http://www.complex.com/blogs/2008/01/22/an...or-emelianenko/ at the bottom of the interview says Fedor will fight next in Chicago for M-1's first U.S. show. I've been hearing some rumors about this, including his brother is going to fight Josh Barnett. Would be interested to see where this is, would definitely go if tickets were somewhat reasonable

obviously not a new show, but HBO Zone is reshowing Oz M-F at 10:00 p.m. central. That was an excellent show.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 02:04 AM) love my beagle I had one growing up, mine was phenomenal with young kids. If he ever got annoyed he would just go under a bed or somewhere kids couldn't get him.

Noah Lowry/Matt Cain (for some reason?)

http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cainma01.shtml extremly solid SP IMO. If the Sox can land him it would be a good addition. Even his ERA+, which is ball-park adjusted was 22 points above average last year -
Chicago- Born and raised here, it will always be my favorite San Diego- Weather is great, ton of stuff to do there and the women are absolutely off the charts there Las Vegas- Love it!

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) So I thoroughly enjoyed UFC 80. Whether it was Penn making Stevenson bleed like a faucet, or Gonzaga losing another one. Maybe the fact that it was all knockouts. I'm hoping Penn runs through Sherk in their matchup. I enjoyed it too. No classic fights, but KOs galore and the the Penn/Stevenson blood bath was something to see. Really looking forward to see what Lesnar can do against Mir, Mir is potentially a top tier fighter (was once HW champ, had a horrific motorcycle accident, see if he can completely bounce back). The Big Nog/Sylvia fight is something I'm also anxious to see

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,6339882.story seems like an odd story, especially since they're comparing it to the comments about Tiger Woods. Anybody know what she said?

Helena Bonham-Carter (sp?) was robbed IMO, she was fantastic in Sweeney Todd

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3195926 Looks like the NYY have pulled back again.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) That makes no sense at all. The Yankees were pursuing Cameron, but didn't want to pony up for both Cameron and Santana? What, is Cameron getting $20 million next year? Whoever wrote that is just off their rocker. lol, that was my exact reaction. Wouldn't Santana be making something reasonable next year anyway? Any extension should kick in at the start of '09

A few weeks ago I had heard on one of the talk shows that the Twins would prefer to deal him to the NL, just less haunting potential there.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) This sounds a little more like it... Brian Roberts Cubs Rumors UPDATE, 1-9-08 at 6:06pm: WGN Radio's Dave Kaplan checked in on this situation on his blog. He has "great sources" saying the price for Roberts is much higher than was previously reported. The Orioles want Rich Hill, Felix Pie, or Tyler Colvin. Hill is known to be off-limits. FWIW 670 was basically supporting this on their 7:00 update. Saying that the O's want a lot for him, and for now there's nothing that close.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 3, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) How about: .921 OPS vs LHP in 2007 1.022 OPS @ The Cell (Career) I read it right! KW definitely is trying to address the issue of our brutal record against LHPs with this move.
-
If I'm reading his splits against LHP correctly, this is an excellent move by KW

Saw Sweeney Todd last night, I loved it. It is extremely bloody, so if you're taking a friend who is squemish I would give them a heads up. I saw the revival on Broadway in 2006 with Pati LuPone and thought it was every bit as entertaining. They did a good job expanding the limitations from the stage. The cast was great. Bohnem-Carter (sp?) especially stood out, she was phenomenal.

Solid card on Saturday night, St. Pierre/Hughes III for the interim WW belt, Iceman/Wand in a much anticipated match-up and Machida/Sokoudjou in a match where the winner will be a top contender at 205 (Sokoudjou in his last 2 fights in PRIDE knocked out Arona and Lil' Nog)

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 09:31 AM) I agree. If I sign Prior though I insist on an option, then if he pans out you can trade him next offseason or before the 09 deadline. If not you both walk away at the end of 08. With the arms that we have returning in the rotation we are going to need someone who can come in and spell one of the starters or likely take one of the rotation spots if someone does not live up to expectations, which is a likelihood between Floyd, Danks, and Contreras. If you can sign him for I imagine there's some posters from page 1 who are having heart attacks right now

I think the Mets, Yankees and Red Sox will bid each other up to keep him away from other teams, and he'll get a ton of cash to sit out at least until May

The next big mystery in Chicago sports...

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 12:15 PM) She backed off rookie and said younger. didn't she add something indicating he was from the south? With the store feature I'm able to listen to about 90% of the show, but didn't get the whole interview, so I'm just going off when they talked about it later in the show -
What I heard is the report will be posted at 2 p.m. eastern at MLB.com and Mitchell will have a press conference at the same time. Then Selig will have one after that, topped off by the MLB players union later in the day. I'm interested to see what it says. Early reports have it placing blame on the union and MLB as a whole for allowing a drug culture to exist. It wouldn't be the appropriate venue, but I hope in the fallout, someone takes the media to task as well. They just turned an absolute blind eye to the problem in the late 90's and some hide behind the "how could we know" b.s. 80 isn't really a ton of names considering a lot could fringe MLB players. The most interesting thing would be if it laid out a ton of big names, and the scrambling ESPN would do to protect certain franchises

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) I assume it was Lisa Lapanelli (sp?) on the Howard Stern show stating that she slept with a young, black non-starter on the Bears when the team was in Phillie who has/had an ankle injury? Not sure who I think other details are rookie and light skined african-american -
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3151849 if I was missing another thread mods, please merge Not sure about the players going to the O's, I know KW was hot after him for awhile and claimed him off waivers, but I remember hearing he was done pursuing him

There's an Irish bar inside New York New York that I love to have a few beers in when I'm out there

QUOTE(max power @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 02:37 AM) Weak. So we don't get to see rampage fight until when? June? He has a broken hand, so he wasn't going to fight until the spring at the earliest from what I heard. I imagine with the Serra injury making an interim WW belt, Sherk getting stripped of his belt due to testing positive and being upheld in CA, and the mess that is the Coture situation, Dana prefered to keep the belt on Rampage, promote him with TUF and sort out the contenders below him over the next 6-8 months
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 01:43 AM) Any one hear what it was? My tivo cut off. Griffin is one of the TUF coaches for Season 7. The other will be announced tomorrow on the Video Game Awards. White said Griffin was the #1 contender, then later said he would fight the other coach, so I'm guessing it will be Rampage
