  1. Who was it that Hahn ate some decent amount of money (by White Sox standards) to release a guy a few years ago...and praised JR for allowing him to do it? Can't remember who it was though...
  2. Also, what are they negotiating at this point? An extension to play at the Rate? Or a new ballpark?
  3. So this businessman who lives in Chicagoland is going to purchase an MLB team at a value that would fit a major market team...and instantly devalue it by moving to a smaller market? Jerry isn't selling the club at a small market price so Ishbia will be over-paying for the club...won't believe these rumors until it happens (which I doubt is even under legitimate consideration).
  4. I get the urge to grade on a curve...but Getz knew the situation better than any of us...and took the job why? Just for the money and prestige or because he thought he had a plan? If he had a plan, he is entering his 3rd off-season with no card in his hand that will get him 2, 3 or 4 kids we feel "good" about (Crochett card)! I am thrilled we went younger this season...but 2 of those younger kids are someone elses kids (which is fine, it is how the sport works). So with no card like the Crochett card...who is being developed that will show up and have us excited about getting even younger? Smith and Schultz? Maybe...I hope so! But yikes unless those two figure something out in the off-season or spring training!
  5. F...as said...102 losses! Imagine just a few years ago thinking that 100+ losses is ANYTHING but an F! That is how low the bar has been set...so sad and frustrating!
  6. I hope so...and yet it amazes me that a .239 hitter gets so much praise! When I was young...Colson's numbers would remind me of a Rob Deer type hitter...which is OK...but not a phenom!
  7. No kidding...but when Jason B wanted to miss x number of games...it was "c ya"! UGH...
  8. The Padres booth is great...informative and an enjoyable listen!
  9. I have no idea if he is a good guy or a bad guy but he is a horrible fit for the White Sox! I hope they make a change!
  10. Point #7: I am just asking a question about this...not arguing whether one is right or wrong. Can't the issue of a sale prior to the death of an owner be taken care of by the purchaser paying a higher price for the team? I have no idea about this type of level of transaction but if Jerry is concerned about losing money by selling prior to death can't he just ask a higher price than the value of the team? Maybe if a prospective owner wanted the team that badly they would then overpay and Jerry would come out even? Or is the "penalty" for selling prior to death so substantial that this idea wouldn't remotely make sense?
  11. I am one minute into it...and already have tears streaming down my face while smiling ear to ear! Thanks for posting this link!
  12. Advertised? 3 months ago he looked like a bust! He hadn't lived up to his draft status at all...Frank dominated from day 1 in professional ball. And...as much as I enjoy watching Colson play and hope we have an "anchor" going forward...his poor start in professional ball will always be stuck in my head as a caution to get too excited!
  13. But...it is possible to strike-out 20 and still lose the game.
  14. I have become a larger HOF guy of late as well to a limit. I love Harold Baines...was my favorite MLB player until Frank came around...and the HOF dust-up his selection caused was unfortunate because he truly is an HOFer as a person so it hurt to watch "attacks" on his worthiness. That said...if you are doing side-by-sides of HOF status...Harold Baines' resume is almost identical to Andre Dawson's! Minus the MVP (which is great but has relative meaning when doing a year-to-year analysis) and SBs...Baines is every bit as worthy of HOF membership as Andre Dawson is! Yet...not much push back at all when Dawson got in!
  15. THIS! Bingo! If Sammy wasn't listening to Hriniak...it is another stupid decision on Sammy's part! Frank still RAVES about Hriniak...which "generational" talent showed they had some work ethic along with the desire to be great?!
  16. Honest question...why are the Twins in debt so much? Did they finance their newer ballpark?
  17. Aaaaaand...it isn't as simple as stacking blocks on top of each other. There are tunnels and tombs on different levels in there...extremely complicated! And...there were many failed attempts at building pyramids in that era.
  18. He likely would have been buying their debt along with the team...right?
  19. Respectfully...why not? It isn't like he will be new to the situation. He knows more than we do what is going on. I would be shocked if he doesn't have a plan in mind already for what he wants to do and what it will cost. And millions would likely be on the smaller end of the expenditures...
  20. I can't believe MLB.TV even invited him on as a guest...
  21. Pedro Grifol is a great mention...because his face alone represents the embarrassment this organization produced from the moment he was hired to this very current day! He is not responsible for it...not all of it at least...but he will forever be linked with the most embarrassing stretch of baseball for our beloved organization! So: Pedro Jerry Tony (v.2) and...hmmm...wish I could think of a 4th that would represent a different era...but with this clown show of late it is hard to find a person who lived "down" to this standard!
  22. I feel the same way...BUT...all 3 of my boys already talked me into ordering some of the new stuff. I have a feeling this new look would sell big-time! I am glad we are keeping the Southside uniform in the rotation as it ranks up there with the best!
  23. I would love to see that happen...however, love Paul Skenes but if these awards are a popularity contest...people like Jackson Merrill (who had a helluva rookie season) finish behind the beauty queen. Is Chase a beauty queen or a very solid ballplayer? I know those questions aren't answered yet...but I think it would take an INCREDIBLE year for him to win that award.
  24. This is a good take! When people read about Jerry's "kids taking over" or whatever...how old are Jerry's kids? I am guessing they are at or around retirement age themselves? Jerry isn't passing this down to some 25 year old who needs to build a future! I understand that one generation would likely want to continue to pass that stability down...but Jerry's kids are not "kids"!
