me to a ton of games I've not followed them at all. I'm even one who as a kid preferred Sox games with my dad over Cub games with grandpa because of the exploding scoreboard and the general joy I got in Comiskey. I didn't mind Wrigley but it wasn't Comiskey. Give greg a break on the fandom issue. As fathom knows I used to freak on here when the Sox lost to KC and/or the Cubs. That's when the Sox were good enough to care whether they won or lost an individual game/series. Now they are so bad it doesn't matter. Give me Pete Ward or give me death. Peace.
  16. Folks you've got to watch Goose Gossage, the Hall of Famer discuss pitcher injuries on here and the babying of players!!! Goose has it right. Great post, kitekrazy.
  17. Thanks White Sox 2023. I feel so many times nobody credits me for credible posts and I was right there on that one. That's why I didn't buy mlb.com. Amazing how people won't give credit and you did. Thank u! The post you cited should put as the first member of the Soxtalk.com Posters Hall of Fame! Go Bro Rice in the Prep Bowl playoffs if indeed they are in them.
  18. I think he went 3-for-3 the game I attended in the Yankee playoff series. He looked like he had a clue while most Royals hitters were abysmal.
  19. I meant Pham. He was hitterish for KC in the playoffs. I woulda brought Pham back at 4 mill a year over Slater. Why not? Give Pham and Abreu 500 bats apiece if u sign Abreu for starters. Jose isn't gonna command more than the minimum salary either. And if the Sox go for 120 losses again he can be the guy who tells it like it is in the clubhouse saying that's unacceptable to not give 100 percent.
  20. This is identical to acquiring Tommy Pham. Frankly after looking hitterish in the playoffs, I'd rather get Pham back than Slater. Slater is a typical Sox acquisition. He's a guy. But so is Pham and we already like Pham a bit so bring him back and dump Slater please.
  21. I swear I don't make many political posts anymore cause I learned my lesson on here. For you to remember I like Rogan and Maher is very interesting/intriguing/impressive. It says greg's posts can be thought-provoking which can be valuable to a message board discussion.
  22. I was taught how to reason in debate class. My assertion can be supported with facts. Assertion: Are Bears gonna fire the coach again and will they go after Deion before others grab him like the Cowboys? Facts supporting the topic: a.) Bears go through head coaches as often as it snows in Chicago in winter. b.) Deion has been tied to both FSU and the Cowboys. c.) Heaven forbid the Bears make a popular move on the head coaching front (if they must axe yet another coach. You act like my post was some out of this universe wacky post that is as ridiculous as believing a 58-year old Tyson could defeat a 28-year-old Paul. Nothing's wrong with my thinking of this topic; nothing's wrong with my facts backing up my topic. Geez. Give a greg a break once in a while. Thank u.
  23. If we have to fire yet another Bears coach why not grab Deion before Florida State or the Cowboys? Do a google and all you'll see are "hot seat" stories on Bears coach.
  24. Are the Bears going to have to fire another head coach ... again?? If so hire Deion Sanders. Case closed. Glory days return FINALLY. He won't stand for front office incompetence and bad QB play baby.
  25. Not a bad plan. Or sign Jose and keep Vaughn. They can split time playing 1B and DHing. Get rid of Sheets, not Vaughn. I think this could work out. Jose must be lifting and pulling again if he has 4 homers. And Vaughn like it or not is our best hitter. Yikes.
