  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) The forum. As soon as I get to the site, that pops up. I try to put my user name and password in, and it repeats the same thing. Thats weird. Your the first I know to have that problem. Try clearing your cache out and than doing it. It almost sounds more like the account was banned (well thats what a banned poster would see). Clear things out and see if that fixes things.
  2. I'm interested to see how Jeff Nelson does whenever he makes his debut.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Uh, the site isn't working for me on Firefox. When I try to, it says: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Sorry, you are not permitted to use this board Was that on the chat? Or for the actual forum.
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 11, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) I keep getting a message that I can't connect to the server. Anyone else find this? Any ideas? You need to be logged in to gain access.
  5. Gritty player and one of my all time fav Sox.
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Speaking of the SnR guys, they've really slowed their schedule, haven't they? (Sorry to threadjack Ian's birthday wishes, but f*** him anyway..... ) Ya, I haven't seen a post about a show in some time.
  7. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Yeah, happy birthday, ya little bastard!!! (repeat until nauseous) I don't think you drink alcohol yet, do ya? If not, start tonight!!! I remember one time he did....it was quite the SNR show.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Works Sweet, hopefully you guys like it.
  9. Alright, made some tweaks to the chat and I think I have the issue resolved. So now go test it out and tell me if it works alright.
  10. The person who said Jenks pitched himself into shape last year is correct. Jenks did have early struggles adjusting to the pen and getting in shape, although I think that was in large part because he missed pretty much all of the prior season due to a season ending injury. He may have been completely heatlhy to start last year, but he was not in pitching shape. This year he was healthy and overweight so that is one of the reason his velocity is down, but until very recently he had been pitching well in save opportunties (and just in general) but Ozzie has overused him and because Jenks isn't used to pitching 3-4 games in a row he tires. Late last season his velocity dropped and he got hit a bit, but than Ozzie gave him a few dyas off and he was back blowing fastballs by guys. I think he could really use a couple days to catch a breath and I hope Ozzie gives it to him. I am glad to see he's dropped some weight because if he stayed as fat as he was to start the year he would have definately blown his arm by season's end (the fat, muscle, buldge...whatever you want to call it was preventing him from having a more natural delivery).
  11. Happy Birthday Ian. Haven't seen ya around lately, but hopefully you have a great 22nd. I know Soxtalk has greatly appreciated all the graphics you've created over the years. So make sure you have a great Bday and while the Sox may not win on your bday, at least they won't lose either
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) This is why we are BFF.
  13. Hey Jim Apparently they opted for Montero because they don't want to take Tracey out of the rotation. The initial reason they were leaning towards promoting Tracey was because they felt he could come up, start (get some experience) and than go back down without getting all jumbled. But instead Ozzie wants to use Bmac in the rotation (apparently he announced it immediately following the Sox game, but no one picked up on it right away) and because of that they figure its better to bring up a guy like Montero as opposed to potentially get Tracey into a rut. I still say I'd rather see Tracey, but since we are only looking at righties I guess Montero is the guy and since he has experience out of the pen (well at least more of it) he must have been looked at harder than a guy like Tim Redding (who has stunk at both levels, in at least some part due to arm injuries a few years back).
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 11, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Gage, can you get the Montero callup up as the main story on FS? Beat you to it, its up on both sites. Its odd, apparently this was a pretty last minute call up.
  15. Hot Or Not: May 8th By Tyler James Soxtalk.com The Sox stayed hot this week posting a 5-2 record. However, this upcoming week may be more difficult as the Sox have ran into some minor injury problems. Thus far the depth of the team has responded positively. After flexing their muscle, it looks like the Sox will be alright throughout the long haul of the season. MORE AT THE LINK
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Hey Jas, guess what Quick says, "they both suck". Technically he's right as I don't think either will be very good this time up, but Tracey can be with time.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Does it really matter. We are bringing in an arm to fill BMAC's spot. He might not even get a shot to pitch, unless we are up or down several runs. Its not like this guy is starting, he is just filling in a gap. I dont understand why people care so damn much. Here's the thing. Sean Tracey could potentially be a long term answer. I realize he may not be ready now, but he's in AAA and has pitched fantastically recently. Moreno is a 28 year old who has never had any success about AA until THIS YEAR. Tracey at 25 is old for a prospect, but he's older because he's a converted pitcher who had only pitched about a year and a half prior to being drafted. I'd rather give Tracey a week or so to just see what life is like in the majors. It would be a great experience for one of our few prospects who could potentially make an impact THIS season (he could be a solid reliever by years end) and he would be up here with little pressure since he would be back down in a week's time. Tracey could also bail the team out if one of our starters got clobbered and we needed a guy to go multiple innings. I'm not a fan of passing up on a talented prospect who has plenty of options left (Tracey). QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) C'mon Jas, I've heard nothing but good things about Tracey's character and I know he has filthy stuff but with his control do you honestly think he can successfully get major league hitters out? Even control pitchers such as BMac struggle with the ML zone their first time around. Tracey needs to cut down on the walks or he will be eaten alive. I know nothing about this Montero character or moses moreno as you like to call him apparently. Hopefully they call him up and he never even sees action except in mop up duty. I don't have the splits in front of me, but since joining the rotation and getting his arm loosened up he has not had near as much control problem. Plus with his stuff and sinker he has the ability to get major leaguer's out. Montero on the other hand has stunk pretty much everywhere he's been, especially as of late. This is by far his best season ever and its his first sucessful stint in AAA after quite a few partial seasons at the level. During that time the best AAA ERA he ever had was 4.97 in 35 relief apperances with Las Vegas (Dodgers AAA affiliate). That was in 2003. This guy is a BUM. Tracey may not succeed in his first stint, but unlike Montero (who has nowhere to go), Tracey could actually use a short stint and learn from it and potentially have his development sped up thanks to it. Just to add one more thing about the knock on Tracey's control. It should be noted that Montero (in his career) gives up over 5 walks per game (5.32).
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Well since we dont need a starter because of BMAC, that could be one reason. And because Tracey could give Haeger a run for his money with walks, that could be another. I'd rather take a guy who has major league stuff than a guy who not only doesn't have major league stuff, but has already proven he's a 4A guy and a doper.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 11, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) I agree. I just threw out my season tickets. This is ridiculous. I'm not saying its going to cost us the season, but its still a stupid move. Tracey >>>>> Moreno. Not only does Tracey have lightyears better stuff, he also has a tremendous attitude and deserves the shot over Moreno (plus Tracey is more susceptible to suceed). Moreno = AAAAer and a juicer on top of that.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) per ESPN 1000, no Tracey. Stupid Stupid Move
  21. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) Is Jeff Nelson ready yet?In my opinion...NO.
  22. I for one hope the Sox stick with there original plan because Tracey has really regained his fastball and has improved his command greatly since moving back into the rotation in Charlotte. During spring he really lacked pop on his pitches early on and than finally late in spring training (I happened to be at the game) he found his heater and was really looking good and mowing guys down. In the pen he didn't appear to be able to loosen up and be ready for the start of the season, but the move to the rotation allowed him to get his arm loosened up and ready to roll. He's got major league stuff and could help out in our pen until Jose comes back (temporarily replacing Bmac in the relievers spot) or he could make what is expected to be the final spot start.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) In my opinion, the cause of the problem is 18 appearances in 33 games. He shouldn't be used in non-save appearances. Ya, I've mentioned it a few times, but we have totally overused him and I fear he will be hurt come the post-season if we continue to do so. He needs a few days off so he can regain his command. Late last season he wore down and started blowing some games (his velocity went south as well) and it was because he wasn't getting enough rest. At this stage he still seems to tire if used back to back to back and since thats happened on more than one ocassion this year its gotten him and he needs a few days without work to get that pop back.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) I am thrilled to FINALLY be able to welcome to the world Alyssa Jeanette born at 7:18 pm tonight, 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20 inches long. Mom and baby are healthy and doing well. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Kap on having a healthy baby
  25. QUOTE(Felix @ May 10, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) Yes, I do, and it didn't work on IE for me either. I'll have to figure it out. Maybe it is permissions or something along those lines.
