  1. Of all places, it's shocking that Communist China can't enforce eminent domain on this dude. Hilarious.
  2. I guess it's not a reality show per se, but there's a dating show (don't ask me what channel it's on or what it's called) where there's a chick and three male suitors. One of the dudes is straight and single, one straight and in a relationship, and the third is gay and in a relationship. The lady has to guess which is which. Conceptually and in practice it's pretty entertaining. Hulk's show is entertaining. Beauty and the Geek is pretty good. I'd probably never turn any of these shows on myself but if the lady is watching it I'll join her.
  3. Albany, YOU'RE KILLIN ME!!!! And the game I had the most trouble picking of any first round matchup was UNLV-GA Tech. I waffled over that SOB forever and ended up going with Tech. Looks like that is gonna bite me in the ass too.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) What browser are you using? IE was doing that for me...I could only get it to work on firefox. I was using Camino, but I just switched to Safari and it works. Thanks. Camino kinda sucks; I got it because I love Firefox and it's Mozilla's more Mac-friendly version of Firefox.
  5. I'm getting nothing. My waiting room meter has remained non-functional for about 3 hours. I guess I'm missing an extension or something (I'm using Camino) but I was looking forward to enjoying some ball at work. Larry Bird doesn't do as much ball-handling in one night as I do in an hour. gratuitous John Candy quotez 4-eva
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) You don't need a slingbox to watch the MLB.tv product through the TV. If your computer or laptop has S-Video, you can hook it directly to the TV. Do you have any idea the difference in picture quality between MLB.tv and slinging games from someone's house in Chicago? (Boz I think you said you had DirecTV so maybe you don't...) Or does anyone have any experience with a Slingbox? If the picture quality's the same between the two, then screw MLB. I'm not gonna give them $100 annually or whatever it is for MLB.tv after their screwing of the fans. If the quality of slinged video is decent and I can get all Sox, Bulls and Bears games via a Slingbox for a one time fee of $250, that's the option I'm going for.
  7. Does anyone have knowledge about the Slingbox option? If I have my Dad hook it up to an unused cable box in Chicago, will he still be able to watch whatever he wants on any other TV in the house? And is the quality I'll get from a Slingbox connection over the internet going to be any better than I'd get from the MLB.tv package over the internet? This is such a downer.
  8. For the Wilco fans out there, they're streaming the new album tonight only at: www.wilcoworld.net/sbs/ It's pretty mellow from what I've heard thus far, moreso than anything else they're put out.
  9. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) ...And "The Weather Man" "Family Man" "City of Angels" "National Treasure" "Snake Eyes" just to name a few. ...and Raising Arizona. He's definitely been in some decent flicks.
  10. Is this really that abnormal? It's gross and all, and I'm glad I don't have to see it, but I'm sure most restaurants have intermittent problems with rodents. Then again I'm a Taco Bell apologist.

    Roomba

I've got one and while it works decently (well, not anymore), it's not that remarkable. It tends to get caught in things like curtains, rugs, and furniture, which causes it to cry to be set free. Now something's wrong with it and it won't run for more than 3 seconds. It probably needs a new battery but I was never happy enough with it to look into fixing it which is telling. We mostly got it to keep hardfloors clean because sweeping sucks, but we still had to sweep after it. If you let it run a cycle daily, it will probably do a decent job for you, but don't set your expectations too high.
  12. I recently bought a 56" Samsung DLP and I love the thing. While that style of HDTV may not be for everyone, I strongly recommend purchasing from amazon.com. I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Their price beat Best Buy's by $330, plus free shipping with 'white glove' delivery and no sales tax. I had the thing in my living room 1 week after placing the order just in time for the Superbowl, and they even disposed of the box and all the packaging for me. Don't hesitate to buy from them just because it's a big ticket item from something other than a brick-and-mortar store.
  13. It's not clear whether it was a lowball offer or whether this changes anything but looks like Buehrle turned down an extension offer at the break last year. I guess he didn't see his awful second half in the near future. Then again, maybe he saw this offseason's contracts on the horizon. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  14. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) I can't think of a single team outside of Oakland and Minnesota that has successfully competed every year while always building for the future. It is NOT an easy task and even those teams have yet to reach their ultimate goal. What about Atlanta? I think they're a better comparison for us than Oakland and Minnie, and KW has stated on numerous occasions that the system Scheurholz runs is his model. They've got a top 30% payroll year in-year out, a great pitching coach (well, until he left), and consistently make trades with both the present and future in mind. They're always competitive, but don't ever seem to get it done. It's tough for me to decide whether I'd prefer to be a fan of a team like the Braves who are competitive every year but never good enough to get over the top, or a fan of the Marlins who mix in a championship with a whole bunch of ass seasons. One difference between KW and Scheurholz is the latter seems to prefer to let free agents play out their contracts and let them walk, whereas KW tends to prefer trading them before their walk year.
  15. I don't know what to expect of that Padroia (sp) kid at 2b, but how can you not love that Red Sox lineup? Just sickening. It'd be hard not to take it over the NYY lineup which is something I never thought possible given that stockpiling of talent. Rotation-wise, it's close and NYY clearly have the better bullpen. I think the Yanks would be crazy not to get Hughes into the big leagues midseason. I'm thinking this may finally be the Red Sox year to take the division (it pains me to see either of these teams enjoy success, though).
  16. I like seeing Oswego make the news since it's my hometown, but not for this sort of tragedy. This is just awful. A couple of those last names sound familiar.
  17. Where are those odds from? There are some definite surprises in there. First and foremost is the Cubs having such great odds and the other Sox being at only 10-1. The Giants 10-1? Hmmm....
  18. My first one was at old Comiskey in '87. I remember Jerry Reuss was pitching and it may have been the home opener, though I'm not sure. I know they were giving out the magnetic schedules for the season and he was probably the #1 guy in the rotation that year.... no recollection of who won or lost but my uncle and one of his buddies brought me. He brought me to a ton of games as a kid, including the original Turn Back the Clock game.
  19. You set your own prices. So they tell you this t-shirt will cost you $12 and you can decide what to sell it for over that. You sell it for $14, you make $2/shirt. It doesn't cost anything to upload your images and have a 'store'. They do pretty good work. For instance, I had an image with a white background put onto a grey shirt. I expected that my shirt would have a big white square with my picture in it, but thankfully they only took the image and not its background (so it looked natural on the shirt). Check out this store for some sweet wares/wears: www.cafepress.com/mmmbate
  20. This year's bullpen is a huge concern for me. I really REALLY want to like where it's headed, especially as hyped as it is by Soxtalk, but I'm seriously worried. It's got great upside but so many things need to fall perfectly into place. It's too easy to see where things can go wrong: Mac being himself (injured), the league figuring out they can sit on Thornton's fastball with little-to-no movement, Aardsma struggling in his move to the AL, the inexperience of Massett, Haeger, whoever makes the cut, Sisco or Boone continuing the trend of producing some of the worst pitched innings in MLB in 2006... It's not that I'm a pessimist; I see the rotation dominating and the lineup continuing what they did last year, I just worry that the bullpen is going to kill this team.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) Actually it could really hurt the team because there wouldn't be a legit 4th OF on the roster. So yes there is a good amount of risk in this move since the Sox put off finding a 4th OF until now and the guy they're banking on is oft-injured, if he goes down the Sox will be in the same spot they were last year regarding the backup CF situation. Unless KW chose Erstad from day 1 of this offseason (although frankly that wouldn't surprise me given his thing for Erstad going back so many years), this argument is moot. He's not blocking the signing of another 4th OF. There must not have been another 4th OF who fit what they were looking for. If they had and they could afford him, I'm sure they would have made a hard push, but they apparently didn't like anyone. If they were resigned to signing a vet to fill that 4th OF role, I like this signing. But if they were planning to give Sweeney the LF job until Pods got back but then b****ed out, turning to the vet, then that's harder to swallow.
  22. I personally really like the signing with the obvious caveat that I hate it if Oz uses him as anything other than a 4th outfielder. But really, anyone b****ing that a) he's injury-prone and he's going to get hurt, and B) he sucks, shouldn't be too concerned with this signing. Y'all are running on the presumption of injury in the first week of regular playing time, so I guess his suckitude won't be hurting us too much, right?
  23. I think this thread is sure to test the limits of the profanity filter. Directv has purchased (or is this/close to purchasing) EXCLUSIVE rights to the MLB Extra Innings package for the cost of $700 million over 7 years. Not only does this mean anyone who wants the package will have to switch to Directv, but the very reasonable current cost of ~$150 per season is sure to escalate a lot. Unbelievable. Greedy ass MLB. I'm so pissed off. The single added benefit is that more games are likely to be broadcast in HD. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/20/sports/b...amp;oref=slogin
  24. I can't seem to find video yet of Colbert on O'Reilly's show via youtube or google video. Anyone else have any luck? I was clamoring for a longer interview but it was entertaining nonetheless. And I hope that was really the microwave from the No-Spin Zone's green room.
  25. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 02:40 AM) Jorja Fox from CSI....she use to be a model and to me very fugly. I'm so torn on her, but I think most of that is due to the gap between her front teeth. I guess that must be, like, her 'thing', but she'd be a lot hotter without it. She's got a great voice. I would totally hit that voice.
