  1. Good lord, Getz truly is an embarrassment. He’s the perfect GM for Jerry’s thrifty ways and his pathetic team.
  2. I guess I was overdoing it by including Sale. But I think he has big tall lanky lefty ace potential, like Crochet.
  3. He’s at #16 on the 2017 list, but I don’t know the timing/date of this list in 2017.
  4. I actually do think it will be a massive disappointment if Schultz doesn’t somewhat follow in the footsteps of Sale and Crochet. I think it will be due to injury if he doesn’t succeed.
  5. He was ranked as high as #11 in the MLB’s top 100 prospects. I agree there were some ref flags but a prospect with a ranking that high is usually expected to be an ace. https://www.milb.com/news/yoan-moncada-michael-kopech-headed-to-futures-game-239471812 EDIT: He was actually ranked #10 in 2018.
  6. Kenny and Hahn were master shovelers for years. They had the biggest and best plows in the shoveling business.
  7. In hindsight, yes. But at the time of the Sale trade, Kopech was supposed to be the super ace. Also, if Abreu is involved in a Crochet trade, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the headliner and none of the additional prospects the Sox receive in addition are from the Red Sox top 4.
  8. 5 years of control rather than 6 from a top prospect. Already turning 26 in June. Obviously he can improve but right now he’s a just under .800 OPS guy. Fairly high strikeout rate. Definitely a nice player but the Sox need to hit on a star, or at least closer to a star than Abreu.
  9. It was a “Player Development Affiliate Intern” job posting on FanGraphs… https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-chicago-white-sox-player-development-affiliate-intern-3/
  10. No specific Crochet mention, but more talk about the Red Sox trading Wilyer Abreu…
  11. It’s on there. You just can’t see it due to the angle of his left hand. If you zoom in, you can see it. Also, from his Wikipedia page:
  12. Very nice on quantity but where’s the HBK, the SHOWSTOPPA?!? I need someone better than Crawford to be that guy in a Crochet trade. Abel walks the world and Arroyo is tiny like Dominic Fletcher. Tait and Peete are so young, who knows which way they go?
  13. To get 3 potential average to above average position players for 2 years of Crochet would be amazing. I’m guessing when all is said and done (in a few years), we won’t be able to say that with whatever Crochet trade actually does go down.
  14. Agreed. It’s Newsweek reciting some Fansided author’s article here. https://fansided.com/1-trade-every-al-east-team-improve-postseason-chances
  15. His strikeouts stayed high but his hits (and HR), walks, and ERA all did jump up in the second half. Is that all due to BAbip?
  16. I definitely didn’t like it. Fedde was terrible in the majors with the Nationals and I thought he would suck here. Definitely Getz’s best acquisition to date, which he then blew by dealing him with Kopech for Vargas as a headliner. 😔
  17. Do they still exist? I thought they were all outed as fake insiders.
  18. But it would free up a ton more payroll. Just imagine who Jerry would let Getz sign with all of that freed up money.
  19. Someone has to carry on the tradition.
  20. I heard he hurt his back from doing the Macarena, or whatever this is…
  21. That would be a bit surprising, not that I think they currently have a better option. But they should still find one. Agreed. If this happens, it will be for all the wrong reasons — a strong showing in the AFL and upcoming Spring Training. He should have to start in AAA and prove that 2024 was just a down year. But like you said, a lack of options and probably some cheapness on Jerry’s part means this could actually happen.
  22. I never said Taylor could be flipped for a haul. I said that I thought there were better fliers to take a chance on than some of the players Getz acquired last offseason. I also wanted Getz to go after Joey Bart and Victor Robles during the season when they were made available via DFA, but he passed. However, I do remember when @greg775, yes @greg775, owned you last Spring Training. See the screenshot evidence below. Game, set, match, old chap… 😘
  23. I think the rotation can still be good but they are definitely going to rob from Peter [Crochet] to pay Paul [position player prospects]. But Schultz, Smith, Thorpe, Taylor, Cannon, and others can still be a solid rotation. But unless Getz knocks the Crochet trade out of the park, some young guys step up, and the Sox nail their drafts going forward, I still don’t see where they are going to come up with the lineup. Jerry isn’t going to spend in free agency.
