  1. You think Lopez will be one of the many starter prospects Sox have that ultimately will be a setup or closer? Does he project to be as 7-8 inning dominant as Gio and Kopech and Cease and guys like that?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 05:57 AM) Just the bringing up of the topic with the A______________N word and the President can trigger a Secret Service investigation, whether it's an online message board or not. Obviously, they have to quickly determine if there's a direct and tangible/realistic threat, but it's in that same category like "bomb/terrorist" anywhere around an airport/plane and "fire" in a crowded building or theatre. I killed my original post and if there's a problem i hope everybody kills their responses. Nobody is more peaceful and God loving than me.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 05:41 AM) You've been posting here for years and we've gone to battle many times. I'll give you credit, your "logic" continues to amaze me. Individual performance is literally the only reason to watch this team, and the Front Office would tell you the same thing. I contend though that if we are 10 games out of first at the end of next April, individual performance means very little. How can a player give optimal performance when the team is that bad? It has to affect the little things in your approach. Why move a runner when it doesn't matter? Just swing from the heels and try to homer. The young studs will put in the time and get used to pitching and hopefully do well enough. My point is, all that training will be put to the test when we are projected to be a good team. On April 1 of that season, whenever it is, is when the can't miss guys like Moncada, Robert, Eloy, etc., begin their trial periods. When it matters. I'm not saying Moncada can hit .111 and management will be satisfied but none of it really matters til the team is projected to be a contender. Then the apprenticeship is ova.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 03:09 AM) Wow greg, I think you finally crossed the line. Wow man. Did u see Big Hurtin's post? He didn't threaten him but called the man garbage. These are emotional times.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) The Royals will be blowing up their team unless ownership signs a bunch of dudes to ill advised contract extensions. Somebody's gonna pay Hosmer, Moustakas, Escobar and Cain? The question is which team(s)? KC will keep Escobar and either Hosmer/Moustakas I predict.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Dude chill the f*** out. He has ridiculous physical tools and the numbers in the minors to back it up. Does that mean he's going to be the player we all hope? Of course not. But writing him off after a month in the majors is beyond ridiculous. I agree about the physical tools. I can be critical but I'm convinced he'll be a star. The team blows so badly I don't know why anybody would be concerned about any individual performances. Right now is not any type of audition. The audition comes on Opening Day of whatever season we are planning on contending. Until then, who gives a f*** how any individual does? Moncada is just as huge a prospect now as he was a month ago in the minors. His physical tools make him a dynamic prospect like Rowand said.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 09:42 PM) My bad if you just simply used the wrong word. I got the impression you were under some illusion that the White Sox might actually try to compete next year. No this time I simply meant "since" it's a rebuilding year it'd be neat to have Kemp lead off all year.
  8. Awful. Sad. Terrible. Heartbreaking.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:48 PM) You said "if" next year is a throw away year. There's no if involved here whatsoever. Simple semantics, no need for you to freak out. I should have put "since" instead of it. My bad.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:06 PM) lol, why? Who cares. I just like to see how they are doing now that they escaped GRate Field and the Sox zoo so to speak. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:13 PM) You are more than welcome to. I said "I wish." I can wish can't I? QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) This post is just great. Sums up how greg's brain works perfectly. What's wrong with wanting Kemp in a throwaway year? Throwaway means losing year. Everybody said we're gonna lose next year. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) I thought about making this its own topic: cratering the bullpen is a genius method of tanking. The bullpen is not only the most easily fixed component on the next good Sox team, it's also the area you can stack losses (like last night) while some of your younger guys show out like Rodon, Leury and Delmonico did. Just more credit to Hahn really. I don't know if I'd "credit" Hahn for this. But you are right. Cratering the bullpen does assure losing. However ... he'd have gotten rid of all the starters too if anybody wanted Holland, Pelphrey or Miguel. Having no starters works too. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:36 PM) You just get denser every year. THE SOX WILL SUCK NEXT YEAR!!! GET OVER IT! I know. That's why I said throwaway year. What do u think throwaway year means? Why can't a guy like Kemp lead off for a year? He intrigues me. Lot of pop and minor league production for a little guy.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) Yesterday: Today is the bottom of this Presidency Today: Today is the bottom of this Presidency Tomorrow: Today is the bottom of this Presidency I don't think Trump has expressed himself very well the last few days. I think Kasisch is right. He's trying to win an argument basically. He's sort of turned into the mean version of Greg on this board. "By gawd some of those people (white surpremists) are good people; by gawd I like statues. They are just statues. You can learn from history." In other words like me he has his stern opinions but doesn't always express himself correctly the first time so keeps trying to win the argument and bury himself more. He should just resign though. Stern is right. he hates being president. He made his point. Now give it to Kasisch (damn that's illegal; Pence has to take over).
  12. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 06:01 PM) I would be fine if I never heard the Sox and Astros speculated as trading partners again the future. The process with them is fatiguing. Great post, Lamar. We need to see more of your posts IMO. I have been intrigued by that Kemp guy. We should make sure he's the player to be named. Throw in Miguel to make sure it's Kemp. If next year is another throwaway year I wouldn't mind seeing that Kemp guy lead off.
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Why is the removal of statues considered changing history? Trump realizes those people still exist in history if their monument is removed, right? In things called...books? Trump obviously is a statue guy the way he kept calling 'em beautiful. I personally never was intrigued by them. Never have stopped to read the little explanations underneath statues. Some people love statues. He's obviously one of 'em. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Surprised he would support statues of legit losers. See above take. He obviously loves statues. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:44 PM) It's shocking how many people still can't accept that they lost the Civil War. Nothing about it is American, what they're honoring is American traitors. We should get a Benedict Arnold statute to put with them, too. Good post. It's probably good timing to yank down the statues if we're going to do it, in immediate response to the white supremist losers who held that violent rally in Virginia. It'd be nice if more of them got fired from their jobs. The KKK morons wear those hoods cause they want to keep their jobs; amazing how the white supremists figured they are emboldened by Trump, so they did that rally without masks/hoods and several of 'em are getting burned by getting fired. Let's fire some more of 'em. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) Didn't you know? (white) American values are under attack! People must fight back before they are extinct. White supremists are sickos, no doubt about it. At this time I don't like to copy Trump and say both sides were bad. But my positions on the BLM people who impose their will on people in libraries, etc., aren't angels either. I was in the car the other day and listening to the Beatles channel on Sirius and enjoyed listening to Lennon's songs about peace.
  14. I wish some poster would make a thread that tracks how all of our former players are doing. I watched Robertson get a save last night. I haven't heard much about any of the former Sox now on other teams. It would be cool to have day to day updates on each of them.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 11:19 PM) Three way tie for second wild card. Actually, Mariners just went ahead by 1/2 game. One of two teams with longer playoff-less streak than Sox. Royals are wasting a big year out of Moustakas. Who would have thought bullpen and starting pitching would be keeping KC mired in mediocrity? The tragic death of Ventura really decimated that team for now and probably years to come. Took away quite a 1-2 punch in Ventura/Duffy. Still such a sad story. I don't follow the minor leagues much at all. I know the Royals are considered to be out of talent down there. But the question is do they have a handful of pitching/hitting prospects who will be good that their future is still reasonable? I figure they'll probably keep Hosmer, Cain and Escobar and lose Moustakas. I guess they could lose both Hosmer/Moustakas if the Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers want those guys bad enough.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Anxious to see him after a full offseason healthy, has ace potential still, seems like his floor is a #2 if he can stay healthy Kopech-Rodon-Giolito-Lopez-Hansen 2019 By then Rodon and Lopez will be seasoned starters. Hopefully they will be as good as Sale/Q. Then Kopech, Giolito and Hansen (couldn't it be Cease by then instead of Hansen) will be so much better than Shields, Gonzalez and Holland and the Sox should be set IF they get a good bullpen. A bad bullpen nowadays coupled with bad defense means a noncontending team.
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 06:22 AM) LOL No, it's a request to have some semblance of competence on this team. It's a reasonable request. Some people still get mad at losses like last night. Sox are in tank mode. I'm sure Green Sox realizes it but it still can be frustrating to see your team blow games like that.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) It does appear he is coming out of his fog. He's definitely done better of late. Last night he almost got another home run. It was close. I think he's going to be all right. He's probably never going to have a good batting average because of his lack of walks, but a lot of players nowadays don't walk. Salvador Perez gets nothing but praise and he won't walk. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 03:40 AM) Which means that if anyone in the bullpen actually comes in and saves a game, he will be gone before the sun comes up. I share you angst oldsox. I like reading criticism now and then to go with all the sunshine. The current bullpen is not even a good minor league bullpen.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 12:20 AM) That's completely false greg. You keep saying that many of these prospects are can't miss and you are certain they will be great major leaguers. That's 100% blind faith in the front office and their ability to identify and develop talent I think they are can't miss. But I also don't profess to be right all the time. That's why I need to see the results in stats and the team's W/L column. I still would not have gone this way of total rebuild so that means I don't trust the front office. Of all the prospects the Sox got who are real prospects, I think the only "busts" could be Burger and I guess 1-2 of the pitchers could get hurt. Obviously a guy like Polo could stink and some of those type guys we got, but they were not the huge parts of the deals. I see greatness for most of em, certainly Eloy, Robert and Rutherford in the OF; Burger could bust; Gillaspie could bust sure; stardom for TA and Moncada and Abreu. Stardom for Collins and stardom for all the starters maybe with the exception of Fulmer. Those pitchers we got all have good to great fastballs and that prevents them from busting unless they get hurt. Unlike some posters I reserve the right to blast Hahn and the scouts if these guys stink even though at this time I give this group of prospects a thumbs up toward being a division contending title team (if we also fill in the holes with a few vets). No way I trust the front office though. Not yet. Don't worry I will give Mr. Hahn kudos if we, as expected, get very good.
  20. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 05:17 AM) We won't be bad for long. Define "long." Hopefully Sox will be good the last six weeks of the 2018 season.
  21. This sub .200 s*** probably is good for Moncada. It's obvious he is a physical specimen and you'd think his early struggles should help his mental frame of mind. If he's a competitor maybe it'll humble him up if he needs that and he'll be better for it. You probably need to trust your coaches in this game. Don't know anything about him personally but struggling early during a meaningless season could wind up helping him.
  22. Doesn't matter. We're conceding games with this current bullpen so chalk up another L. Again ... fathom could get a hit off several of our bullpen guys at this time. Who cares? L.
  23. I do like Bennetti, but he's killing poor Rowand with all the questions and jokes tonight.
  24. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Understand =/= agree with. I wholeheartedly disagree with greg's viewpoint, and, as I stated, think his grading is shortsighted and asinine. That said, the concept of his argument is not a difficult one to grasp. Thanks. I'll take it when somebody understands the concept. At least it proves I'm not trolling.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) What does amuse me is the blind faith people are putting in this front office. Not me.
