Agreed. No one expected this so it’s a nice treat but I doubt anyone thinks this team will go deep into the playoffs if they make it. Their rotation is weak but they can’t mortgage the future for a chance to chase an unrealistic WS this year.

Exactly. Hagen Smith is walking 6.23 batters per 9 innings in AAA. Anyone want to see how many batters he would walk in the majors right now? Dude would get his s%*# pushed in. I wouldn’t make that proposed trade but Hagen Smith wouldn’t be an improvement to the rotation this season like Detmers would be. Afterall, we are already seeing the rookie struggles with Noah Schultz

Wishful thinking. Some team will offer more than a post-hype no bat utility man with no options left nearing 25 years old for Webb. Regardless, I don’t even think the Sox will be interested in Webb due to the money remaining on his deal. They aren’t paying Webb more money for the next 2+ years than they did for Murakami. Remember, Jerry still owns the team over the next 2 years. If they acquire a starter, it will be a much cheaper guy than Webb.

Yep, the propane tank hangs on a hook on the right side and is hidden by two steel panels, front and rear. You can access and see it from the right side of the grill, right by where the grilling utensils are hanging.

Well, we all had visions of great starting pitching depth, but then the injuries struck… as they almost always do for the Sox.

He did a great job with Tristan Peters. He also did a great job with acquiring Vargas, who I was very wrong about. But what I said is still true. He still burns $30 million each offseason on crappy free agents. But that’s pretty much free agency for you unless you are going after the no brainer top talent, or getting luck with fliers like Peters.
